Playing with Super Sculpey.

Jun 19, 2008

    1. Playing with Super Sculpey. My MSD Elf man.

Here is my second time sculpting a "human" since 1990-something.
Back then I was using regular earth clays, but since I no longer have access to a kiln I've been playing with other materials.
This is my MSD sized elf man, he's made with Super Sculpey and I can't say I'm entirely happy with him or the Super Sculpey. He's lumpy and full of air bubbles, and he's been baked a couple of times so the thinner spots have become burnt.:o
I've been playing with Apoxie Sculpt for doll mods and I think I'm going to start using that instead.

The best light is in my bathroom, I hope no one minds.:pout

I'll be starting a new one as soon as I have the time and money.
(I wouldn't have posted him but I feel bad getting to see everyone else's WIP/ dolls and not sharing my own. :sweat )

    2. that is a great head and flat out gorgeous ears!!!

don't you hate it when the sculpy burns like that, but it adds kind of interesting color...

i love the more adult msd idea, and you've got a really nice torso going for him too. can't wait to see more pics,

    3. He's looking great! I agree with Patl the ears are fab! Can't wait to see more of your work.

    4. WOW Can't wait to see more!!

    5. I agree with everyone too, I'd like to see more work on the torso, the face has great character and the ears are really awesome.

    6. Any progress with this? I'd love to see. Oh, I wanted to tell you that when I use sculpey I boil it in water to harden it, it gives it a white-like cast, but there's no scorch marks.

    7. I updated this head to be a faceplate and adapted it to fit the same head back as my finished doll Richard. I've named him Imp and he's a gift item in my first order period. I'm having him cast with Haru casting.
