Paging Vanillashine

Dec 10, 2006

    1. Vanillashine, I've attempted several times to contact you through email, PM, telephone, your recent eBay auction, your LiveJournal community, etc. to inquire about my comission. It would really put my mind at ease if you would please get back to me as soon as you can.

You had claimed on your (now-deleted) LiveJournal that my comission was completed on November 19. I had already paid you money for shipping charges back to me, but if you need money to send my doll head back, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Please return my property. Or at the very least, contact me to let me know what is going on.

      --

If anybody is in contact with Bev, could you please pass the word?

      Thank you so much :daisy

Edit 1-27-07 I received my doll's head back on 1-9-07. The refund that was promised me by the following week has not arrived.

Ashbet is still waiting for her doll head. :doh

Edit 2-25-07 Ashbet has received her property back. Refunds are still outstanding.

    2. I would like everyone to know Bev does not work at Dollfair. She left in early November. If she is not returning your phone calls or emails.. I just want you to know she is not here at the shop. Please don't ask me to contact her for you, because honestly I don't know where she is living now.

I have had several emails and phone calls from people whose doll heads are with Bev and are very late. I hope she will get in touch with them soon because I'm sure the owners would like their dolls to be home for Christmas.
      Catrina

    3. thanks for the info catrina. She told me pics this morning, and then pics today, i'm just getting tired of waiting, i just want athena back. :( Bumps for today.

    4. Bump. I still have not heard word about my doll.

Vanillashine, I see that your last activity was on 12-11-06 on DoA. Please, please get back to me as soon as possible. This is stressing me out.

    5. nikittin, i sent her an email saying you were wanting to know the status of your doll, my advice is keep bugging her until she sends you something. She said she sent my head yesterday, but i haven't had a delivery confirmation number yet. were all crossing our fingers on this one, huh? i'll cross my toes too.

    6. Thank you for passing word to Bev.

I'm sure your doll looks lovely - Bev is very talented. I hope you get that tracking number soon.

    7. yes, she is talented, but sometimes no matter how talented you are, communication is key to business, always letting your customer what's up and everything, at least i think so.

    8. Bump for you, because I know how awful it is to be waiting to get your doll back...

    9. still no delivery confirmation number, let's hope she did mail her out, and hopefully she'll be home today or tomorrow, sigh. :(

    10. Bumping for Nicky.

    11. Bev has always been really good with me on e-mails, and she's never just... so completely disappeared before... Is anyone else actually worried about Bev? Like... about the person? I'm worried. :(

    12. Yes, I am. And so are others.

Thank you Connie for the bumps ^^

    13. yes, i'm worried, but it seems to me she was having computer trouble, and making excuses. When you have people's things that cost alot of money, and money they gave to you to do a service for them, the least you could do is keep in contact with them, if she was having personal problems, she shouldn't have opened more slots. And don't harp on me, i'm fed up, and i just want my girl back home.

    14. no athena today, she told me she would be here before my meet tomorrow. i would pay the extra for overnight shipping, at this point, i'll do anything to bring her home, it's like a piece of me gone away. :(

    15. I'd just like to say, I wasn't trying to 'harp' on anyone... I think it is important to realize sometimes, though, that artists are human beings first, and sometimes things happen that are out of the ordinary. Being quite so MIA is unusual for Bev. It isn't like her. So instead of being quite so ready to jump ship and abandon all your faith in her, maybe people could keep in mind that wherever she is, however she is, I am sure she's doing her best to keep everything together. It's barely been only what? A month? If that? Since she fell off the internet?

A little patience and tolerance for human failings might be nice to see... especially around this time of year. I am sure everyone's property is in good hands, perfectly safe, and I hope things work themselves out in time for everyone who has business with Bev right now.

    16. I don't speak for everybody in this thread - just myself. But I just want to put it out there that this thread was intended to get the attention of the person I am seeking - Vanillashine.

It is not a thread intended to create animosity towards Vanillashine. It is a thread paging her so she will contact me.

I do not wish Bev any ill will - in fact, I hope and pray she is safe, healthy, and doing okay. I just want her to contact me as soon as she possibly can.

This is not a witch hunt. This is a customer inquiring about a business transaction.

