I REALLY want to, but she doesn't stand on her own. That is the only reason i am hesitant because I don't have any stands lol!

 

Very true!! I do love her feet though. She is very dainty!

 

I love her face, but I have enough difficulty posing my hooved Soom dolls who ARE engineered to stand on their own. Handling a doll that size who can't support herself sounds like way more than I could deal with.

I hope they come out with some human dolls eventually though! Pan is really lovely.

 

I think I am going to order her....I am a Helenic Polythesist and Pan has a dear place in my heart....I melted when I saw her but I didn't think I could find clothing/hair/face up that is worthy of her...but I think..I am..going..to..do..it...

@rain2sunshine I too am not very happy that she can't stand on her own. But as I'm already using doll stand for some of my BJDs I took her nonetheless!
I will need a 70cm doll stand now. Maybe an invisible stand, like those you can find on alicecollection?

I've already bought some clothes for her. Hope it will fit her!

@rain2sunshine I took an Iplehouse EID woman outfit. This one.
It may be too wide at the soulders and a little short on her legs, but I think it can be nice nonetheless!

Goregous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am tied...I have a character that I used to play all the time and would love to bring her back into play. She has lanterns hanging from her horns, butterflies follow her, and she is a like a light warrior. She is very humble and loving but a fighter when need be. She sees the best in all I am still really searching, but right now, I really like the:

@rain2sunshine I'm not sure of how the boys outfits may fit the Pan. The Spiritdoll Proud boy outfit may be wide enough on the breast (and even far too wide at the soulders). But the two others? I don't know.
I do have the SID Wild Flower set, I was thinking of trying it on the Pan. But I fear it will be far to short and maybe not enough wide for the waist and bust. I bought it for a Soom Supergem
Anyway they are all very nice outfits!

I ordered Pan as well. I got her in WS. I'm so excited!
I really don't care that she can't stand on her own, she can just recline like the queen that she is.

I got mine today!
Hnnnnng...she is...perfection. She just blew every other doll I've ever handled out of the water.
While I was waiting for her I could only think of painting her, but now that I've seen her, I think I need some time with her blank. Just to drink her in!

Mine has some outfits but still no wig, eyes or face-up :

I'm wondering in wich colors I'm going to make her wig... black? brown? Shade of brown and green like a dead leaf?

Haha, so I don't know if this still counts as "soon"...but here is a photo of my WS pan. I've named her Balqis.



Basically, she is the color of paper or of porcelain. A beautiful, stark white. Actually, when I unpacked her for the first time I had the strangest sensation that she was porcelain.

Aw, thank you! Hehe, my daughter was asleep. So I figured I should seize the opportunity!
I'm trying to pin down just how I want to customize her. Too many ideas...but she looks so lovely blank, that it's not really so much trouble. Hehe. Have you figured out what hair color you want yet?

I'll make her faceup after her wig. That way I can still search what I want for her perfect face. She is beautiful blank and I don't really know what to do to enhance her feature.

It looks like it's coming out lovely already. The wig cap is really nicely fitted. Hehe, and she looks pretty even just like that!

Out of curiosity, what torso is she on? It looks really interesting with the sculpted armor.

 

The wig cap used to be nicely fitted. Once put on and pull off the head 5-6 times, he is less fitted!
She is on a loongsoul torso. A limited one, for the Xyanuan doll if I remember well. The doll has a mechanical arm too. I modded the normal torso rather than using the sculpted one.

 

Heheh. Aw, I could see how that would happen.

I'm contemplating modding my Pan's headcap to have a growth of shelf mushrooms as a sort of "hair"...but I'm intimidated to actually mod such a wonderful doll. Maybe I'll see about making some sort of head cap with the mushrooms...or just bite the bullet eventually.

Yeah, it's definitely a very "technically" sort of position. Hehe.
Once I had tweaked her just-so she just balanced like a rock (she had been teetering on the edge of balance for what felt like ages), but it was still pretty scary to see her standing on those delicate little hooves! I would say that while she can stand, the risk probably isn't worth it under the normal circumstances we'd have a doll stand. Her horns are already prone to slipping loose, I can only imagine her body flying in one direction, her horns each in their own, and the force of all that taking the head off the s-hook and sending it flying in yet a fourth direction. It would be a doll massacre.

 

@Lady Ravenswood Wow! Thank you so much for your picture. Do you think if I added magnets the bottom of her hooves she would be "sturdier" on a flat metal base? Rather than using a stand I mean? Or do her knees tend to buckle?

