Problems with Laidoll (Round Two)

Mar 27, 2007

    1. I know there is a thread similar to this started by Ren13 but I wish more people had posted about their problems because I would never have ordered from this company if I knew this would happen. Unfortunately her thread didn't come up until a week after I'd already made my order.

I was curious, I wanted to see an AF Yin. Of course you can only get them through Laidoll. I ordered by Xi from there in September and in FIFTEEN days he was at my door. Not bad shipping at all.

This time...no. I ordered my Yin on Feb. 3rd. Guess what? He still hasn't shipped. I understand that face-ups take time but even when I ask for an update I am given the run around until I threaten to file a paypal claim. Then suddenly my doll will be sent "next week".

I emailed Laidoll (with the threat) and recieved a reply on March 16th. They said Ulat (the face-up artist) was working on my boy and they would ship him out the next week. I'd also PMed Change on this board and got a reply March 22nd saying Ulat had not even started my boy. Conflicting stories much?

I'm at my rope's end. If I don't threaten to file a paypal claim or open a credit card dispute I don't get replies. And when I do it is appeasement that he will be sent "next week".

I will be unable to recieve postal mail starting in mid April. I stated this and asked if it would be a problem to get him to me by then and was told there would be no problem. April looms closer and so do my $300 doll's chances of getting lost in the mail since the post office here refuses to give packages to people to whom it isn't addressed (a good policy but even if you sign the form they still won't give it to your envoy without a lot of hassle) and I won't be able to get mail to my house due to a rerouting issue.

So buyer beware. I used to love this company and had experienced and heard nothing but good things. Now it seems everyone is having problems.

I don't know, am I being unrealistic? Too demanding? I note I've only recieved ONE update in the past 50+ days and that was after threatening to file a paypal claim.

I'm not worried I won't get my doll. It's just a matter of when. And if I'll even still want him after all this trouble :| . Any advice?

P.S. If this is in the wrong area, sorry!

    2. I've heard issues about Laidoll before :( if you're almost out of time with paypal file the claim. either they'll refund or they'll get on it right away. If you get it you can always close the claim. Either that or make them send the doll to an address you know you can get it at (or change the name to a person you trust to receive it)

    3. I second this. File a claim anyways.

    4. I think I'm past my 45 day limit with Paypal since I ordered on the 3rd of Feb. So I guess since I paid with a card that also doubles as my debit/credit that I can open a dispute with them.

Another member on this board ordered an AF Lily with a face up (basically my order but just a girl doll) on Feb. 16th. That order has already shipped yet I can't even get a response from anyone.

If I'd known about the issues I would have gotten my other choice doll. As it is I'm out over $300 and no one has even bothered to reply to me.

Guess I'll end up emailing them in Chinese with threats AGAIN or calling. And as much as I hate using the phrase "If I don't recieve a reply in a business day..." looks like I'm going to have to.

Thanks for the input. Guess I'm stuck causing trouble on this one but this is ridiculous.

    5. Hi Kama!
I'm so sorry to hear about this... So many people have had bad experience with the individual who is the English-speaking rep for this company.

I just left this person, Change8023 negative feedback in her feedback thread (for my own experience with her), because while there were plenty of individual posts and threads complaining about Change/Laidoll's bad service, there was nothing in the most important place, her FEEDBACK THREAD.

So I'd encourage you or someone who's actually ordered from Laidoll (for better or worse) to MAKE A FEEDBACK THREAD FOR LAIDOLL, as I was unable to find one. I would do it, but I don't feel right about it, as I have not ordered from "Laidoll" myself.

I do hope your doll arrives, the deadline for Paypal Dispute Filing is 45 days.
First you Open a Dispute, then the seller in question has 20 days to get the item to you, or otherwise fix the problem. If they fail here then you must upgrade the Dispute to a Claim.

When I filed my dispute with Change, she responded in exactly one hour and five minutes. >_<

      Good luck
      Raven

    6. I ordered from Laidoll before with no problems. But now...now I'm to the point where I'm never ordering from them again and if anyone approaches me I'd tell them not to do so either. The bad of this far outweighs any good previously.