    17. yes, i am too worried, but i worked hard for my girl, and i would just like to know if she's going to come home soon anytime soon.

    18. Bumping again for myself and for the others that are waiting for vanillashine to update us.

    19. Wow, I certainly hope you all get intouch with her and I also hope nothing 'bad' happed to her, like an accident :aeyepop:

    20. I have received emails requesting phone numbers and addresses... I cannot legally do that.

I am also worried about Bev personally. And since she persists in using my company's email in her marketplace thread, I have to say again: she does not work with me anymore. I'd really like her to stop using that email address because I think it misleads people in thinking she is still reachable here and that I have responsibility for her work.

I will answer one person's email question: yes, this did happen when she was here. I got a series of desperate emails and phone calls in October and November from people who she would not communicate with regarding her custom work (which she'd had over two months, according to the callers). They were told she had computer and phone trouble too-- but at the shop we have five computers and high speed wireless, plus loads of shipping supplies and boxes. She used her own laptop in the shop and often sent me files by email, and there was never one bit of trouble. It's also very easy to get free access at libraries and other spots.. if there really is computer trouble.

That being said, I think Bev is enormously talented. Most of the time we had a really enjoyable time working together. I was sorry things didn't work out for her here at my shop, but I do wish her the best.

      Catrina

    21. This is all just frustrating and disappointing, and i just want my girl home, i paid too much money to have no communication at all from her. My girl is finished and everything, all she needs to do is get to a post office and mail her, i even told her i would pay the extra for overnight shipping. I have family trouble and health issues going on right now, and if i was selling something, i still would be at reach for my customers. Also, please, anyone who doesn't have any "helpful info" for this thread, do not post please, especially if you've haven't been in our situation like this. i didn't work at McDonald's for a month to buy my girl, and have her somewhere i don't know and when will she be back at all, you know? Thanks dollyholic for the info, hopefully this will make more people aware before sending their dolls to anyone to research that person first.

Edit: i am selling something, the mnf boy clothes set, opps.

    22. Here's one of the pics she sent me tuesday.

now if she could just mail her out, i would be very happy. Everyone who is waiting on their head/s to get back from bev, please post here.

    23. What I know is that she got a computer virus in an email and has had no ends of trouble keeping the laptop booted, let alone getting it online and accessing webpages.

There are some free/inexpensive places to get online, granted, but a lot of places are starting to restrict what you can and cannot do with the computers... I know one place local to me no longer allows USB devices to be plugged in.

Dolly: I'm sure as soon as she can get online, she'll change the email addy. She's probably forgotten she'd changed it to begin with.

She has two of my girls, and I'm not worried. :) She's insanely talented, a miracle worker with paint, and IMHO, the faceups are well worth the wait. ^_^

    24. Yes, well when someone promises you they will send your head out and then boom, no head or communication, it bothers me. i just want her to be home for christmas, if she isn't it will seriously ruin my christmas. i've gotten so depressed over athena not being home, for now on, i only know one person i'll send my dolls to.

    25. I hate to say, but I also had a hard time getting a hold of her when we had our transaction...and that was 4 months ago, so I think the problem may be more than a computer virus. Also, during that time she had several post on her live journal from July and August about a customer who was complaining about not getting her commissioned head back or something like that. I really do not think this is unusual behavior for her.
However, she did send me the doll in the end, it just took longer than she said it would...

    26. i really hope she comes home before christmas. thanks for the info nabeerain, it's great that more people are speaking out.

    27. Thank you for posting, NabeeRain.

I wouldn't mind the delay, as long as she kept in touch with me. But I have heard nothing since December 1 when she let me and other customers know that she changed her email.

The last time I comissioned her there was a delay, but she did keep me updated.

    28. *nods* The last time I spoke with her was just after Thanksgiving, and my understanding was that my heads were finished and she was waiting for her computer to be fixed so that she could send me photos.

I got a group e-mail on December 1 informing me of her change of e-mail address, but haven't gotten any responses from that address or the others that I have for her. And her phone has been disconnected for at least three weeks.

I'm worried about Bev personally, and I very much hope she's okay -- she's my friend and I care about her.

I hope that she's able to get in touch with the people who are waiting on commissions, because no communication breeds a lot of anger and anxiety . . . while I understand the difficulty of contacting people long-distance if you have limited funds or phone/computer access, there has to be *some* way of getting in touch.

