Resolved Paging user softtnite

May 28, 2019

    1. Hello. I am extremely hesitant to do this-- I hate issues like this-- but, a mod advised I open a paging thread in order to solve this issue that I’m having with user softtnite.

12MAY: I contact softtnite with an offer for her eun-a, stating clearly that my offer is for x-amount shipped and that I am not sure if my offer is acceptable. I mentioned, also, that I can pay immediately and note that we are in the same state in hopes that’ll help lessen the shipping cost. I am asked to bring the price up a little higher, but I had just made a major purchase and am saving for an international trip. I could not do so at that time. I suggested softtnite wait for another buyer if that is what she deemed suitable. Softtnite accepts my offer, and I send payment in full.

There is some confusion on her part about my offer, but I clarify. Still, she accepts my offer. I let her know that I am not home but that my mother will be receiving the package for me-- as she’s been doing since I have been gone. This has never been an issue with any seller I've dealt with.

Softtnite says, “Since you aren’t there anyway, I may not ship until Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.” I mention that this is fine.

14MAY: Softtnite tells me that she cannot ship due to a family emergency. She gives me a new date of Friday to ship. I send my condolences.

17MAY: No word, and I ask if shipping on Friday was possible.

18MAY: Softtnite tells me that there had been no time to package the doll and send her.

20MAY: I mention that printing a label off at home and having USPS pick the item up (this is free with priority) is an option for those unable to make a trip to the post office. Shipping would have cost about $17 for a 15-lb box (I checked) and around $20 with insurance.

22MAY: Softtnite refunds my full payment back (as of right now, this has yet to be cleared with paypal and my bank) without, first, discussing anything with me. She states that she hadn’t realized my offer would not include shipping and tells me that she had gone to ship the doll but changed her mind. Feeling bad, that same day, I offered $25-- which is more than needed-- to cover shipping. She told me it would cost at least $30, and I, instead, offered an additional $35 with the reassurance that I will adore the doll. She accepts this and says she won’t “dilly-dally” with shipping this time, and I send full payment once more.

23MAY: I request she message me when she sends my eun-a.

24MAY: Softtnite shows me a screenshot of the shipping label with a cost of $21. I ask if she will be intending on refunding the difference between shipping cost.

27MAY: No word from Softtnite, and I mention that I understand holiday weekends get busy and that she had a family emergency. I would have liked for this doll to have been shipped by 28MAY.

28MAY: As of right now, I have still not heard from her.

At this point, my resolution would be just to please get the doll. I don’t want issues between me and softtnite, and I don’t want my money back. If this can happen, I will be satisfied.

      Thank you.

    4. Yes, thank you.

I have yet to hear from her. I am hoping my doll is shipped today, as I'm assuming she has noticed that she's been paged. If the label is printed, all she needs to do is drop the box off at the counter.

I will keep this thread updated with any new information.

    5. Is what softtnite has messaged me with today. If that happens, I'll update the thread.

    6. It looks like the box was finally dropped off yesterday. Tracking has updated.

If possible, I'd like for this thread to please remain open until I get home in a few days-- so that I may check the doll over myself and ensure she had been packaged well.

    7. I am still currently away from my home state, and I don't want to burden my mother with the task of checking the doll over to make sure that she's wrapped well. She's not a doll person, and I feel as though that is a lot to ask. That will have to be done when I go to pick up my mail from her residence in a few days. However, I am a little concerned with how my doll is packaged.

The following photo is from my mother:

When I have picked up my mail, I'll look the contents of the box over and update this thread on the status of the doll.

    8. I want to add in here that I had been trying to work with softtnite in order to get a partial refund for shipping. I sent $35, and shipping cost roughly $22. I am asking for the difference of $13. We live in the same state, and shipping wasn't expensive for a full doll, unstrung.

Not only had softtnite sent the payment incorrectly-- she sent as a payment, thusly, requiring me to both eat fees and ship an item-- she had called me "petty" for refunding her payment and requesting she send it correctly. PayPal would be prompting me to ship an item that I never sold if I were to keep the money softtnite sent as a partial refund for shipping. That is primarily why I refunded it.

I have turned, instead, to PayPal in hopes that they can better solve this issue. I do not have faith that softtnite can act in my favour-- nor do I have faith that I can communicate with someone who is responding without a level-head on the other end. I felt compelled to request softtnite calm down and re-send the payment in a way that will keep me from having to ship an item after she twice told me to leave her alone-- which wouldn't solve this issue and which doesn't make sense while in the middle of a transaction. I have not messaged her excessively nor made any strenuous demands that require for one to do anything but what an honest seller should do.

