Customs Package stuck in US Customs (JFK)

    1. I've been so happy when I realized that my doll was in New York already. But all it says is that it was delivered to JFK. I'm scared because my other packages came to the inward office the same day. It has now been two days and there are no updates. What do you think happened?? :(

    2. My packages used to fly through Chicago (er, no pun intended ;)) too, but I've noticed them taking longer lately. And part of it is just the update system USPS has in place.

      Are you tracking this on Track Trace? Or on USPS?

      I've noticed once the package is delivered to the destination airport, tracking is very slow on Track Trace, but is a little bit faster on the USPS site.

      Don't be too concerned just yet! It may just be a glitch in the updates. I would give it a couple more days, and hopefully by then you will have your doll or an update will be made to let you know where it is. :)

    3. Please allow extra time considering we just had a hurricane go through earlier this week. There are probably some employees out since there are areas still don't have power back, and there may be other delays or problems at the airport itself that we're not aware of. Plus they may have had a heavier than usual influx of packages since flights from last week had been canceled and are no doubt coming through this week along with the "regularly scheduled" packages.

    4. You'll have to be a little bit more patient due to Hurricane Irene and the damages that have caused, and therefore, having delays is not unusual. Also, it still have to go through customs as well..and from the look on the tracking, there may have been some kind of glitch on the last part. Good luck :3!

    5. I had something like that too that said "delivered to melville" and i was like "well thast weird" not to mention when i looked at the details, it said

      "signature was waived upon delivery"

      and i was HORRIRIFED! but, the package did come the next day. So I wouldn't worry, it was probably just a glitch in their system. Be patient, the mail is a little backed up because of Irene. :)

    6. I was part of a recent Soom GO. The order hung around in customs (Chicago) for a couple of days before finishing the journey home. And that was before hurricane Irene. Don't worry about it just yet. :)

    7. Thanks everyone! I know that I should be patient but now that I actually know that he is HERE, I can't help but fidget and be incredibly impatient. :( He is like 10 minute drive away! But I can't get him... >_< I will try to wait patiently without going hysterical.... LOL I'm like stalking the tracking website...

    8. Yeah, he hasn't passed through customs yet, you may not get a decent update on Track-Trace, so you'll want to keep an eye out on the USPS site. I'd say it's probably backup related to the hurricane, they are probably not working at full strength and giving priority to packages/planes that were delayed by the storm, which means it may be a few days. I totally understand your frustration, I am extremely confident a Leeke girl I've been waiting for is going to not get her until Tuesday now, as she entered customs in San Fran a little too late today for me to be confident about her chances of getting through in time. :( But fingers crossed, you may also not see anything until your darling shows up on your door, but the next thing I would expect to see is the Inbound Into Customs line.

    9. heidipay Aw man, and I was hoping to get him before school starts. I'm literally grinding my teeth with frustration (I'm not very patient even if I try to be...) Plus, now that I think about it, my other packages were light. His body is going to be heavier than those. Urg, it'll definitely be caught up in customs.

    10. I'm guessing this is your Luts order that you are waiting on? (I updated my order status to shipping the same day you did in the waiting room.) I am glad you made this thread, as I had been a little worried about my order as well...but I knew with Luts delaying shipping a day or so and with the hurricane that there would be an extra wait. Hopefully we won't have to wait a week or two, but I also understand the reason for the delay and I am sympathetic towards the people who have had trouble due to the hurricane. Since you're just ten minutes away, it kinda sucks that you can't just go and ask for it, but...

      Anyway, cheers to getting our packages *hopefully* in the next few days! [​IMG]

    11. I also realized something, I think that they are more cautious than usual because it is close to 9/11 and all that jazz. And YES! Please! I'm SERIOUSLY hoping for our packages to come soon ^^

    12. I'm so sorry! :sweat We're all in the same boat, just on different coasts...and I have honestly had a couple of packages not update post-plane landing that ended up on my doorstep. It's rare, but it does happen occasionally! :)

    14. You will usually see an item go into customs shortly after the arrival at the airport. So you can imagine the packages are unloaded and taken to the part of the airport where customs is, and processed in due order. I've had things go from landing at the airport to being through customs in under an hour in the past (aka the good old days), but lately, for my main customs entry-point of San Fran, it's been taking a solid day getting through, though I am usually still into customs pretty darn quick.

    16. Ok, so he's still not in customs, I'm kind of worried, even though there are delays shouldn't he at least be in customs by now? What do you guys think is holding him up? (Sorry for all the questions, just worried like crazy)

    17. I think he is in customs, and the tracking just hasn't been updated.

      If you are really worried, you could always call the post office and talk to them. They may be able to verify that he has, in fact, arrived into customs.

    18. I just checked the tracking on my package to see if there were any updates, and USPS has updated the tracking to say that she is "Inbound into Customs." I would check to see if yours is also headed into customs.

    21. I had one come in from Russia that was held 12 days before it got to me. Hit Customs Aug 17, I got it last Monday or Tuesday. Don;t know if the hurricane is causing problems now, since it sure wasn't when mine hit customs!

    24. There have been slowdowns at customs before, typically they do happen closer to the holiday season. I got my girl on Saturday...you are making West Coast customs look good. I hope for everyone to get their packages soon!

    25. Yay! He just cleared customs! XD Super happy right now, I can't even sleep. ^^' I thought he would take longer. Tommorow will be dedicated to stalking my window. And btw it is 3:38 right now in NY
