    3. Oh wow she looks fantastic! :o I LOVE her legs :D very shapely! *grin*!

Awee, looks like her poor arms got a little burnt in the oven! o_o that's okay though, you said you're casting her so it doesn't matter. ^__^

      Keep at it! :daisy

    4. WOW! She looks amazing! I really cant wait when you cast her in resin, and to see her head and her body together. :D

    7. Wow, beautiful!!!

    8. *_* That head is luminous! She's pretty, but kind of spooky in that picture *_* I love your work, Nita. Ever since you showed us the picture of the fairy woman I've been waiting for you to roll out a beauty of a doll  I wonder what M. Razdat would think  Your work has the same organic quality. So the joints were giving you a hard time? I keep on tossing the arms and legs on mine :( I just want the joints to move perfectly! Is that too much to ask? I can't wait to see yours finished :daisy :daisy

    9. Thanks Selina and fairysquisher.
She does look spooky with her eyes cut wider.I was playing around with her today making her look startled and side to side glances ..she looked like she was walking through the woods at night and hearing noises  I also tried a black mohair wig on her. With that white resin she looks very goth. The resin is not the final resin I will use,but it does have a nice semi translucent look.
Radzat has seen her actually! I cant remember what she said. Love Marilyns work though.Thats quite a compliment to be compared!
Yah the joints bothered me so much that I finally broke down and bought wooden balls to replace them.
Sorry to keep ya waiting so long. Im still saving toward getting all the tools and supplies I need.

      Nita

    17. Wow she's lovely! I hadn't found this thread before, but I've started experimenting with sculpting a BJD as well and your work is very inspirational. :)

Can't wait to see how she turns out, I'd love to have one!

    18. Hi Nita,

I just saw this thread today for the first time, and when I saw your beautiful face sculpt and your request for feedback, I just had to jump in!

Her features are stunning; I love her mouth, which reminds me a little of Ryung... you did a great job on the nose, which is tough.

Also, her body is great. You really met the challenge of merging correct anatomy with the appealing bjd look.

My one comment is on the shape of her cranium. I think it could be a bit larger. (It could just be the angle of your photo, though.) Rather than using words, I photoshopped your pics to show you what I mean about a slightly larger & reshaped cranium maybe working a bit better:

I hope I'm not being obnoxious in submitting this--I mean it in the spirit of the most constructiv-ist criticism! Good luck with your gorgeous girl.

    19. Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to point that out Divi.Your right about her temple /cranium being narrow. I tend to do that often as I hold the head in my hands while I work. I think a wig will cover it well though. Its a lil late in the process to go back and fix.
Ive been really busy and not keeping up with updates but, Ive made most of the molds and have torso parts cast. Im sanding them now to recast for the master mold.

      Nita

    20. that is such a beatiful doll! :fangirl

how much does casting cost? I've heard its fairly expensive. i can't wait to see it finished, with eyes, hair and some clothes. she'll look even more gorgeous.

    21. http://www.geocities.com/sleetwealth/BJD6.html

This is how far Ive gotten on casting the resin parts.it is alot of hard work!
I am not paying someone to do my molding and casting. Im doing it myself, but Ive heard you can expect something around 700-1,000 this is for silicone molds not plaster molds. It depends on how big and how many parts you have. The casting costs alot less than the moldmaking.

      Nita

    22. WOOT!!!

hey Nita, she is so very gorgeous.... ok, got to get some more money together... can't wait to see her all done.

I know you have a lot of things going on at once, but how long did it take you to get decent molds? Had you done molds for the porcelains before, or learn fresh for this?

It looks like you are molding the balls as part of the joint?

      awesome....

      patl

    23. Nita,
I notice you don't have any air bubbles. Did you use a vacuum chamber when casting? I am working on a BJD I am planning to mold and cast. I hope you don't mind me asking what silicon and resin you are using. She looks really awesome by the way.

      Michelle

    24. Hi Pat*waves*
The molding process was pretty intuitive for me. Even though I never made a plaster type mold I used to pour those reproduction porcelain dolls..so , I sorta understood where the parting lines needed to be and about undercuts.
Im not sure of the time it took. So much has been going on.
I only screwed up one mold though!

      Msteelart,
      Thanks
I used a pressure chamber for casting not a vacuume chamber.
The silicone is Alumilite quickset RTV( it will stain your original yellow)
And the resin is Alumilite super plastic.