It's been 56 days since I ordered. Someone else has gotten her order (which was pretty much the same as mine) and she ordered two weeks after I did.

Ever since my ability to file a paypal claim has expired I'm getting NO REPLY. And I know the people I've been emailing have access to the internet because they've updated their blog.

I was willing to believe they were backlogged because of illness. I was willing to believe access to the internet was spotty. But I have been outright lied to by this company about when my doll is shipping, when his face-up is being done and the one time I did get a reply it also apparently was false. If you have no internet access WHY can you update your blog but not respond to paying customers?

Okay. Ending a rant. Taking a deep breath. I really wanted this doll and Laidoll was the only way to get him. But now I'm severely worried that if I finally get him I'll hate him because it took this long and caused this many issues.

As it is I'm out $300+ (that could be used for upcoming events OR to buy another doll from a better seller), getting no reply to my emails and completely up the creek without a paddle.

I contacted paypal and they said my claim had been "registered" but wasn't "viable" because I'm past the 45 day limit. So I don't know what to do short of filing a claim with my credit card company and I doubt they'd do much at this point. Is there anything like the Better Business Bureau to report them to? International purchasing does have downfalls, sadly. *sigh*

Anyway, yeah, completely sick and dispirited tonight. Any advice would be most helpful .

Soo...anybody want to buy an AF Yin? I could sell him for triple the price because guarenteed all this hassle is worth paying any amount of money to avoid  (and I note that it is a joke).

Edit: I emailed asking for a refund. I doubt I'll get it without filing a few complaints with someone but hey...can't hurt to ask. I really wanted a new doll for a gathering but doesn't look like I'll get one unless they actually stop being such poor business people and read my emails. As it is I just want it done. I want the doll shipped Monday or I want my money back.

    7. Last year around Sept/October I emailed Laidoll after stumbling onto their site. Complete noob knowing very little about BJD's I asked questions about body blushing, faceups etc for a DZ Mowen. The very next day I got excellent responses explaining in detail the procedures and what everything was for. A real pleasure for a noob that didn't even know what a faceup option was for lol XD

Beginning of this year I decided - bugger it - I'm going to get me Mo! So I emailed Laidoll. No response. I emailed them at their Ebay name - nothing. All my emails were blatantly blanked! I've heard from other people that Laidoll only respond once you hand over money so any questions prior to that they just ignore now. There customer service used to be so good but it's gone to pot now!

      Laidoll are also playing a bit of a game with you. 'Cause soon, you won't be able to open a dispute through Paypal to claim your money back and will have to go through the hassel of getting your credit card to do it. Personally, I know you really want your Yin..but they have had long enough, even to do the face-up. The site states up to 45 days or something like that [going from memory], they've had two months, more than ample time. You should have it in your mittens by now! I would open the claim after this amount of time..get your money back and look for a different doll ;_;

Edit----- EEee! Just saw you expired the Paypal claim limit x__X; Then contact your credit or debit card company. Explain the situation and open a dispute through them. They should still be able to get your money back since you still aren't the owner of the item and believe you will not be getting it!

    8. I believe I'm very much in the same boat as you Kama. I ordered a Megi January 16 and am still waiting for him. I emailed them several times and have actually gotten a response to the third try (after waiting several days in between attempts) and they've said that my Megi broke when being delievered to their factory so they had to send for a new one.

I did believe them but with all the recent complaints I've been getting worried, plus if he broke shouldn't they have notified my when it happened instead of waiting for me to contact them?

    9. You are totally right. Any store should notify the buyer of whats happened. So it sounds seriously fishy to me. You should probably pull out..just get your cash back through Paypal and get Megi through somewhere like Junky Spot or something x___X I'm getting my Mowen from Emory and he has been awesome with communication, even with my really noob questions.

    10. It is currently my deepest regret that I didn't buy from Emory at Junky Spot. :(

    11. *big hugs* Seriously, demand your cash back. You've waited way too long and Megi is available straight away from Emory.

