It's already about 2 weeks ago that we visited medieval town of Obidos in Portugal. It was the day of devastating storm Kristine that had wind speed over 200 km/h and destroyed huge areas. At the time of the visit we still didn't know and enjoyed our stay just the same as many other tourists. IMG_4058 by Ilona Lablaika-Williams, on Flickr IMG_4054 by Ilona Lablaika-Williams, on Flickr
yes! I love red. And actual medieval clothes were really colourful so at least in this aspect I have kept true to the sources.
Wonderful background. Such amazing photos. Sorry for the terrible weather the village had. Hopefully no major damage. Thank you for sharing your photos here.
Oh dear, the storm Kristine But it's reassuring to see the lovely pictures. So you and the two resin family members are doing well. It's a shame to discover modern civilization in the photos. One would have to use some Photoshop. In the photo with the seated Eve and Adam, you can see white sneakers on the terrace to the left. And in the photo where the lovely couple are standing and talking, you can see modern "tin dragons" next to the beautiful chapel Glad you're healthy and thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Yes, we are very much ok. A bit of wisdom, lots of luck, and some mobility also helps when you have to get out of harms way. We found a place that was basically a hole in the ground big enough to fully hide our 3,5 m high motorhome or as my husband said "crater", spent the night in there. Damage was very bad. Portugal has estimated that direct damage exceeds 4 billion (!) and as of now has allocated 3 billion for rebuilding. Not just one village, the whole area, hundreds of kilometres broken trees, roofs, walls, everything you can imagine a storm could damage. Wind speed was over 200 km/h. I have some damage videos on my IG too. You have eagle eye, dear! I didn't see the sneakers at all! And the tin dragons, well, you can't really control dragons, they are wherever they want to be! That's why I have the cover story that both Eve and Adam are modern people just working as my models. More so because eventually they will have costumes from many different periods, they will not be confined to medieval only. It takes time but the plan is there. Probably l should elaborate the story better. Allows me some flexibility or excuse for blindness.
