Ooof, so I started paining the wings of my DC Eunice. I'm currently on layer three and four on the outside of the wings and on layer two of the connector pieces of the wings. This is the biggest project so far, I couldn't finish even one side in one day. I've been using pastels, which is why this takes forever. Iridescent Sennelier colors, mostly. - I'll have to add probably two more layers to the wings (probably six in total) + a layer of satin finish, so the shimmer becomes visible. - Add shiny green paint on the currently black vines. I'm thinking of using Coliro Dragon. - Repeat everything on the inside of the wings - add at least three layers to the connector pieces. - add sueding to the doll to protect wings and improve mobility - actually manage to string the wings back onto the doll (getting them off was already a challenge) Eunice currently has a knitting needle where her wings normally are to keep the elastic from disappearing into the doll. I haven't painted her shoes yet either, but I think that can wait for now...
Well, I've finished one side. Took seven layers. Needed about one hour per layer. Now that I'm seeing it though, I'm not wether I prefer the satin finish or the matte. I'll have to think about it.
Second side finished! I got caught up in the project and didn't think to take in between pics I made the inside more bluish than purple. Painting them went well, but putting them back on the doll...was a process. I chipped some paint, but it's not too visible and I'm certainly not going to take them off again to fix it.
They look awesome! I love seeing what people choose to do with unusual parts like this. Any chanse for a picture of the doll with the wings on?