    12. January 16th? Wow. And I thought I was going crazy. I was debating between another dollzone boy or this one and decided this one. I would have gone through Emory if I went with that option. But yeah...not exactly sure that helps either of us now.

It is protocol to notify someone when there will be any delay. ESPECIALLY something major like a doll breaking. And why on earth would a doll breaking delay him that much? Usually if they damage an order it is the first to get replaced.

I wanted to believe the best in them. That the internet connection wasn't good or that someone was seriously ill. But they only told me these things after I threatened to file a paypal claim and now that time's run out they won't answer me at all.

I'm just really, really annoyed. I want my money back, I don't even care about the doll anymore because I know I'll just get fed more lies about why this is taking so long when the fact is that they just don't care. If you have no internet access how do you update your blog? If your English representative is seriously ill why don't you hire another one on a temporary basis because you're running a business?

I don't know what to do. Paypal won't do anything because of the time limit and the only other thing I think left is to do what someone else on the board did and find someone who speaks Mandarin and have them call the company.

Anybody know if there's any legal action to take like reporting them somewhere? I'm not sure my credit card company will do anything.

Pretty much? Good luck getting your money back because I have no luck getting them to even respond to me.

    13. I just found out!!!

Laidoll is changing websites and the page up (from which you can link to the former page) has some things that may be proof that they are attempting to deal with their recent issues.

      Most interesting is this

Dare I hope and hang around?

    14. That is interesting but still..although I'm glad they are trying to work through their issues and to make their existing customers happy..that is such bad practice to make people that have been waiting since January!

    15. Nnnnnngh.

I am devoutly, devoutly hoping I have no issues this time around. Devoutly.

The last purchase I made from LaiDoll was delayed so bad I was despairing of ever seeing it, and it was just a pair of shoes. Now, in their defense, this was during that period in January where it seems the translator was in the hospital for an extended period of time, and when they said the shoes would ship by the end of the week they did just that -- two weeks' time thanks to standard airmail and I had them. So that raised my hopes enough that I decided to bite the bullet and order a Yin, whom I'd had my eye on for ages.

It's only been about a week and a half, but I'm already planning the email assault. Change said -- and I quote -- the doll would ship within a month of being ordered. I intend to hold them to that, since that's well within the Paypal dispute time.

It's sad when customer service gets so bad that it scares people out of ordering things they very much want.

    16. *goes to email them again*

I'm not holding out much hope. I told them specifically I needed the doll here by APRIL. They said it was "no problem". Sure. We believe that.

I really wanted it all to just be that they got backlogged but after being lied to and repeatedly told my doll would ship "next week" I really can't trust them all that much.

Tez, I wish you much better luck with your Yin than I've had. And advice, tell them if he isn't shipped within 45 days you'll file a paypal claim. That's the ONLY way I got a response and I wish to God that I'd filed a claim because now I have no other options.

    17. Hey hun when you get this. Check the www.laidoll.com When I went on they had an update. Maybe you should try to check this update ^^; And do what it says? Hope you get your doll!

    18. Most definitely, I wonder if they've lost a sizable chunk of customers because of their recent issues.

    19. Someone PM'd me today and suggested that people who are waiting on the DZ dolls bypass the rep involved and complain directly to Dollzone.

It's a great idea, as no company would want to have a rep possibly damage their reputation!

      http://www.doll-zone.com

      Good luck to everyone...
      Raven

    20. Thank you. I have my fingers crossed and bigtime that this is going to work out as well as it is currently promising to.

I get the feeling that Change in particular is busting her ass to try and restore LaiDoll's good name. She's been ridiculously quick and ridiculously helpful about answering questions and tolerating my constant bugging, and frankly it's restored a lot of faith in the company. However, that said, I'll REALLY be pleased if my boy ships out when she says it's going to.

I only wish that my last purchase had gone this smoothly, and I only wish that everyone else who's had issues could get this kind of service. I'm crossing my fingers and toes for you, Kama. Bigtime.

    21. Well....guess what. It's been a full business day and STILL NO REPLY. I've PMed Change and emailed (exactly like the website said) and in the times that apparently email is going to be answered, mine hasn't.

