I really didn't want to have to do this, however I don't see another option.

March 21st I approached loveatlastsight about buying her Soom Beryl.

March 25th she responded.

March 25th-29th we discussed what extras would be included with the doll, shipping, and negotiation about the price.

March 29th I paid.

She shipped end of March; I received her April 3rd and discovered, contrary to what her ad stated, her COA was not included, and she was not White Skin.I Pm'ed loveatlastsight to tell her of this.

April 6th she said she was out of town, she thought she had included it, and when she got home she would look for it.

April 7th, I responded.

April 20th she said she had a bad cold, and when she recovered she would look for it.

April 30th I PM'ed her to ask if she had any luck finding it.

May 1st, I PM'ed her again as I hadn't heard from her.

May 2nd, she said she couldn't find it, might have left it at the Post Office, and that maybe we could write to Soom for a new one. Plus, she was on vacation.

May 5th, I suggested I contact Soom.

May 6th, she gave me her username. So I contacted Soom. Multiple times. In which they said that as I wasn't the original owner, they couldn't do anything for me. Also, that they had no record of a user by the name she gave me.

May 10th, I informed her of this.

May 10th/11th she responded, telling me that she didn't know what to tell me, she was sorry, she wasn't actually on vacation, her mother was sick, she didn't have the time to look for the COA right now, she didn't need the COA as she knew the doll was legitimate, and that if I was really so unhappy I could return the doll to her in the condition I received it. If I didn't want to return it, give her until the end of June and she would try to find the COA. She'd let me know.

May 11th I told her fine, I'd wait until the end of June, as I did like the doll. However, if there were problems, Paypal had assured me I had until September to contest the charge.

And that is where we are now. As I have always planned on keeping the doll, I contacted a faceup artist about giving her a new faceup. However, as Beryl is a Soom, the artist in question will not touch her without proof that she isn't a recast. Proof like a COA with a number that will correlate with a Beryl Love Me or Die (which is apparently what she is).

I was very sorry to hear of her mother's illness; it's horrible having problems, something that myself (and probably everyone else on this site) can relate to. However, I have been more that patient about this. What I would like is the COA.

1) You mentioned that there were extras, just ask. So may I ask what are they?
2) You say you're negotiable on the price; how negotiable are we talking? Be fair to each other is good, I don't want to be insulting.

Sorry for my slow response--I was away at an art fair.

Beryl is still available. To respond to your questions:
1) I have lots of beautful and new Leeke and Volks wig that I am happy to give away. I am also happy to include extra items, such as a set of brand new SD16 girl clothing, maybe a Sadol dress set. I have lots of pretty rare items so that's why I listed her as "just ask." I sort of imagine my buyer will want something I just happen to have…*wishful thinking*

2) As for as price is concerned, I am happy to offer her at 700$, which includes shipping.

Thanks for the note. The extras I referred to are a few addditional gifts that are randomly (or not so randomly?) selected that come with the doll. They do not impose any additional cost to the original price. I am looking through things that I think will fit and I can part. You are not under any obligation to take them.

Great! Insurance would be terrific (was going to ask you about it and I completely forgot ). It's not you, my mailman gets a little more cautious about delivering boxes if they're insured. So looking at usps.com, insurance would be about $12 if it was insured for $700, so $712 should cover it?

Does not really matter, however, thanks for the asking. is fine as that is Mom. Or you could use, same address. The Beryl is my belated birthday present from Mom and I had been given carte blanche to buy what I wanted and use her PP account. We both collect BJDs and she knows that I have been looking for a white human Beryl for sometime. Yours looks perfect. Thanks!

Hi,

Contacted Soom. They say without an order number or a CoA number, they can't talk to me about the CoA. You were right also, they have no record of your username. So unfortunately, you either need to find the CoA, or be the one to contact Soom about it. Hope to hear from you.

Hi,

I am very sorry for the problems occurred. Thanks very much for letting me know. Right now I have to be very honest with you--I am not "vacationing overseas" but taking care of my mother who suffered from a few falls, undergoing surgery, and also in charge of moving her. I am not really capable of dealing with the search for COA in US until late May or early June because I will be flying back and forth, in addition to the work I have to do in my reduced capacity role. I also need to sell a significant portion of my doll collections to help take care of my mom's medical needs.

So I would like to ask you either be very patient with me while I sort this out, or I am happy to accept a return for the doll in her original condition, if that makes you happy. It's difficult to assign a value for the CoA (for someone like me may care less about it knowing that she's authentic), but I know you do want it, and it is part of your birthday present.

I have just read your box-opening and it's extremely touching to read how much you adore Beryl despite the issues. I do wish to apologise again for the skin color issues, and of course, for the missing CoA. As Beryl is the only Soom that I have without fantasy color, and she's so pale that I assumed she's white skin. Yet right now my hands are very tied, because I don't always have internet access, and that I don't even have my Soom login info or my old email right now. I have ordered over 10 MD dolls from them, but that's a long time ago and I am no longer an active participant of the doll communities, so I need a significant amount of time to search and research. I am hoping that as my house clean up and doll sale go along I will be able to find out or give you a satisfying answer. But if a return is what you wish, I will happily oblige.

Please kindly let me know what you want to do.

I am just concerned because right now I don't have too much time and if I prolong this search, it will cause you unnecessary agony. I am very happy to search, but I need time. I also never had a doll returning situation, but I am willing to work with you to resolve this situation.

I would rather not return the doll for two reasons; you with the situation in your life right now probably don't need to have a $700+ loss, and I do like the doll. I want the CoA (it was mentioned as being included in the ad. It is one of the main reasons I bought your doll). Also I understand having difficulties in your life (I'm going through a few things with family members myself), but look for it please. I understand it will not immediately, however I would like to be in a reasonable timeframe. This is the first time I have had a problem when buying a doll so I would like to resolve this amicably without having to involve Paypal.

Okay, it's now the first week of July. I think I've been patient and understanding for long enough. I want one of three things, in order of preference:

1: The COA to the Beryl, which I can confirm with Soom.
2: An email from Soom verifying that you did indeed buy a Beryl from them
3: You to just admit you weren't exactly truthful from beginning to end in your sale thread.

I need a response by Friday so I can figure out where I'm going to go from here.

I would like to offer July31 a complete refund because I honestly cannot find the CoA. This offer has always been on the table, but I understand she likes the doll and does not want to pursue it.

In my original listing, I made two mistakes: 1) I put that I have the paperwork because I have a vague memory of seeing a CoA, yet I am very disorganised during this period of time, and until now I cannot find it. 2) I did not realise when I first posted the item (as I TRULY FORGOT) that I am not the first owner of this Beryl. I looked through my PMs and realised I actually bought her from another member on DoA in January 2011, more than six years ago. I did contact this member to see if she can help us locate the CoA, which will help alleviate the question over provence. This member is a famous artist of her own right, and it speaks to the degree of my disorganization--probably wouldn't have sold Beryl at the first place had I recalled that she had such a desirable face-up! I have a very sizable collection and my memory is fading.

I am very sorry that July31 is very disappointed. I am happy to share the information of the first owner and I am happy to offer her a full refund plus shipping back. But I am doubtful I will find the CoA for this Beryl.

As I said in my PM to loveatlastsight, I have had the doll declared "95% sure to be a legit Beryl" by someone who owns one at a Meetup group I attend. And I guess that is pretty much as good as it is going to get. So I guess this is over, there's no reason to continue paging her.

@CathyM, do I just link this thread into her feedback thread and that's all the feedback there is, do I add feedback to her to this thread and then link it, or do I have a second thread for her feedback?
