Resolved Please HELP! STOLEN Mini Super Dollfie Head! - RESOLVED

Apr 4, 2006

    1. First, I apologize if I am breaking any rules, as I am not a regular member here and am not fully versed in forum's rules.

But this is an EMERGENCY, and I really need your help.

My friend has had her Volks Mini Super Dollfie Head STOLEN.

The head was a limited-edition Akira:
      http://www.superdollfie.net/sd/gentei/akira.html

She sent it into be customized to who she believed was a trustworthy customizer. First the customizer offered to buy the head from her, and my friend refused the offer.

Then the customizer failed to post pictures of the reportedly customized doll, even after numerous requests. At the same time, the customizer was posting photos of other dolls, proving that she both had the time to take photos and a working camera.

Then, even worse, the customizer DISAPPEARED. She stopped responding to emails for nearly a month, even though during this period she (1) posted on her livejournal, (2) read her personal messages on my space, and (3) was seen on MSN Messenger, and even chatted with people.

Now the customizer has returned, claiming that she was sick with the flu and strep throat at the same time, and that her grandmother recently died, so that was why she was gone. However, she has offered no reasonable explanation for why she could not have sent a simple email -- "I'm sick, things will be delayed" -- during her month-long absence.

Furthermore, she is also claiming that the head has been BROKEN -- but once again, has not posted photos of the supposedly broken head to prove this claim. She has offered a refund of $150, but both my friend and I believe that the missing Akira head is worth much more than that and that this is an attempt to effectively steal the head.

We are looking into contacting the police to file a fraud report, but first we need to know the actual value of the Akira head.

If you know of the Akira's head value, or even better, if you have proof -- a Yahoo Japan auction, a sale on an LJ site, a friend who recently bought one -- please, please, PLEASE contact me.

Please help us nail this scammer, liar and thief!

      My email is cauldroness(at)gmail.com

Any and all information you could give us would be greatly appreciated.

We don't want her to scam anyone else, ever!

    2. Oh wow. I'm sorry. I hope you get the settled. I don't know much about Akira, but I sure somone on DOA can help you.

    3. I'm also a friend of the victim. And well, supposedly an acquaintance of the thief, too. >>

None of us know what to do anymore... the girl has had the head for a few months before any of this even happened, which is WAY too long. It just makes me so sad and angry. I want to see pictures of Kieran again(the Akira's name). T^T

    4. I'd suggest posting about the customizer (with their name) in the Feedback Forum -- that tends to get a fairly speedy result, since people don't like to lose their reputation and future customers.

Do me a favor, though, and run your post by a mod beforehand, because there are some rules about posting people's personal information on here. However, if you use their DoA or business name, that's certainly allowed.

Good luck getting your head back!

      -- Andi <3

    5. I know Akira has gone upwards of $600 recently, and MSD bodies only go for about $100, so the head would be worth much more than $150, more in the range of $300+

I really hope things work out! @_@

      • x 1
    6. Wow, how horrible! I sadly don't know anything about Akira, but I really hope someone here can help. Good luck, I hope it all works out!

    7. I'm actually going to suggest that you have your friend post this in the feedback forum, with the customizer's name/DoA handle and website (but not home address, please). It really would be better if the victim posted him/herself and provided the information. Also, if she can post pictures of the doll before she sent it, and also a description of what was supposedly being done to it... it might help people to keep an eye out for the head.

Your friend might want to demand the head back, even if it's broken, and then figure out the payment issue.

    8. The user on DoA was CrazyClam, that is pretty much the same alias she uses everywhere, to my knowledge. She didn't post very much, she ordered a group order of HairStar wigs for a group of people at a Pullip Doll forum, and only about 3-4 people have recieved their wigs. People are talking about going the police(and have, but CrazyClam's local police department told the person to report it to her local department, I think the person has an appoinmtent this Friday).

This girl was offering free faceups to make a portfolio for a "Pullip Spa" shop that did customizations, custom outfits, etc, and as she was friends with a lot of people on the forum people trusted her and sent them their doll heads.
The owner of the shop said that CrazyClam did not even inform her of this idea, let alone using the store's name and by doing so affiliating the store owner in her theft? I don't really know what to call it. But out of the 10 people who sent their head to be painted, I don't think any have recieved them. They are Pullip heads, though and not worth nearly as much as the Akira MSD head.

I'm not even really sure how CrazyClam became reputable. She participated in many swaps(one on DoA form her posts) and has never sent the gifts out... and she has a track record of not sending things out unless you bug her 50 million times. And the 49 million times you bug her before that, she lies about the item already being shipped.