I really want to think that this is a one time thing but all the evidence seems to support that they are blatantly ignoring "problem" customers. You know, because once you say you want your money back they know that your 45 day time limit for paypal has expired and they aren't about to reply to you.

I got a faster response time from Paypal itself than I have from this company. Pretty much an email stating they're sorry they can't do anything and that I should take it up with my credit card company. The point? They actually replied!

What irritates me is that I know people are getting responses to their PMs and emails yet I'm not. My emails really have not been nasty at all, simply stating that because of a conflict with receiving my doll and because of me being out of town I'd prefer that they give me a definite shipping date or cancel my order and refund my money.

Meanwhile I contact Junky Spot and ask about my second choice doll (a tanned, boy Felian) and am told sure! He'll be here by the end of this week! And shipping will be a whopping $40 less than with Laidoll. Totally wish I'd gone with this road to begin with.

More to the point...some people have gotten very fast, very helpful mails. Others (those of us who have already emailed and been requesting dates for weeks now only to be told "next week") are not getting any reply at all. A company can't do that to people. I just want my money back now and apparently I don't have any options except to file a claim with my credit company because Laidoll won't even give me a courtesy email saying "We apologize but we can not refund your money. However your doll will be sent out....-date-".

I did what the update said. The time slot for "answering emails" has come and gone. $300 is a good chunk of money for a college student and I have no idea where it even is.

I hope this all works out and I hope they do treat people better in the future. But as it is I'm giving them one more day to answer any email or message. Then I'm complaining to dollzone, calling my credit company and then asking them what legal action can be taken. I have no desire to go through all the work involved of actually getting anyone investigating mail fraud (isn't that the FBI?) and I doubt they're actually trying to deprive anyone of their purchase but maybe a little bump to tell them that they can't simply cut off contact will work.

So...anyone speak Mandarin? Calling seems to be another appropriate route but I only know people who write it.

    22. Kama - The problem is now, even if Laidoll even did respond with a date, after all the heartache Laidoll have put you through, it would be a horrible shame to end up having horrible memories and feelings connected to the doll. Go through with your claim through your credit card company, Laidoll have really made this hard on you and other people. It seems to be the only option now.

Whats embaressing is Junky Spot emailed you super fast, given you basically a definite date to recieve your doll..and it only took him two seconds to respond to you about it!

Definitely complain to Dollzone also. If enough people complained direct to Dollzone about Laidoll, it might push Laidoll as a company to rethink their stratergy on how to keep companies and real, proper, customer service.

    23. Kama: I'm really sorry that you've been having such problems with Laidoll. It's definitely unfair, and I really hope that everything works out for you!

I'm a little bit confused, though. Haha....Why would you complain to Dollzone about Laidoll? Yin isn't manufactured by them...Do you think it would still help?

    24. Laidoll is an agent of Dollzone. I believe that it is hard to geat a dz directly from the factory if your overseas, but other companies sell the dlls for them, like Featherfall.

This thread addresses the laidoll/dollzone question
      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104157&highlight=laidoll

    25. My two cents since some people have already asked me - I've no clue what the issue is with Laidoll at the moment, so this is more a general advice, comment, etc.

Laidoll, like us, is a Dollzone agent. If you're having issues with them and Dollzone dolls and its something really atrocious, by all means let the parent company know! Agents and the company their represent always try to do their best; before I became one I bought my Linlan from Jeeryrama ( who was STELLAR), a head from Emory at Junkyspot ( who is flat out amazing and great at customer service ) and even my one MSD, a Feng, From Laidoll. I had no issues with any of them.

Delays happen. I've had to email customers a few times to let them know that because of backlogs or shipping screw ups ( as in a recent time Fed Ex simply FORGOT to come pick up about 8 doll shipments) where the times end up being a few days longer that the customer was quoted.

I found that simply letting the customer know what was going on and an estimate of shipping times satisfied them -- and allowed a transaction to go smoothly and well.

EXPECT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. Demand it.

