40–49cm Dolls Orion Gem of Doll Fox (Rigel)

So when I ordered this guy, I didn't actually own any resin bjds. The fullset was not available, and I had never done a face up, so I decided to go slightly unique and get the non-official color of mousse white, thinking it looked pretty darned close to the official snow white color, and would take the factory face up fine (it is and it does). While waiting, I found the fullset and purchased it (because I kept trying to figure out clothes that might fit this guy, and fell in love with the fullset outfit) and decided to sell this one as soon as I could- since I did not have the space for two identical sculpts. But I really like this sculpt and face up, with the melodramatic realism, and now I had a chance to both enjoy the beautiful fullset and see what it would be like to customize it, without worrying about ruining the original. So I decided to try the customization game.

Inside it seems smaller? Less room for Rigel and his ears (which he isn't wearing yet)

Same as fullset eyes! But put in with less care, very wall-eyed look here. Also the eyes have more pink painted on the bottom, gives him a very red-eye disease look when viewed from certain angles.


Full body blushing, looks good, better I think than the fullset, as the pink doesn't stand out as much. I was honestly only interested in getting the feet and hands blushed, the pink looks weird.


A later photo, with better eyes. I really love the fullset, but I also really love this look? The brown eyes look so natural. He just needs proper clothes and not cloth squares. Also I got rid of all the pink around his lower eyes in the face up and replaced it with black. I think it looks so much better (cured his pink-eye too)!

 

Yes it was quite a disappointment to unbox, funnier in retrospect now that it's fixed.

Thank you! With these improvements, I am actually liking this head better than the fullset. Will probably add the bottom black eye-liner to the fullset too. It was a little tricky not to overdo it but worth it I think. I'm beginning to wish I had a shot of his earlier red-eye look, it was pretty bad, very comically diseased. I think it was supposed to add realism but it failed.
