Back again and wondering how to post ; should each doll project be separate or just group them together because they are all mine? I tend to work in batches ( a remnant of doing shows where I might have to turn out a dozen or more puppets in a short time,) and so have several things at different stages right now. I need a little boost right now as I get to the dreaded knee and elbow joint area on the first one. While waiting on supplies I ordered I did 4 heads in Sculpty and a lot of thinking. At least now I have a plan of action. The first head I did was for a 65 cm guy (pictures in my eariler posts) but the size wasn't comfortable for me so I plotted out a 46 cm woman, a 30 cm girl child and a 20 cm toddler boy. Those are the heads. (At that point I didn't have any paper big enough to plot the guy out) Now my plan is to aim for having 1 or 2 "Hula" dolls ready for the Merrie Monarch festival next year. If it goes well I might do 1 or 2 each year for that event crowd in a very limited edition. So far I have roughed out my Hula wahine (an adult woman modeled on our local folk here). The proportions are not much like the usual BJD and she isn't "doll pretty" so I call her an art doll. The little girl (keiki) will also be a hula girl, but I find myself in love with the tiny boy so he has been getting my attention more lately. Well, you'll want to add an "http://" before your image link, but other than that, I think you can post however you'd like. Is the boy the one with the slightly pouty expression? He's very cute!