I'll be sure to ask about everyone's heads if I hear from her, and I will pass on any information if she contacts me.

      *worried*

      -- A :(

    29. Hrm. I didn't get any emails... I wonder if my email system ate it. If it's not an email my system recognizes, it kicks it out. (I just had to fish my rental car confirmation out of my spam bin.)

The last I heard from her was on the first as well.

    30. nods* The last time I spoke with her was just after Thanksgiving, and my understanding was that my heads were finished and she was waiting for her computer to be fixed so that she could send me photos.

I had the same respone from her, she said she would send my head out the monday after thanksgiving. Last contact i had from her was last Tuesday, here's the email:

"I'm really glad you like her^^. I'll be able to send the confirmation number when I get back from Buffalo late this evening. Thanks! "

I'm going to send a physical letter to the address i sent my head to, see if that gets any type of response.

    31. I hope this is okay to post here, as I am having a delay in getting a doll I bought off Ebay from her on Dec. 5. Her Ebay auction lists Cedar Bluff, VA as her location but in a reply I had from her on 12/11--she said she was in Cleveland. Apparently she sent out my doll via Priority Mail as her auction listed, but it came back as undeliverable. She said she may have transposed the numbers and that she would reship in the morning. That was 8 days ago and still no package from her (and I am only a hour drive from Cleveland).

I must say I was beginning to worry, but it looks as if she is just really bad as sticking to schedules and responding to email. At least that is what I am thinking after reading this thread. I have since emailed her on 12/15 and 12/18 and gotten no response. I sent another email this evening thru Ebay and asked her to contact me as soon as possible, or I may have to look into filing a report with Ebay & Paypal. I honestly don't mind waiting as long as she keeps me posted. When you get no response, you start to wonder.

If anyone wants to contact me at [email protected], I can let you know the email I have for her. Whether it will get you a response or not, who knows. Let's hope Bev is okay and nothing bad has happened to her. Maybe she is just swamped with too many things to keep up with.

    32. If anyone wants to write something to bev, and send it to me to print out, i would be happy to. I'm going to send a letter tomorrow with signature confirmation to see if she's actually there and ok. The post office said it had to be more than 3/4 inch thick, mine wasn't. ^^ So, if you want to send a message to bev, pm it to me, i will print it out for you, and put it along in the package. By no means is it threatening or anything, i just said everyone on doa is worried about you and asking about the status of our dolls and such, i even included a nice Christmas card.

Edit: If you can't pm that well, here are my email addy's:
      [email protected]
      [email protected]
      ^^

    33. T_T I'm reeeeally sorry to hear this is happening to you Nicky...I really hope you get your doll back as soon as possible! I'll be checking in to hear more.

Best wishes, and if you ever need to talk, let me know! <3

    34. Thank you, Sam. It's a unfortunate situation. I sincerely hope that Bev is ok, but at the same time, I am anxious to get this behind me.

PrincessAI436, I might take you up on that offer. I'll email you shortly.

vicki_j, I'm sorry to hear about the delay. I hope you will get your doll home soon.

Andi, thank you for posting about your story, too. I'm praying all is well and that our heads/dolls will be sent out soon...

    35. I posted this on other thread:

Bev, also has two of my heads but I last spoke with her on Dec 14.
She has a new job and she has been trying to finish these "last commissions"

I know people here feel she has a job to do for us too, but since I do have a very demanding job myself with little time during my 40+ work week I can understand.

    36. I hope Bev is ok too.

On a different note, she told me my package came back as undeliverable too. So she would need to resend it. It really sounds like an excuse to me. I did get my doll, but not when she said I would. Hopefully she just is having a hard time catching up. I hope everything works out.

    37. Okay, story time:

I commissioned Bev earlier this year. During that time she had some nasty personal problems, and was apparently moving around alot. As such, communication was sporadic to nonexistant--and I was told several times my head would be ready by the end of that week, only to receive no head and no word on delays. Pretty much the same thing that's happening here.

I received my head after three months, as opposed to the original turn-around time of two weeks.

Now, I did talk all this over with Bev, and she apologized and explained her problems(Personal problems, living situation, lack of internet, ect.) rashionally and politely. To see this happening again worries me.

