Hi, I'm Lucille Faulkner of Phoenix dolls, I hope you don't mind me commenting in your thread Although I can't speak for our customers one or two of them have shared their experience with us.

Three days ago the lovely Lynn Perkins posted on her blog about her experience with Android Mei

She even tried her new phoenix doll head on a huge selection of dolls to check the fit and colour match. Very informative.

oh wow awesome You seem like you have a plan for Liu then, I'd love to see what you end up doing with her. Will you be making a work in progress thread like with your other projects?

 

Just ordered a Liu head! I am so excited to have stumbled across Phoenix dolls.

There has been a third body added to the two listed above, that are compatible with the Phoenix Dolls head sculpts - Supia 65cm.
Here is the information from their website [photos noted in the text can be seen on their website] : Supia was a surprise fit and match, Below is a picture of a Supia SD in their normal resin colour which matches our Classic Cream (previously called Oriental colour) resin perfectly.

Also, the resin colors have changed names - [text from PhoenixDolls website]
The resin colours stay the same but the name clarification changes.

Our normal resin is now called Fine Cream and our Oriental resin is now called Classic cream.

The head arrived today. It is so beautiful. Lots of detail/bone structure. It might be a while before she gets a face-up. My daughter has just finished her first year as an art major and I asked her if she wanted to try doing it. Here is a photo, but just does not do the head justice on the sculpting details. Wow, the new head is so different/realistic which I love! And Lui is stunning as well. I hope they'll be available a long while because I can't purchase for a long while, LOL. But I'd love both of these girls! What color did you get @LaurieESW ? And what is the body color please

 

I ordered Liu in classic cream, to match Supia's normal resin color.

These are so gorgeous, I have both heads in my shopping cart, but no idea how I could possibly pay for them, LOL.

I understand. I really like Neave too. The resin wish-list grows ever longer.
The MSC arrives tomorrow and hoping my daughter can work on Liu's face-up. Fingers crossed she can do it. Otherwise, I will have to find an artist with an opening. I am so excited to see her come to life with a face-up, she is so amazing blank.

 

Nothing better than to have your own daughter's artwork on your prized possession! Maybe she can earn money on the side by doing faces to pay for school?

 

Hi all, I have a beautiful Phoenix Doll Orla head, with a wonderful face up by Hazel (emperorofbread on instagram). She's so gorgeous just even as a head on a bust, I'm looking for bodies to hybrid with her.

I've hear Dollstown and Supiadoll bodies reccommended a lot, but are there any other others that people know work well?

 

@americanseamstress Wow, amazing amount of bodies! Thank you for sharing them in the video, I will give it a watch and maybe PM you. It doesn't look like Nobilitydoll sell that body right now, so I will have a look at the video to see that body too

So nice to see more photos! @Ashemanu , her pale and grey faceup with the bright red hair is an amazing effect! Wow!

@ella_tron I love the skin texturing on her face, she looks so "real"! (of course she's real, but you know what I mean ) and the deep set eyes are nicely enhanced!

 

Yes, that was my thoughts too. However, she has been hired to do some other painting jobs so I did the face-up myself. This is my first every face-up. I am pretty pleased with the outcome, except for the lower lashes. I redid them three times and then had to just go with it because the humidity was rising ahead of rain for our area. I wanted to get the head sealed so I can start enjoying her. Sometime I will try again, but for now, enjoying her. Need to order her a wig, just waiting on deciding about a wig and eyes until I got a feel for her look.

She looks fantastic, love the gray tones with the pop of the red wig!

Thank You. It gives me hope that I can improve with practice. It is fun but an exercise in patience!
Here she is in a wig. I have ordered her a Monique wig without bangs. I think she looks better without bangs.

I know this thread is older, but I just purchased the Liu head! So excited! Phoenix Doll has amazing sculpts!!

 

No photos yet - but my recently arrived Neave head fits and poses perfectly on a Dollstown 17 Girl body. Scale looks good too!

@fishcake - As soon as her eyes arrive, I'll take pics and post here. : ) Just got her painted!

 

I know that a size 8 wig is recommended for Liu, but any advice on which way to go when having to choose between 7-8 inch and 8-9 inch?

 

I found that 7-8 seemed best, 8/9 ran big but was okay.

Hi @Evey - I agree with LaurieESW - Definitely go with a 7/8 wig. I found that Monique Gold 7/8 fit my Neave perfectly. That said, I'm in the process of making a wig for her, and it's an interesting project.

Does anyone have pictures or a description of the new “white rose” resin color? Thanks in advance for any info! I’m curious to see what it looks like and what Dollshe resin it’s closest to.

Nekane (Liu) 's body arrived yesterday, and she is so thrilled to have limbs that she asked me to share another picture The head and body aren't a perfect resin match (head is Phoenix "classic cream", and body is Dollshe "pale"), but she doesn't seem to care.

I'm hearing that Phoenix Dolls has gone out of business, but can't find any detailed information. Their website is down. Does anyone know what happened? Their work is so outstanding, it would be so sad if they closed down (unless they are moving on to even greater artistic endeavours, of course!)

We are rising from the dead!
I'm still looking for a body for my Liu. 58-60 cm. I originally thought of Granado nuevo, which suits great, but this body is too massive and high compared to the other characters in my story. I want my girl to be skinny (with nicely defined bones) and with small breasts. And double-jointed with 3-part torso.
I'm looking for a real unicorn (???), or do you know about such a body?

As for bodies, I am still relatively new in the hobby so I don't have many bodies. @americanseamstress was kind enough to make a video [YouTube] for me with her Liu head and several bodies, but I was looking for a larger girl.

I see you already own the Supia single jointed body which is what I first thought of when you mentioned a skinny 58cm body. I took a look at the measurements for the Granado nuevo, and it seems similar to my F65 (~62 cm) and Iplehouse nSID (62cm) so those two bodies are probably too large for your needs as well. The nSID is skinny, and I have her on the small bust if you want me to take a photo for you.

I also own a Iplehouse nYID body which is 58cm, but she is curvy rather than skinny. I can do take a photo with Liu on her head too if it would help.

As for bodies that I don't own that might work through looking at photos, maybe DF-H 58cm [Alice Collections]?

 

Thank you for advice! My Elfdoll Vivien is on Supia single body. It is pretty and skinny, but I need other body sculpt for my Liu. My next choice is the older Bimong's Narae 60 body, she's super posseable, but... $
