Planning sketches, need opinion from fresh eyes (two pictures)

Dec 26, 2010

    1. First of all, here is a digitally colored basic drawing of her:
(There is slight nudity without details, but NSFW warning just in case)

The joints are not drawn, but this is to give a basic idea of her appearance without accessories or anything.

SO! The actual topic of this...I've made some very basic drawings of the jointed body to understand how it works better. I've only got a facing view for now, but I'd like a fresh set of eyes to maybe point out if theres anything wrong. I know that staring at your work for a look time can biase so, if you see anything wrong in the anatomy, feel free to tell me! (also feel free to scribble on top of the picture if you have to)

Also, I am aware that I do not draw symmetry very well, so I took her left side and flipped it in the second picture, and it looks a lot like what I want to achieve.
First picture, I cleaned it up on photoshop. (hands are tiny I know)

And here is the flipped version for symmetry: (bright red lines were added on photoshop after the flip)

Of course I'd probably have to adjust a few things on the flipped image...oh well. Here's a link to the original unedited sketch if it interests anybody, but it's just dirtier and sketchier.

Phew, I think that's all I have to say :o. If anybody's got comment I'll aprpeciate them all!

    2. I wish I had my tablet on me so I could scribble on her in photoshop but you'd have to wait until Friday for that (complicated living situation). When drawing or sculpting females, everything should be curved and the wrists and ankles should taper. As a rule of thumb you should follow the rough shape of an upside down bowling pin. At the moment there's nothing wrong with her proportions, especially for the size you've chosen for her. Her nose is a bit too wide and lips too thin, but I also understand it's only a very rough drawing. I found out the hard way; it's always worth your time spending a little more thought on your plans.

      Have fun <3

    3. Oh it's fine, thank you for commenting! ^^

Yeah well I have a tendency to draw female with big butts (accidently) because of the curves I put, and I wanted her to be more average, but I still wanted a bit more curves at the top:XD. But I also lack practise drawing noses and lips, so my noses are always pretty big and I've only recently started adding a small line for lips, so that's something I'll work on.

I'm gonna get some big sheets of graph paper to draw her full size soon, but I'll keep on sketching her.

Thank you very much for the comment!