I'm sure you all will get your heads back eventually, but judging from the rest of this thread, something's definately up. I hope she's okay, and I hate to butt in and mention an extreme--but the fastest way to get her to emerge may be to file a Paypal claim for the price of the face-up if your heads don't show up soon. If anything, it may be a way to get her attention and have her respond to your e-mails/PMs.

    38. The only thing I can add to this:
I specifically asked Bev if her roommate had wireless at the house they were living at, and Bev said yes. So it seems to me she could easily just borrow her roommate's computer for a few seconds and contact these people.

Otherwise, we have free library internet computers here in this county, no appointments needed. Just walk in and you can use the webmail to email, send PM's off DOA, update your Live Journal... it's a piece of cake.

I'm also sure anyone who is really desperate would accept a collect call from her. All she needs to do is pick up a phone.

Sadly, reading these posts here, this seems to have been going on a long time. The same things happened here at my shop. When people called me and begged me to ask Bev for their heads, Bev promised me that they had been mailed. Right to my face, looking me in the eye. Then the owners emailed me when the heads arrived, and it turned out they'd been mailed a couple weeks later according to the postmarks. I really felt sad, because when Bev told me they'd been mailed, I told the owners that they had gone out. It's my policy not to BS my customers, so I did feel like I had been used to give out misinformation.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you guys. I also feel really crappy that some people might have signed up for her work, thinking she was here. Please try to take a deep breath and not let this ruin your holidays.

      Catrina

    39. Thanks Catrina for the info, it seems that she's making excuses for personal problems. I have my own share of personal and health problems, but I am still able to get in contact with people. I have sent a letter to her priority mail along with two other people's letters today. Even my parents are going like, why isn't your head back and such. Unfortunately, my holiday will probably be saddened since Athena wont be here. :(

    40. Thank you, cachick for the update on Bev. It's good she found a job. Hopefully she will find time in her new busy schedule to update the people that are anxiously awaiting word on their dolls. (And that isn't meant to sound passive-aggressive; I really do mean it sincerely.)

Thanks again, NabeeRain. I'm so sorry to hear about that unfortunate situation. And yes, I hope she catches up, too.

nolimenoscurvy, I appreciate you stepping forward to share your story with all of us.

Catrina, thank you for your continued support in all this.

PrincessAI436, thanks again for letting me include my letter with yours. I hope we will get results sending communication the old-fashioned way.

    41. Bev's Marketplace privileges have been suspended until she returns the heads that her clients are waiting for. Please post in this thread when they are received, so that we can keep track . . .

I hope that the paper letter gets through to Bev that her customers are serious about needing to hear from her. Just a few words of reassurance would mean a lot.

I hope that she's well and that everything is okay, but this type of radio silence is not acceptable for a commissioned artist who customers have trusted with their heads.

      -- Andi :(

    42. Yes, it's a shame, hopefully she can get her life together and do better in the future. Were all just hoping to get our heads back. If anyone else wants to send a paper letter, I can't send it priority( my parents are peeved, and gave me the money to send priority) after they saw me crying, yes, crying like a baby because i know athena wont be here for christmas, they gave me whatever i needed to send the letter.

I can send them first class though, so if anyone wants to write a letter, pm me or email me, my emails are on the previous page, free of charge, but if you want priority and want to chip in with others, than that is fine. Oh, i put a delivery confirmation on that package too, couldn't afford signature with 5 bucks. The guy said it should be there saturday the latest. now, if she doesn't respond by next friday, we'll send another slew of letters, but with signature confirmation this time, i'll have money then.

I just sent an email to everyone on Bev's list basically saying the same thing in case they don't see it here. ^^

    43. Okay, I am starting to get mad. I contacted Ebay to get Bev's contact info and all they give you is a phone number and the city & state. No street address. I tried that phone number and get "We're sorry, your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please check the number and try again." So that was no help at all. If I had gotten a street address, I could have drove up there or maybe had my husband drive me. I do not intend to let her keep my $360 and not send the doll that I purchased off Ebay on 12/05.

So, do I file with Ebay or Paypal? Anyone have any experience with this? Ebay says you can't have a claim with them at the same time as filing with Paypal. What do I do?

