Hello, all! I'm thinking about getting a few Pan Pastels! The main color I want is a natural warm pink for cheeks. I'm not planning on getting into faceups full scale (not yet anyway), but I would like to be able to give my blank girls a little color on their cheeks and lips. I'm not sure which color would be better, as they don't have a huge range of pinks. Does anyone have a suggestion on whether it is best to get a red and white and mix them or try something like Permanent Red Tint? Thank you!
I think the Red Iron Oxide Tint is a bit more natural. But it really depends on what color resin your dolls are. Bright red would look odd on a doll with yellow ish undertones in her resin.
Seconding Red Iron Oxide tint! but i would recommend getting a hold of a pan of white and the white glitter( only if you wanna add a more neutral sparkle to your doll). The white from pan pastel is most opaque and cooperative white I've found! So if you think it might be necessary, i would go for it!
Personally I use permanent red shade for my cheeks. I just use it a tiny bit at a time (like I only briefly touch the tin and then wipe most of it off on a paper towel) until I build up a natural blush color. I personally like that method better than using a tint because then it will also work on darker skintones, it naturally blends into the undertone of the resin. Plus if you want a darker pink/red for parts of the lips you can just build it up more. Sometimes I also layer it with Burnt Sienna to give it a peachier tone if I feel like it's too pinky pink.
Thank you all very much! I was thinking of getting a brown too - Burnt Sienna sounds good! Currently most of my dolls are either pale pink/cream or a light tan, so it would be good to have a color that works with different skin tones. I'll look into the darker reds for sure!