Now, there's a couple of people that emailed me 2-3 times every week asking if their doll was ready - when the QUOTED time hadn't even gone by. But if the time has gone and passed-- without updates, ASK!

If you bought a computer, you wouldn't hesitate to ask for customer service, or expect it. These dolls are the same thing -- expensive items, and for the most part really beloved ones.

Now -- please don't start harrassing all agents, lol, but be aware of your rights. If you're overdue for your doll, your paypal window is nearing its deadline and despite repeated attempts you've heard nothing from your seller -start a paypal dispute. You can always dimiss it later after you reach an amicable agreement ( wherein you hopefully get your doll in your hands, don't settle for promises); but if not, you are protected.

    26. I'm not sure if Angel Fantasy is related to Dollzone. However, people who have ordered dollzone dolls also are having problems. And this would make me say, if I wanted another Dollzone, that I wouldn't order from this agent.

Uneide - I understand entirely where you're coming from and I didn't even email them until over 40 days had gone by. I ordered my Xi from them and had absolutely no problems. And when I contacted them I was getting conflicting stories (one source said the face up was "being done" the other said it "hadn't even started and Ulat needed to be reminded") which didn't put me at ease. When I said I was going to file a paypal claim if I didn't get a response, that's when I finally got one and was told the doll would ship out "next week". It's been two weeks from that "next week" date and I haven't gotten any more emails.

It wouldn't bother me so much if they'd just contact me and tell me. "We're having problems with shipping" or "The face-up artist forgot to do your doll". But it's absolutely no contact after you can't do anything to get your money back.

By the way, love the kimonos. Post more MSD sized! None of the current ones suit any of my brood, otherwise I'd buy like...way too many. :)

CalfLove - Yeah. As much effort as I've gone through I actually already have someone interested in buying the Yin should they not refund my money. Guess I'll wait and see but it's so much easier when I even email Junky Spot asking for a special order (girl head on a boy body) and get a reply with in the hour saying of course they can do that at no extra cost and the doll will be here by the end of the week. I'm still out $300 for a while but at least I'll get it back eventually.

Now to actually call the credit company when not in between classes when I can't really hold for half an hour...

    27. Kama-
Yeah, really I think communication is all that most people ask for. I've no clue what's up with LaiDoll right now, so I can't really help. Angel Fantasy is an entirely different company, as far as I can tell .;)

heh, and thank you! We're actually posting about 6 new MSD ones between today and tomorrow. ;) Yay for spring...

    28. Yes, Angel Fantasy is an entirely different company than Dollzone, that's why I was confused. Haha. ^^;

Angel Fantasy used to be the company "Dream Doll" (or was it "Doll Dream"?) but the name change was announced a while ago. Probably because of the similarity to "Dream of Doll". xD

    29. Okay. After me freaking out guess who gets here today?

      Yeah. Exactly. He does.

And of course I've already ordered another doll by this point who will be here tomorrow.

      Life is hideously cruel.

Thanks everyone for the advice and I'm glad this worked out. Just an anxious two and a half month wait. Still not sure if I'll keep him though.

    30. Eee Uneide! Your items are lovely and I'm totally eyeing a parasol for my boy now! C'mon, roll on payday XD!!

    31. Hooray! I'm so glad that he finally arrived!
Now go make Laidoll a thread, leave her negative feedback, put a link to this thread and a warning.

Yes, you got your doll, and I know you are relieved and happy, but the whole thing was a ridiculous unnecessary mess. Potential customers should be warned away from this seller at all costs, and other options cited.

So Uneide! When are you going to start carrying Angel Fantasy dolls? I was interested in ordering a Lily and possibly one of their tinies awhile back... but didn't for obvious reasons.

      Congrats, Kama!

      Raven

    32. So glad it worked itself out and you got him in the end! :)

      Raven- errrr... not in the near future. I believe Angel Fantasy only speaks Chinese, and as far as I know the only one who even vaguely knows how to contact them is Laidoll. ^_^;;

I do know that if you like the tinies, like Ari and Faro was it? Kondoll carries those too.