Also, there was a shop she was affiliated with, the owner couldn't use paypal for certain resons and so CrazyCLam was recieving the money and then giving it to the owner(I am not sure by what means...) But the most recent order of this store, CrazyClam kept the money...

This girl is really annoying... always making excuses and blaming her family members for her responsibilities...

I'm sure my friend will post all of the information soon, she is not a member of this forum. But I am sure she'll join to get her head back. :D (i'm sorry for grammar mistakes or if I left information out, I am highly sleep deprived...)

    9. OMG, this is scary! I actually met her twice when she lived in my town a couple months back. I don't know her really well so I can't offer much. All I know is that she mainly collects Pullips and does faceups/mods for them.

She suddenly moved back home to Los Angeles last month, and basically disappeared from AIM since I haven't seen her since the time she moved back home.

That's all I can offer, I'm afraid. I hope she can explain to everyone what's been going on soon. :(

    10. Omg, this is Kieran!? T__T Just when she had decided to keep him too... I'm so sorry. I really hope that everything gets worked out.

    11. Wow. Way to go, giving developing customizers a bad name. X_x. Hearing this, it might be harder for other people to open up some face-up/customizing stores too. Especially since this isn't the first time I've heard of stuff like this. :/.

I'm really sorry this happened to your friend. I wish her the best and a helluva lot better luck in dealing with future sellers/buyers. We're not all like that. She's giving online services a bad name. :/.

    12. My advice: contact your local PD!
CrazyClam is obviously lying or trying to cover something up...and if she indeed did break the head, you can haul her arss to small-claims court and get the money back.

I'm terribly sorry this had to happen, she does give online services a bad name. Good luck with getting Kieren back!

    13. I definatly agree with ferret-hime. Have your friend contact the police and give them all of the available information. A serious response as this will likely bring a good result. Also, do post in the feedback forum to warn others of this customizer.

    14. I agree. There are a few things you can do. Firstly you'll want any photos you had of the head before it was sent (proof that it was yours plus condition in case she really has broken it).

Next - when contacting the police let them know that it was a expensive collector's item worth probably about $3-500 USD in the current market. Then let them know it's a rare dolls head that had been sent for some additional customization work to be done on it. The $$ will catch their attention and make them more aware of the seriousness rather than brush it off as a girl with a silly doll head that went missing.

If you're in the US you can actually file internet fraud as well...can't remember where online since I'm not a US citizen.

Another option also is to go to a lawyer - they'll serve papers if you have the person's address or can obtain their addy (police could do so more easily through ISP LJ or whatever places she posted on or PayPal if you paid thrugh that). Serving papers generally will scare someone into the right action, however can be costly. Might want to look into lawyers that don't charge until you've won the 'case' or see how much consultation fees would cost.

If you need info the police will most likely be your best bet.....not sure what other things you can do down there though...might want to check out another thread though in the market feedback forums...I think someone else experienced something similar

Your friend probably wants the head back more than monitary return I'm guessing...so lawyer may be the way along with police. Especially if the other person is of age they could possibly get something on their permanent record or some such unless charges are dropped...but I'm not sure about that...

    15. Holy *insert swear word of choice*! I am so sorry Cauldy! I'm going to PM you in the P:st board about this because I REALLY want to help you and your friend ;_;.

And rilly- I didn't know you had an account!

    16. Not making excuses for this girl at all, cause it totally sounds like she's trying to steal the head for herself, but I wanted to address the issue that she is giving a bad name to customizers. I think anyone offering customizations who has no reputation should be required to get one by selling things on eBay or something first. I think a lot of people get into the hobby, and think, hey, I can do cheap/free face-ups for people! That'll be fun and help me start making money when I get good enough! Then they take a list of 10 commissions, and get a bunch of heads in the mail. They start to mess with a couple, then realize it's not as easy as they thought, and not so much fun anymore, especially when people are e-mailing you asking for info and pics and "can you line the eyes with metallic silver paint?" that you have to go buy.

If the person has had to get a reputation by selling other things for a while, they start to get an idea of what it's like to have a deadline on sending things out, and the amount of work that goes into doing commissions - getting an idea of what the person wants, taking frequent progress photos, etc. There's a reason that people charge money for them!

Anyway, just my two cents. ^^; Also, if you are going to send your head to an unknown, please... send your Dark Elf Soo head or something, just in case.

    17. Gosh, that is so horrible! There was a person here on DoA that was doing head swaps like this last year sometime, I wonder if it's the same person...
Since it was necessary to mail the head, you can also file a mail fraud case at the post office you mailed it from.