I am still aiming to pick up my mail from my mother's home Tuesday, so here's to hoping I won't have to contact this seller if something is wrong with the doll tomorrow.

      Thank you.

    9. Right in my post above, I meant "strung," but that doesn't change the fact that shipping only cost $22 and that softtnite still owes me $13.

I picked up my mail from my mother's house yesterday and got to open my eun-a. Right away, I gently shook her box a little and heard moving parts. I wasn't sure if something had broken or if she was hitting the box. Either way, hearing the resin pieces of a doll slam against a box means the seller hadn't packaged correctly. Whatever I had suspected was more or less correct, as there wasn't a shred of bubble wrap in this box. Pictured above is the frankenstein method that softtnite had used. Directly after I pulled away those pieces was the elfdoll box. Inside of the elfdoll box, the doll was packaged exactly as so:

I am honestly surprised that the doll was left undamaged. Again, there wasn't a single piece of bubble wrap in this box. She looked just as you see her here.

There are scuffs on her faceup and on her body. Though there are no broken pieces, I am shocked that she is unbroken, and I am thankful that I have the supplies needed to do my own faceups and to clean dolls-- or else I'd be out of luck here.

I will be leaving softtnite appropriate feedback for this transaction, but I'd also like for those to know that I still haven't heard from her since the night I had to tell her to calm down (after she twice told me to leave her alone). I also haven't received a partial refund for shipping. I will likely have to work with PayPal for that.

      Thank you.

    10. I haven’t commented on this thread, because I just don’t understand all the drama.

I should have realized that her offer meant that shipping would be included, but I didn’t. That was my error, but she knew that I didn’t understand that.

I asked a mod for advice on refunding her money because I didn’t want to be banned from the marketplace, and was told the worse that would happen was neutral feedback. So I refunded her money.

Then she sent me a really nice message telling me how she’d always wanted a Eun-a and ended her message with ‘please.’

I took too long shipping because there was a sudden death by drowning in the family and then I was sick. Eun-a got to the mother’s house well before SugarCoatedStars got back into the state.

The box wasn’t pretty, but it did the job. I didn’t have bubble wrap so I made sure that the doll was pushed all the way to the bottom of the foam and I secured the faceup. I’ve never sent a doll without bubble wrap before and shouldn’t have done it this time. But the doll arrived looking fine.

I finally told her to leave me alone because her VERBOSE messages were endless. I’m not going to detail the refund of shipping charges because I didn’t know I’d sent the refund wrong, and she hadn’t told me that she’d refunded my refund.

Toward the end I had sent her the shipping refund and just wanted this to end. I asked her to leave me alone and she responded by telling me to calm down.

Anyway, she has the doll and she has her shipping refund. This was an unfortunate transaction and I’m glad it’s over.

    11. I apologize to SugarCoatedStars for any stress I caused. That was never my intention. I wish her the best.

    12. I'm not going to argue here, but I would like to point some things out:

If you don't want drama, I suggest being fair to your buyers. I don't know if I am able to mention this here-- forgive me if I can't-- but a handful of your other buyers have told me that this isn't the first time issues extremely similar to mine have happened, with late shipping and with excuses and with damaged products.

I clarified what my offer was, actually, and you still took-- and sat on-- my money. Ignorance is no excuse here.

I was very polite with most of my responses, using "please" and "thank you." And, I did want eun-a... hence why I purchased her.

Sellers should ship regardless if someone is home or not-- unless someone requests for that specifically not to happen, because money is being sent for a product, and the seller's task is to deliver that product in a timely manner. Not once did I request for you to hold onto my doll; therefore, it should have quickly been shipped to the address provided in Paypal. My mother was at her home to receive my package.

The doll was hardly secure. She was scuffed. If she'd made a longer journey, I really believe she'd be broken. She was rattling around. Thankfully, she only traveled within the same state.

Again, softtnite, I did not ask you to do anything you weren't supposed to do-- nor were my messages any longer than yours. Had the money been sent the first time, we wouldn't be here.

      The refund is pending.

      Thanks for apologizing.

    13. Now that the transaction is finished, will you please report that the issue has been resolved?

      Thanks.

    14. Yes, it looks like the refund was finally received and acknowledged by my bank. This all took quite some time, but I consider this matter to be finished. Thank you
