Do you have a doll that just keeps bringing you challanges? I have one. Volks YoSD Syo came to me newly released. I sent the head for face up in Korea. For some reason, I did not like it, but it was perfectly fine, so I traded it for a default one and removed the face up. Did a body swap to a YoTenshi one. When I recently finally was able to sell it, I had misplaced it (so sorry!) They say glass eyes don’t yellow. Well, Syo’s eyes are oddly enough all yellowed. Worst and final part: Syo’s head with accessoaries, papers and box was misplaced during a move. I always keep my dolls in their boxes in the closet. But this time, it ended up in the apartment basement. What happened? Stolen! So this is my lost doll, bad luck boy. How about you?
Unfortunately (or fortunately?) mine seem to behave very well Unless the fact I have trouble storing my Doll Chateau Eudes counts... he's so massive that none of my shelves can fit him (unless he's laying down; I'd love to make him sit there!), but I don't trust him to stay put on the edge of table either - without supervision - ... I refuse to keep him in his box though, because that's just no fun for me
@Sweetiemi at least it made a great story My story is very mild in comparison, but I had a doll who, I swear, would only pose/stand in clothes they liked and would be an absolute flopfest otherwise. One might think that it had to do with the type of clothing? I swapped the head to another one later on and it has no problems wearing the items the previous configuration would throw a fit with I kept trying to hybrid the fiddly head several times also and it never worked out, I guess they might have been a little bit cursed indeed?
This one would have to be Raven Valentine. My Ringdoll MoYu. I bought him in stock from Jeeryama (eBay Clover Singing). She shipped him right away, but the problem became him getting stuck in shipping at first. He went to some proxy shipper in California to start. Now, my family was looking to get the house tented, but we didn't want to go with the doll being expected, so my mother decided to wait before we scheduled it and then we would all go on a beach vacation while getting the house done. The doll went from one state after the next, and then back to California, then to Florida where I live, then back to California. After about a month of back and forth I contacted Christina, and and she contacted the shippers. The doll then took a steady path to me, but it took three more weeks. When the box got home. My mother had scheduled the tenting and we took off to the beach. I didn't open the box. Also, it was super cold on the beach and we couldn't do much in the way of fun because of how cold it was. We had had to wait two months of shipping on that doll. When I get home I open the box, that I had layed carefully on my bed before leaving. The box was damaged and fell apart on the ends. The doll's leg was broken. Thankfully Christina had Ringdoll send me a new leg right away. That took less then a month and came directly from Ringdoll. But the wig I had gotten him was way to big. So then I had to order him a new wig. and wait on that. The eyes also took an extra long time to get to me. With him it was just one thing after another! He's been a very good doll since that whole fiasco, but getting him settled in was a nightmare.
@Sweetiemi That is such a bad luck story, I'm so sorry. Similar to @RabbidBunnies, my bad luck doll was from Clover Singing. I fell in love with a Boy&Girl Doll sculpt and was able to order them from Clover Singing (Christina). I couldn't get his original headdress or accessories but I could get his outfit. He did make his way to me I think before the pandemic? Anyway, he came with a broken hand, the wrong eyes, the wrong wig. So I had to contact Christina. Christina really bent over backwards to make it right for me - I got a new set of hands, new eyes, new wig, and his originally accessories magically showed up. I still need his original headdress. I should put out a WTB for that or see if some one can make something similar. Every now and then some of my dolls like to try to take a spill. My Minifee Karsh managed to break his finger on a hand like that - took a dive off of where I had him sitting. But everyone else has behaved.
My Dream Valley Vine, Kingly. He is gorgeous and suits my Doll Chateau Queena perfectly. . . But I have yet to find anything that fits him right, his resin is so smooth that blue tac does not stick to it so his eyes are loose, and I cannot find good tension for him. He seems to kick and flop no matter what I do.
You could always have him lie in a sultry way on your shelf. "Paint me like one of your French girls!" My problem doll is Marcie right now, mostly due to her age. She's on both her second head AND her second body! The first head I got for her had some kind of bleaching damage to it, so even though the sculpt was correct, the head was basically unusable without dyeing or other significant blushing. The Volks body I settled on for her was entirely too yellow and completely unsuitable in terms of proportions. I managed to track down a second head, which is appropriately yellow, and a second body, which was my first choice for her anyway. Lucky me! Then she had the audacity to decide she's a country Western horse girl and required appropriate clothing/accessories. These are, unsurprisingly, not terribly common in the (Asian) ball jointed doll community, so even getting her an outfit and shoes has proven to be a greater challenge than I anticipated. Ingrid can also be challenging, though, as Resinsoul Mi's body is very thin and very smooth. She's going to require quite a bit of mod work to make her stop being both floppy and kicky!
Haha I might actually try that, sounds funny (and I suppose it kind of fits his character, so there's that too)