    33. glad it worked out ^-^
Laidoll deffinately has its issues... it was a month after i paid and i still got no conformation or anything, i had to end up emailing them. My Xi took another month after the e-mail to even be shipped...

    34. :doh

Okay, that is some special kind of suck. I am really, really hoping that nothing like this happens to me. Really hoping. It really profoundly sucks that you've had all these problems; it's just not fair, any way you slice it.

...not that I wouldn't still love to see pics, mind you.

    35. I'm glad your doll has gotten here.
I just ordered my boy from Laidoll. After reading several post here I was a little worried but this is the doll I really want and I don't mind waiting for him. They have had some trouble with the earthquake, New Year, and Change being sick so I don't think they are doing anything intentional to slow down the process. I can see where they would be behind. I heard from Change 2 days after I ordered. I think that is pretty good with the different time zone. I returned her e-mail today and have already gotten a responce. Must be working late it should be like midnight there. So I feel pretty good about the process so far.

    36. Yin arrived yesterday. I will have to say that was quick. I didn't expect him to be ready this soon. I love him and his resin is beautiful. Change was great to deal with she was always prompt with her e-mail to answer my questions and kept me informed.

    37. Dot. Dot. Dot.

Did you order him with or without faceup? I've been waiting for a month and Change hasn't responded to any of my emails for the past week. I ordered mine with a face-up, and she told me it would be shippable within the month.

I think it's safe to say I'm slightly frustrated now.

    38. I don't understand why she ignores some people and answers others. I wonder if it's the emails?

    39. I honestly don't think she "ignores" people. Up until this point she's been lightning-fast with the responses, insanely helpful, everything I could ever ask for from a customer service representative. Then this week -- nada. Zip zilch nothin'. This is about when he should ship, and I'm getting rather antsy and it bothers me that she isn't answering.

    40. That's weird. Then again, I use to belong to a group of roleplayers. Emails use to send just fine. Then I left, and few months back, wanted to rejoin. Emailed them and after a few weeks, they finally replied, saying since I never got back in touch with them, I couldn't rejoin, but I never got the emails! I told them this too, but they replied too bad. So maybe she's suddenly not getting them? Or she has no idea herself.

    41. So I sold my Yin. I know. All that effort just to get rid of him but we really weren't bonding. He's a lovely doll and I hope everyone else has better luck without having any drama attached to theirs.

Funny how the day after I get my Yin I get an email saying "Haven't you gotten your doll yet?!?" Mind you, this is to an email I sent two weeks before.

I never got any notification that my doll had shipped. I still haven't so it wasn't delayed. Kind of a strange business practice.

Tez - For me it tended to be I didn't get a reply when they didn't have an answer. Like for where my doll was. Or for how long it was going to take. When it was a question about who could do the face-up or whatever I got a reply almost the same day. Maybe (I hope) you're like me and your doll has already shipped and they just don't know where it went thus are avoiding answering you. Not professional but...at the same time at least you'll get something.

    42. God I hope that's all it is -- I hope he's shipped and he just isn't here yet. Not that I still wouldn't like a tracking number and some shipping confirmation, mind you. I hope your Yin found a good home though, Kama.

The last time I asked for an update was the tenth, I think -- I got an email right back stating they were going to be on holiday in Hong Kong (for business purposes, I think, but I could be wrong) through the 14th. I thought it was very nice of them to let me know that, honestly. So I emailed on the 16th. And the 18th. And today.

      Still nothing.

I really, really, REALLY hope he's already shipped and they didn't email me to let me know. I don't want this to be a bad experience, I really don't.

    43. Update time.

It's been two weeks of constant attempts to contact anyone who could possibly be associated with Laidoll. When I ordered him, I was told he was in stock, he'd go right off to the faceup artist and then be shipped out mid-April. I've had absolutely NO communication since the tenth of April, and I've been emailing every other day at a bare minimum. The lack of communication is unbelievable, and this is after the stellar fast customer service in the beginning. Needless to say, I am something less than happy.

I gave them until Tuesday to either land my doll in my hands or give me an EMS tracking number, or it's dispute time. I'm a nice person, I don't want to resort to it, but if that's the only way to get them off their asses and get my doll to me I'll do it.

