Payment Phishing?

Aug 30, 2011

    1. Have there been any problems recently with phishing reported from doll sites? A phishing scam actually got my number connected to my stepdad's account and tried to get information from me. There shouldn't be any record connecting my number to any bank account, -except- when I ordered from doll sites we used my number. Recently I've ordered from Junkyspot, DenverDoll, Mintoncard as well as dollyhair.com.

      Any help/advice/tips/warnings?

    2. I've ordered twice from Denverdoll in the past month and not encountered any issues, if that's any help, haven't hit any of the other sites. A talented scoundrel can usurp almost any site, have you been in touch with said sites so they can double-check with their hosting companies?

    3. Denverdoll hasn't given me any problems either, nor has Mint on card, or Junkyspot.. Perhaps it is hosting.

    4. It could be something on the individual computer as well. Spyware, keyloggers and trojans are easier to get than people realize, are much more discreet than they used to be, and much better at fooling anti-virus programs. I would recommend doing a thorough scan of your computer just to be safe.

    5. If they just said "Hi we're from suchandsuch bank" and it was the bank your stepdad happens to use, it probably wasn't based on any information. A lot of phishing is just based on blind guesses. For instance, I get a lot of spam from people trying to get my ebay account info and I don't use ebay. I also get lots of phishing emails from banks I do not and have never done business with.