    44. hun, i emailed you with her address, check your email. ^^ I'm not sure which to file with, i think a drive up there to see for all of us what's going on would be great, make sure to bring your husband too.

    45. Bev's phone is disconnected -- it's one of the reasons why people are worried about her :/

I don't have any advice about which service to file a claim through, though -- maybe someone with more claim-filing experience can help you, I don't know which way would be quicker. I'd suggest eBay off the top of my head, but other people might have more advice. I do think that you should file a claim -- it might get her attention.

      -- A <3

    46. nikittin has already filed a paypal claim against her a couple of days ago.

    47. I say file ebay because that is where the transaction took place. Plus, ebay and Pay Pal are the same company so you have the same resources behind you.

    48. Isn't it an account-banning offense not to have an up-to-date phone number attached to your eBay profile?

    49. I had an issue w/vanillashine over the summer. I sent her two of my heads for faceups. I confirmed her address with her PRIOR to sending them out. I sent them via FedEx and waited. And waited and waited and waited.

A month later the heads were returned to me as "undeliverable". When I asked her what had happened she said she had moved. I was irate. We aren't talking about little 1/6 dollfie heads here. I sent her approximately $650 worth of heads. And they SAT, for a MONTH, in a FedEx warehouse because she couldn't keep her act together and give me the CORRECT information.

I'm happy they never did make it to her. Not after hearing about all this drama. I understand personal problems, but let's be realistic here. She's been LYING to people for months now. She won't reply to them (and let's not get on about the computer virus. You and I know fully well that you can get to a cyber cafe and check stuff like den of angels for PMs and gmail, as well as ebay and paypal) and hasn't sent anyone's heads out. I can appreciate everyone wanting to wish her well, but this isn't some new kind of behavior for her. She's been doing this for months and I think it needs to come to an end.

If she can't do commissions, she shouldn't take them. She should get her act together first, settle down somewhere and THEN, if she has time, should take commissions. She won't get any sympathy out of me, not when she has hundreds of dollars worth of peoples property.

    50. Ok, I have a little story too. I commissioned Bev back in late Jan, paid the fee, had the head sent. It was never painted. Finally in early July, I asked for it back, and went thru 12 kinds of hell. I had to post negative feedback on another forum to get my commission fee refunded. I'm still dealing with the fallout from that. The one head I did get painted by her was 6 weeks or more coming home *after* being finished. I was overcharged for postage, she did not insure the box as I asked and paid for, and the head was very poorly packaged. I'm sorry I didn't talk about this sooner, but I dealt with so much negativity elsewhere that I was afraid to speak up. I hope everyone gets their heads/dolls back, and in good condition.

    51. If you are not involved in a current transaction with Vanillashine, please do not post in this thread. All commentary from members who are not involved in a transaction with her will be deleted.

      Thank you!

    52. Last I heard from her was the 10th. She said she would be sending me pics that night or the following day, but I didn't hear from her. I sent her an email around the 15th but it hasn't been answered. Hmmm....it's too late for me to file any claim though as it has been over a month since I sent her my Hewitt.

    53. It's too late for me too, just checked. This is disgusting, i wish people spoke up sooner. Please, anyone else who had a bad transaction with her, post here. We all just want our heads back! :(

    54. You might want to try doing a reverse phone search in the white pages. I've done that before for bill collecting at work. All you need is the phone number. You can also look up addresses by last name and the city/state.

    55. It's a cell phone -- it's the correct number, it's just disconnected.

      -- A :/

    56. (I actually do not have a telephone. Call me avant garde, but I see no reason to pay for telemarketers to call me. I wonder if eBay knows that.)

Anyway, just to get a headcount rolling, we perhaps ought to list the heads involved in this current run:

      Dollfie Dream OP-01
      Obitsu Gretel

Paid 11.9.06, heads delivered by UPS on 11.15.06

    57. 1. Supia
      2. Volks Liz

Anyone who lives near by want to help us? :sweat

    58. Alright, Paid on November 10, She arrived at Bev's house on the 16th, shipped via priority mail.

She has, and needs to freakin ship: Athena

      -DoC Twingkey head
      -Her Hands
      -Her feet

      :(

    59. I think vicki might go up there, she said she's only an hour away. I would love her forever, if she could "escourt" Bev to the post office.