I really wish someone else offered these dolls. It'd make life so much simpler for those of us who really like these sculpts but are put off by the nightmares of actually getting one.

    44. Tez, we (Yanagi and I) were also told that our dolls (AF Lily and AF Yin, which we ordered together) would be sent out in mid-April after going to the face-up artist.

In the beginning, we got really fast replies to our e-mails, as well. But this is the third e-mail I've sent to them in a week (attempting to communicate with them through both the "order status" e-mail and Change's own e-mail address) and haven't heard anything from them. I think that they're either having a lot of problems with something or another or they just don't want to reply until they have an answer to your question. I can't imagine that they like to say, "We have absolutely no idea when we'll ship your doll out," you know? Which is pretty much what Kama was saying.

I really hope that you get your Yin soon. Yanagi is longing for hers, and I'm longing for my Lily. I just hope that we all hear from them soon.

    45. I admit I had a hunch you two would be in the same boat I am, since I know you ordered your dolls within the same week I did. I hate to hear it, but it seems to me that if there are more people hounding them, then there's a better chance that they'll get on the ball.

This is cruel of me, but I really don't care what problems they're having. Common courtesy and good customer service/sales etiquette dictates that if there are problems you TELL YOUR CUSTOMERS. It is NOT that hard. If something I've ordered for one of my customers suffers from a backorder that makes it take a month longer than I was originally quoted, I will call them and let them know. It takes five minutes, and nine times out of ten the customer will grumble but be okay with it because now they know what's going on. Going dead silent is not the right way to handle an 'I don't know' answer. Just tell me you don't know, that something came up, I might complain but I'll be much more amenable.

I'm still going through with the dispute if I don't have some concrete answer by Tuesday, and I'd really recommend you two consider doing the same. It's not nice, but once that 45-day window is gone there's no other recourse. I want my doll, but I don't want to risk my investment unduly, you know?

    46. Oh dear - this is still going on?

I hope all of you who are having problems get them cleared up soon - I know what having absolutely no news is like. I'm thankful that my doll ever reached my house back in February, since I had doubts he'd ever do so. Best of luck to you all. :(

    47. I know exactly what you're saying. In the most basic sense, they are a business and they do have an obligation to keep their customers informed on their purchases, especially considering how much we're all spending.

I feel bad that they may still be having problems with some things, but they should definitely tell their customers what's going on, particularly because we keep asking! I also hope that they'll be more more motivated to answer since they're getting e-mails from more than one person.

I'm not sure when Yanagi and I would have to file the dispute by (I'll have to ask her), but if we don't get a response from Change soon (within the week, maybe) we'll have no other choice but to threaten to file a dispute. I have full confidence that the dolls will come, since I don't know of a person who's NEVER gotten their doll, but we don't want to risk being the first.

Let's just hope that we all start getting responses to our e-mails!

And thank you, Ren13, for your kind wishes!

    48. Ren13 -- yes, unfortunately. It's more than slightly disheartening.

Kaga -- Exactly. I'm in sales myself, and I sure as hell don't expect my customers to drop tons of dough on blind faith. Taking care of my people doesn't take up gallons of my time, and it takes less time to fire off a two-line simple email than it does to do phone calls, which is what I do.

I picked Tuesday kind of arbitrarily; I paid for my boy on 3/26/07. I figured giving them until the end of April was a nice round number. And don't threaten. Just do it. Otherwise you risk running out of time. I've been telling them for the past week that if they don't give me something concrete I'm filing, and it hasn't gotten any results.

    49. I agree with Tez. Don't wait and don't threaten to file a claim or you miss you chance. I made the mistake of threatening. It got an instant reply to my email but it turned out to just be another lie about when my doll was shipping (he didn't ship until three weeks later) so I missed my ability to file a claim.

I had NO communication. It's like after they have your money for a bit they don't want to talk to you. They don't want to answer your questions or admit they have no idea what's going on.