    18. With this in mind, I think I'll post a link to my eBay feedback in my free faceup offers thread.

    19. That's terrible! >_<
This is why I prefer buying dolls that already have a face up...
I really hope your friend will have her doll head back soon!

    20. That's terrible - good luck with sorting it out!

    21. -_- thats just sick. Whatever you chose to do about the money situation (doesnt sound like you'd get it even if both partys agreed) MAKE SURE you get that head back. There are alot of TRUST worthy customizers that can fix or add things to doll heads. I'm sure one of those individuals could help you IF the doll's head IS broken.

I am curious though. How much investigating did you do before you chose this person as your customizer? It seems that many people get the "neg" info after the fact.

I hope you get what was taken from you.

    22. Hi!
That head is worth a lot. I say at $300-450.00 USD.
I say keep looking for a auction or something that shows proof of the actuall market value.
Do they ebay? If so, watch out and see if they try and sell it.
Also, if you have their address, maybe contact the PD in their town and file a report with them.
You can also check out Riversoblood thread on her stolen SD16.
      Good Luck!!! ^_^

    23. Ohh great.. another scammer!

This sort of stuff REALLY puts buyers off dealing with private people online.

I wish you every sucess in getting that head back. This just makes you feel like you are hitting your head against a brick wall... how can someone have such disgregard for another person as to do this sort of thing.

I dont think I can take reading about another scammer .. its so disheartening.

    24. hmm id say the head is deffinatly worth more than that! I mean... a regular non-limited head from a place like luts is $110 so a limited head like yours would be MUCH more!
      I hope hope you get it back ;.;

    25. That's totally HORRIBLE!!! >_< How dare her! I can't believe this! I got to warn my friend now before she ever trust anybody to customize her doll's head... This is scaring me... Now I don't trust customizers anymore it really had cause a bad name to me... I guess I'll just have my doll's face-ups to the official ones just be safe... I never knew people are becoming like these nowadays... Actually, it is more like she kidnapped your hunny! She's DOLL-NAPPER!!! Anyway, don't worry God saw wat that person have done to you and I know He is working on her right now!... He will defenitely keep an eye on her... No one can escape from karma... I'll pray for you and your dolly's head that this will be settled soon... ^^ Have Faith! =^-^=

    26. If your friend sent the head, she probably has the persons address.
I recommend calling up the customizers local police.

    27. Wow, this is sickening, the sad thing is that this sort of behavior might happen more and more in the future as the fan base grows...I was thinking about sending my boy's head off for a face-up, now I'm a bit scared..he'll just keep the face I gave him.

I hope your friend gets her head back..

    28. oh wow this is scary. ;_; I am really sorry this happened. I really hate people like this. It makes me so angry that someone could be so disrespectful. I really hope your friend gets the head back.

    29. Ohwe don't mean to cause worry for potential people tog et their heads customized! I think getting a custom faceup by a taltented person is a big part of loving your doll! JUst amke sure you check, and double check that the person has a good track record!

About filing for mail fraud and the police, when my friend sent the head, the person was living in a different city, CrazyClam recently moved back home to Los Angeles, so the proof that my friend sent the head is to a different address. She can get her current address, though, from other customers. I hope. :[

Thank you for all the well wishes! My friend is having lots of stress from this. ;~; Stupid scammer. D:

    30. How horrible...makes me sick as well. You think BJD fans would have some sort of closeness or understanding...not this. And some of you have even met her!!! That's pretty extreme. What could drive a normal person to do that...?

      Drugs?

    31. i thought maybe this could help a little, have you tried taking your case up with: http://www.ic3.gov/? you can file your complaint online and they have a pretty user-friendly interface.

its always a little better when you have the FBI on your side. :sorry
i hope everything works out for the best.

    32. I did some digging. Here's the site blog that CrazyLilClam is parnter with. From the looks of it, she's been very sick. But she has forwarded ppl's money to the site's owner, so good news there. As for the faceup commissions, if she's sick as she claims, then there's the reason for the lapse of communication. I guess you can contact the site owner for more details and stuff.

      http://wheeh-online.livejournal.com/

    33. If you feel you have been frauded via the internet...

here are two web sites to report to...

      the first one is FBI

      http://www.ic3.gov/

It is very easy to complete.

There are other sites to report to as well...
This is the National Fraud Investigation Centre - who will review the info and pass on the report to the appropriate law inforecement office:

      http://www.fraud.org/info/contactnfic.htm

So you are not totally helpless in situations like these - take the time to file a complaint - and that alone MAY be enough to make the person act appropriately and return the head etc.

