Hi all, I need a bit of help. How do I go about paying at check out with the balance in my paypal? I've only ever paid via CC through paypal. So, I don't really know how to change the option. :/ Any help would be appreciated.
Which company are you trying to go through, or are you just sending money to a seller? If its an individual seller, you fill out the first page of info (Email, amount, purchase type/gift). On the second page, the review payment page, should be a "payment method" section. It'll say credit card, or something else depending on how you have the default set. Click "change" just beneath this, and it should give you the option to pay with paypal balance.
Well, any company really. I just want to know if I can go through the normal shopping cart checkout and pay via the balance instead of cc.
If you have a PayPal balance, or even if you've got a confirmed bank account, you should be able to pay sans credit card. If your balance in PayPal is $0 and you pay 'with bank account' this is an e-check, and it will technically not 'clear' until the money transfers over from your bank account, which can take up to 5 business days. Some sellers don't like e-checks! If you have, say, $500 in your PayPal balance right now and you want to buy a doll for $450, you should be able to sign into your PayPal manually or as part of the 'checkout' process with some companies, and once you're in PayPal the option should be set to your balance automatically, or as noted, you can click Change to have it switch over to your PayPal balance. In this instance the other party will get the money instantly, minus any fees of course. I've purchased several dolls via this method and it's always gone smoothly. If you have $500 in yur PayPal balance and want to buy a doll for $650, the circumstance I've always seen is a multiple choice: $500 from your balance and $150 from your bank account, which again can be swapped out to be a credit card, etc. I'm hopeful this has answered your question; if not, I'll try to elaborate more if you let me know where I've confused you! .hlp
Actually, PayPal automatically applies any balance in your PayPal account first, before going to your cc or bank balance. Also, just to set the record straight, echecks and instant transfers (bank balance) are NOT the same. Echecks are like paper checks - they take time to clear. Instant transfers are just that - instant. See PayPal's own descriptions: Instant Transfer ECheck
That's what I thought too and I've reviewed those links, but then I apparently paid someone via instant transfer (my PayPal is set-up for all this obviously) and she was all 'I don't do e-checks' but the money was supposedly there for her and obviously it was in my bank account to be moved...I have no idea what happened to her! I am in the US, but since then I've been antsy about doing 'instant transfers' when I've had any doubt at all! Oh, but let me edit this to add: no doll company has ever had any issue with my paying out of my bank account, which since they aren't sending dolls for months anyway, makes perfect sense. But I've had Leeke send out orders the day after I've paid, and they never seemed concerned about this either, so company ordering should not be a hassle, and if you have the total in PayPal balance, it completely is a non-starter for you. .hlp
If you do not have a valid credit card on file, Paypal will use your bank account information to do an e-check if you have no money as a Paypal balance. If you have a valid credit card, they will do the same transaction as an instant transfer that clears instantly based on the assumption if the money is not there in your bank account when they go to pull it, they will use the credit card on file as back up funding. You could have possibly hit a window where your credit card expired and needed to be updated and thus all of your instant transfers reverted to echecks. That happened to me once.
Hmm, that is possible, and it was also the period when I was moving and all my info was betwixt and between...if my credit card addy wasn't matching up with my bank addy maybe that did it? I actually never use my credit card that's attached. Good to know however! I felt so horrible when I got scolded for something I'd never intended. .hlp