I got my Yin in a very battered package. He came with a carrying bag in a normal box without much packing around the carry back (he had pillows on him luckily) and the box looked like it had been through Hell. The shipping date on the customs form was also suspiciously missing.

Then the next day what do I receive? An email asking if he'd arrived yet. Possibly because I signed the form saying he'd been received, perhaps? ;)

It's sad to see this company do this and, true, you can't get these dolls anywhere else. It was such a bad experience to me that I turned around and sold my Yin when I'd had him less than two weeks. He's a cute doll but he is not worth waiting 4 months for unless he's completely your dream.

I don't think it's too much to ask that a seller simply sends back an email. Though they might want to get stories straight as I got two conflicting emails as to where my doll was and when I called them on it I got no replies whatsoever :| .

Good luck to all of you. Hope you get them soon. I, for one, am totally advising people who ask not to order from Laidoll unless they're prepped for months of worry and no communication.

    50. I have a bit of an odd question.

I'm new to the world of online purchases and Pay Pal and wondering...what exactly happens when you file a dispute against a company?

I really don't want the order to be canceled, since AF Lily is truly my dream doll, so...will a dispute cause that to happen?

    51. No, thank god. I want that doll really stinking bad, I don't want the order canceled. No, what a dispute does is it sends up a big fat red flag, and sends a notice from PayPal -- NOT straight from you -- that says hello, there's a problem, we need to take care of this pronto kplzthx. That gives you twenty days to resolve the problem with the other party, or at that point you can escalate to a claim and that would be the point when refunds would be talked about.

I just filed my dispute. Let's see what happens.

    52. Bump.

I was just looking over the Abio Angel thread and there was some mention of a Chinese holiday that's going to put pretty much all communication with the country on the skids until mid-May. Anyone got any confirmation on this?

    53. Well, from DZ at least, I was told that they're on vacation over the labour day holiday pretty much all of this week, actually. ^_^;; I would imagine its a nationwide one?

    54. If DZ is on holiday then I don't doubt you're right on that. Thank you for the confirmation, Uneide, and I'll be over here thumping my head into a wall. :sweat

    55. In light of this news post, I'm bumping this thread again.

When they switched over the LaiDoll website I do remember them saying that their address [email protected] had been hacked, and now the claim is that it's happening again and all orders that were supposed to ship in March will be shipped 'this month' with a gift.

What I want to know now is -- do we have any way of CONFIRMING when these will ship? My dispute period ends on the 21st and I do not want to escalate this to a claim if I can avoid it. I can't speak Mandarin and I don't know anyone who can, so I can't resort to that.

    56. Paypal has sent me my money back after no contact with Laidoll.

The doll was supposed to ship within the next couple of days.

My day is totally ruined and I'm going to cry now. I wanted that doll so badly. He was there, he was ready...now I don't know if I'll ever get the doll I really wanted.

I don't even know what to do.

    57. Tez, I'm really sorry that that happened! T_T

There is still no way to even contact Laidoll about what happened, maybe try contacting change? (that is if her hotmail account wasn't damaged to)

I really hope that you are still able to get your Yin! I wish you luck! :)

Kagami and I are still waiting for our Yin and Lily...i hope they come soon...

    58. I tried -every single avenue of contact I could think of-.

Change's hotmail. Laidoll boxes. PM here. eBay message. Emailing the address on Change's paypal. EVERYTHING. I have heard nothing at all.

If I don't hear from them by the time the refund lands in my PayPal in a couple days, I'm buying a DoC and crossing my fingers that it gets here in time for Otakon.

    59. O___O This is so scary, and I wish everyone that is having this trouble the best of luck in the world!

    60. I e-mailed change @ her hotmail address yesturday, and haven't heard back from her yet. She keeps using her hotmail address as a contact address on her ebay auctions, so I hope that its still working. Hopefully she'll get back to both of us soon! Espically before you get your refund back.

If you do order a DOC it might get here before Otakon, but just barely given like the 7 week waiting time. That is if you order it right atfter you get your refund. Right now, I'm just hoping my Yin will get here before Anime Next or Otakon. This situation really sucks :(