    34. I disagree with that completely. Everyone has to start somewhere. I don't use Ebay hardly EVER, I have 1 feedback so far, and I don't plan to use it unless I have to. I hate the fees and I just don't have anything to sell in the first place, because selling doesn't interest me; Customizing does.

I also prefer buying things from people on DoA rather than Ebay, so how am I supposed to ever get a reputation that way? Not everyone uses Ebay like not everyone goes on DoA and I think it's pretty ignorant to expect that.

    35. I'm sorry but I agree with Omichao, and above all if it's sometihng you don't enjoy doing you shouldn't offer it from the beginning, personally I love doing faceups and I am progressing as I go along and I would never charge anything unless I felt it was good enough. I wouldn't offer doing faceups for comissions because it is something I enjoy doing and I wouldn't want to ruin that feeling of being content. If somebody really liked my faceups and wanted me to do a faceup on their doll I would be flattered I wouldn't steal their head or rip it off from them that's just vile and if they weren't mature enough to handle the responsibility it takes to do so they shouldn't have done so in the first place, however I do think that if the person was sneaky from the beginning I don't see why she sent it in the first place, that greed right there was the first sign

    36. Ahh yeah that is the right store. :)

Unfortunately, we know about her "being too sick to even come online" even though in the pullip forum many took screenshots that she was online on mySPace, and even read their PMs dirong that time. And it was only after she came back did this "broken head" business come about. We had hope that she was just sick at first, but now we aren't going to give her any second chances.

Even after people in the pullip forum talked about going to the police, she came back right before everyone was going to press charges, and stated that she just needs MORE money from everyone to send the wigs she group ordered out. But she apparently can't send anything out until two weeks from now, even with people on her heels and wanting to call the police. >> I think possibly, this girl is just too lazy and irresponsible for her own good, and it's dug her grave, deep.

    37. Always too many excuses - and its about time buyers stopped taking excuses and giving people "time". You are either a responsible seller or you arent... its as simple as that. If people use excuses all the time - I cant get to Post Office.. I was sick... the sky fell in...I was abducted by aliens... they are not responsible.. so why give them any more opportunities to buy time with pathetic excuses.

Let face it.. when money is involved (not just a trade etc).. the probably spent the money and either dont wish to pay it back "out of their own money" or dont have access to get any money to refund... and if its just sending something... maybe they dont have the cost of the postage (a few dollars for most things).. or they have sold the item elsewhere to make MORE money..

    38. Hello Everyone (^^)/"
I had bad feelings about that CrazyClam person...(o_0)...I NEVER did any faceups for her. When I was doing free faceups last winter, I sent her my address, but she wanted to meet in person to save on shipping. I thought that was a bit ridiculous since shipping would save more time and money (she said she lived in Merced, 2 hours away from where I was), but I PM'd her directions how to get to my University anyway.

CrazyClam told me she was busy and will find time to meet at another day. Months passed and I didn't know if she was still interested in a free faceup so I assumed she wasn't interested. She contacted me later on the thread asking if I could paint her doll. I replied to her on the thread that I would, but she made no effort to contact me. I don't bother PMing her since she didn't seem to care and I wasn't going to waste my time - there were other people's dolls I needed to finish.

In the entire time I talked to her, she never gave me any address. She seemed really flakey to me (^^)' If I knew it, I would give it immediately to anyone who asked. I would get the police involved like others suggested. However, the police's efforts depend on the victims efforts. I had my wallet stolen in class, fraudulent charges on my card made, and the police didn't do anything even though the credit card company had the time and location the card was used at. All the police had to do was go to the store and look at hidden camera footage at those stores, but they were too lazy. I bothered them enough to contact the stores and the police gave me tripe about how it was up to the store to let them view the footage. It was my fault for giving up after that.

If CrazyClam lives in LA, there is a good chance she will be found. My uncle works for LAPD and they are good at solving these cases. All you need is her name and where she used to live. She has to register her car right? They can look her up on the database or whatnot. If you know where she goes to school, even better. The police can go to her school and get info.

No matter what, fight for your doll and the others who were previously hurt by CrazyClam (>_<)! Whoever is keeping silent (be it the victims or CrazyClams friends) is helping her get away with this.

I hope everything will work out in the end!

Edit: I would also like to say that because of someone like her doing rotten things, she is ruining the chances for new customizers. I remember how it was hard to start out, and all it took was one persons trust to get things started (thanks envirion :aheartbea!!!)