 

@Arekushia: Umm....I don't know if that would help. Her knees don't buckle that easily. But there are just a LOT of joints in her legs where something could buckle over a longer period of time. I only had her standing long enough to snap about 3 photos with my hand near by, realize that I couldn't fit the whole doll in the frame from that distance, take a deep breath, mutter a wish and a hope that I wasn't about to destroy something beautiful, take my hand away, and snap two more photos.

She seemed really stable...but just looking at that distribution of resin with SOOOO MUCH on the top and soooo little on the bottom...I can't imagine it's a sustainable pose for any real length of time. I really, really do recommend using a stand. Honestly. I don't wanna be the death of Pans around the world. Ack!

Also, Pan is just soooo heavy. Magnets would certainly grip her somewhat, but doubt they'd be able to really hold her if she stared to tip. She's such a big doll. And those hooves are so little. I'm not sure if you could really squeeze magnets in there without hitting how they attach inside. Hmm...

 

@Lady Ravenswood Wow, she is amazing when she stands alone! The position is a little.. strange, but it must have been soooooooooooo difficult to manage her standing without a stand. I'm impressed!
I tried it for, what, 5 minutes and it was just a big " no way"


Btw I've learn that if you wish to mix the two MSD made by Pathos Tale, it is possible. You need to ask it by mail, but it is possible.

Haha, yeah. It was a matter of leveling the hooves over and over and then adjusting each joint in turn, testing the balance, and then doing it all again. So by the end, the pose made itself.

But oooooh my! Your Pan looks so lovely! Ahhh.
Is it possible to get just a straight shot of her faceup? I'd love to get a better view of her different eyes and they way they play into the two halves of her faceup.

 

Nooo... I think... I have regret I passed on Pan, but now I'm not so sure I should have!

Pathos Tale is definitely a company I'm keeping my eye on. Really cool stuff so far!

 

I got a bunch of little flowers and berries while all the fall foliage stuff is on sale at the craft store. Hehe. I want to fill up my Pan's horns like a verdant cornucopia! I loved how Pathos Tale placed little things in her horns so much.
I keep getting a Persephone theme with her (I almost named her Persephone) and would love to have dripping red little seeds like a pomegranate. I couldn't find anything with quite the translucency I wanted, but I have lots of things I can play around with...and I didn't end up naming her Persephone anyway...haha, unless she changes on me.

 

Hehe, yes. I named her Balqis.

Crystals would be so fun! I had wondered about making them look like geodes too!
It will be so much fun to see all the Pans when they are customized.

Well, I have to admit that I'm having rather a lot of fun playing around with my Pan just blank. I did a couple of crazy photo edits today with a program I had downloaded so that I could make the GIF for the triathlon. I sort of love how watercolor-y they came out. It's making a little part of me not want to paint her. Hehe. Just a little part.

Oooh, speaking of ways to make tiny crystals you can fit just how you like...I just stumbled across this video!

 

That faceup is amazing! She looks so pretty

 

If sculpting isn't your thing, growing real crystals is actually not hard at all, either! Here's an example video -- Off the top of my head, I know you can grow crystals from Borax, sugar, or salt-- they all look slightly different due to their chemical properties, I think, so google a bit to see what you like. The basic process is the same for all of them, though.
Personally, I'd also coat them in clear nail polish or some sort of clear finish (especially if they're salt or sugar crystals), just to prevent the coloring from going haywire and the air moisture from messing with them.
I'd also probably say "screw it" to the big shape, and just break the crystal/use the smaller crystals that form in the jar.

Honestly, that's got me thinking-- I'd really like to do this now! That would be such an amazing cool touch for any doll.

By the way, didn't Pathos Tale release a teaser for their next doll...? I can't seem to find it anymore. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I don't know yet when I'll finish... all these pearls have given me a little headache ^^' and I hesitate to the lower part.

I saw the teaser on instagram too, but I'm not sure it's a large doll.

 

Yup! The doll with the antlers is the one I was referencing (Though back then, she was just a doll, sans antlers)

I think I can confidently say she's a "miss" for me; not my aesthetic-- Also, I hope those attached antlers don't give PathosTale too much shipping hassle!

On a lark, I popped a wig on my Pan and gave her Victory rolls...and I kinda fell in love with this style on her! Her features really suit it. After all of the crazy, complicated fantasy themes I've been going back and forth in my head for her...I think I'm just going to make her fantastic pin-up style!
Though now I have to decide if I can cut holes in this wig to put her horns on or what I have to do here...
