Aesthetics Please give me feedback on my faceup

Jan 6, 2019

    1. Hi, I made this face up, and I would love to get some ideas to what I could do better :)
For example, I'm not so happy with how the eyebrows look but I don't know why...
And should the blushing be stronger?

    2. I think your blushing is very good! And your brows aren't bad, but if you look at your brows in a mirror... you'll see that your brow hairs don't grow in the same direction. Some grow down, some grow up and some grow sideways. And the hairs are very very tiny. When I do my brows, I use watercolor pencils and I use scissors/knife to shave the points really really sharp and thin. Then I make the tiny hairs. Overall, I like your faceup! I think it's pretty. :)

    3. The faceup is extremely well done!
I agree that the brows are the element that need a little correction. Eyebrows reach to the inside corner of the eye and tend to taper towards the outer edge. How you arch the brow conveys the overall expression & emotion for the face. The current arch gives the impression of uncertainty and concern or worry.
I would look at how far past the inner corner of the eye the brow stretches and how the other side seems to stop abruptly and doesn't stretch to the outer corner. The brows are very uniform in width, you may want to consider shaping them with a bit of a taper.
The overall appearance is excellent. You did a fantastic job with the overall blush and blending. The line work you incorporated in the lips is very well done!

    4. This looks really nice actually! I think you could definitely make the blushing stronger if you wanted an even more exaggerated cheek blush, but that element is a personal choice I think. Adding more shading with a neutral color to give the faceup more depth is something you could do if you want to achieve something like that in the future. As for the eyebrows, the hairs are the only place i think you could really improve the most. In general if you're using paint, a nice small brush with a good point is super helpful. It also helps to practice painting hairs on a spare head cap or something like that. (Same goes for if you're using pencils) You could also find makeup videos where people do microblading eyebrow hairs to help figure out how to get more realistic hair placement and direction. Keep up the good work though! Despite technical details your faceup has a lot of personality and life to it:)

    5. Wow, thank you guys so much for the advice and encouragement! :)
I'll try and practice more of the shape and hairs of the eyebrows. Looking at human eyebrow tutorials is a good idea!
I'm using watercolor pencils at the moment but maybe I haven't been sharpening it enough. I think it's difficult to keep them thin also because I sometimes go back and try and make the color stronger by doing them again. Maybe I could try and do that in a different way.
