20–39cm Dolls Otherside Oddity - little monkey/kobold

Feb 9, 2016

    1. After more than a year of sculpting this is my little Oddity.

He's 25 - 27 cm tall, quite chubby, ugly and wrinkled, short legged, I just love him !

    2. He's adorable. It's the whiskers;)

That resin looks lovely. Is he home or factory cast?

    3. Ah it's my cat's whiskers, but I don't find it anymore on the ground and of course I would never cut them on my cat so Oddity will wait a little bit before he has them all. ^_°

It is home cast, I have had many resin problems with the first parts I cast (head/headback/ears/body).
I now use a different silicon for my mold and realize that the one I used for years was really bad and create to much bubbles and deformations...
Better now than ever, but with new molds the legs and arms were cast almost withtout any bubbles and the resin seems more soft to the touch.

So I'd say : the first parts were heavily made up and thanks to that the resin seems OK, but the last parts are really nice !

    4. Hehe - when I had cats, I used to collect any whiskers they dropped. I think your method for recycling what your kitty no longer uses is really cool.

I hope you don't mind me asking but which silicone are you using now? I've only ever used Allumilite products, so it's interesting to see what other people recommend. This little monkey looks fantastic.

    5. No problem, I'm currently using a french silicon from the Artificina store (Esprit Composite).

    7. These are amazing! A year to make this is definitely as labor of love, and it shows. Thanks for sharing this gem. :) May I ask what resin you are using?

    8. Thanks, I use french resin from Artificina/Esprit composite website. The most common resin for french and belgian people I guess.
I tried others, but I didn't like them.