That meant soooo much to me - that someone trusted me! We all should be careful, but please don't completely lose faith in people.

    39. I don't mean to sound rude...but why would you give the head to someone right after that person was begging for it?

    40. As horrible as this situation is, it really warms me (in a vigilante, watch-out-for-others sort of way, and by that I mean that it makes me want to help, too, even though there's not much I can do) the way people are pulling together on the community to help and offer advice.

I hope this ends up being a happy ending. I'm sure it will, in time.

    41. I actually think as a group.. it CAN help. We need to show people who are just THINKING about doing the wrong thing.. that its not acceptable.. and people wont just shut up and take it.
Most scammers hope people will feel poweless to do anything.. and they will just simply "go away". When things go wrong.. or are just unacceptable - we should speak out.. we should act and do what we can. It may not fix something that has happened - but it might make people think twice before attempting a little bit of fraud themselves.

I must admit - I used to "let things go".. but not any more.. why should I. I am not being a nice guy by not doing anything.. I am being a sucker and I am being unfair to those who may come after me- and get scammed too.. becasue we didnt speak out. I will have no hesitation in future to report to the authorities/police/FBI/ whatever.

All the slack excuses are unacceptable too. EVERYONE has a life... everyone gets busy.. goes to work.. has kids.. goes to school/ gets tired or whatever. BUT if you set yourself up to sell something - and you get paid for it.. THAT should take priority over other things. If you CANT fulfil you end of the deal (ship etc) in a timely fashion..(not weeks!!!!!! or months.. or until someone kickes up enough fuss).. do NOT sell. Its very very simple.

    42. Well, CrazyClam only said she wanted the head AFTER she had it in her possesion.

I've quoted a post made by the head owner on PullipStyle Forum, because I think you need to log in to read anything.
FYI, Cass is CrazyClam's name. Any other users mentioned are members of PullipStyle who also got stolen from.

    43.
    44. Sorry, my original post said "eBay or something" and the overall point was that I felt people should get some basic experience in selling via mail, and customer service before being trusted with 500 dollar heads. It doesn't have to be eBay.

    45. I'm rather curious if there has been any more news regarding this- the thread on Pullipstyle has been deleted ;_;.

    46. Well, Zombor hasn't mentioned anything except that her brother is still calling his police friends aboutt he issue. But as far as I know, all CrazyClam has done is disappear again... :[

    47. I just read this, what an awful story, such a shame.

Is there anything to report yet?

    48. O_O

I'm shocked that anyone would do that to you. I really hope you get your head back.

    49. urggh...I hope this works out.

    50. I feel sick, I read every single post on this thread and now that I'm posting, I literately feel sick.
Thank you for stating this, and I think everyone is right, the police must be contacted, keep bugging her.
And If there is ANYTHING I can do to help, please don't hesitate to ask, I know I'm only 13, But I am capable.

    51. Sorry to drudge up an old topic, but I just wanted to pop in and let you all know that, yes, I did get my head back. It took the FBI calling her and telling her she'd be thrown in jail, but she did send it back eventually.

Thank you everyone for all your help and well-wishes! You helped immensely!

    52. Good for you, Zombor.

      *hugs*

    53. So what did the "damage" end up looking like?

    54. So glad you got your head back; I am also sickened by the whole issue.
I would also like to know if the head was damaged as she said it was.

    55. I'm so happy you got the head back! I think if the head is damaged or not (and even though it was eventually returned) you should still take action against this Cass person. D: If she isn't put straight for doing wrong she'll just keep doing it again. People like that make me feel ill. > n <; I hope all of her other transactions with people are sorted out too.

    56. Well, she is trying to do group orders in an LJ EGL community, but most of the Pullip community is working to warn the mods of that community and stop her before she scams again.

Unfortunately, with the head back in my possession, there isn't really anything else I can do, according to the FBI.

As for the condition of the head, it was exactly as I had sent it out. She hadn't even removed the factory paint, which means she was lying from day one, which also means she is INTENTIONALLY scamming people, not just getting in over her head like so many had hoped. :\

    57. Very very interesting... but for your sake I am so pleased the head IS in the same condition as you sent it. And you are right.. the lies about the damage - tell you a whole lot!

    58. Wow..I am so glad it ended well. Too bad you had to go through all this crap in the first place.
I am happy you got it back! ^_^

    59. So glad to know there is a happy ending to this tale and that you have your boy back in your hands again. Akira is much rarer than $150 for his head, and really, if you put a little bit of gloss on his lips it helps him out a lot. Factory paint is safe! Keep him and cuddle him close for a long time!
