Organizing and Leading a Minimee GO

Aug 13, 2009

    1. Mods, if this thread already exists ( I couldnt find it) please move it there, and I am sorry:sweat

I want to organize a Minimee GO. The only problem is, I havent the vaguest conception of how to do this! *pulling out hair*

Can anybody help me with this? Pereferably in a step by step fashion.

    2. 1) contact Denny from DIM and make sure the character you want to do is available to sculpt.

      2) figure out the prices per head, make sure you cover the PP fees, and shipping. you can have all the heads shipped to you, or i think, you can have the heads shipped directly to each person, would check on that however.

      3) start your GO thread. include all pertinent information such as the cost of heads, how long you will keep the GO open, how do you want the sculpt to look be specific, what type of expression do you want, will it be SD or MSD.... etc...

      4) include as much info about yourself as a GO leader, if you have no experience, you should at least have a positive feedback thread.

      5) post some photos of the character you want to use. you will need to send to DIM, one front full face, one 3/4 profile, and one full profile.

      6) make sure you have the time to devote to running a GO. it can take months sometimes. you should keep up with the forum, and check your GO as much as possible. be available to your participants, and any one who might be interested in joining. make sure you answer all PM's and inquiries promptly.

      7) after you have all the participants, you will have to collect the payments, most likely by paypal, and place the order. you order by picking the minmee event option on the website. this is for 2 heads, then select the minimee extra heads option to make up the remaining amount. if you are doing 10 heads, which is the maximum allowed per order, than you add 8 extra heads. make sure that everyone has selected a skin tone, as you can have NS or WS, and order the heads accordingly.

      8) after placing the order, you need to send the photos, with a description of how you want the sculpt to look, pointing out the most important characteristics.

      9) DIM will confirm the order, and that they have received the photos.

that's basically it. you will wait for the preview photos of the sculpt, and when they come in, decide if you want to cast as is, or make modifications. there is one free modification, and there is a charge for each one after that. if you approve of the sculpt, you will let DIM know, and they will go to casting. this will take about 3-4 weeks to cast.

when the heads are casted they will be shipped to you. you will need to be prepared to ship them immediately. you will need boxes, and packing material. send out shipping payment requests for the appropriate amount to the participants. as soon as they pay, ship the heads.

i can't stress enough the importance of making yourself available throughout the GO, there is nothing more frustrating then an absentee GO leader.

    3. How would I calculate the exact amount (PP fees, shipping)? And how much do mofications usually cost? If I'm sending the money before the head is actually made, then am I charged extra at the end because of modifications? Which is easier, having all the heads shipped to me, or having DIM ship them seperatly to everyone? Can we pick differnt skin tones (ie, 2 people want ws and 8 want ns)?

    4. Chuuie- awesome, thank you for that

Miss Ally- That was SOOOOOOO helpful. I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to type all that out for me. I totaly understand abou beingt attentive and responsible. I've been on the recieving end of such iresponsability and I know how horrible it is.

As it stands, there are nine of us so far and , as yet, nobody has stepped up to actually be the official GO leader. I am willing to do it if none of the other people feel they can do it. I work from home so I always have a computor at my side so would be able to stay on top of things easily. I have very good feedback. Its a bit nerve racking though. Big responsability.

    5. you're welcome..... i just recently ran my first minimee GO, so it i can relate to the fear factor involved. mine went perfectly, without a hitch.

as to your other questions.... i see you found the PP fee calculator.

as to the modification fee yes, you will pay that later, before they do the mod.... it's like buying the modification service, if that makes sense..... you can always email Denny, he is helpful and kind. anything you don't understand, he will be more than happy to help you out.

as to the skin tone, you can choose either NS or WS and can have any combination of each. i had 2 WS and 8 NS in my order. so as to not make it confusing, the initial order that is the 2 heads..... that is the one i placed for the 2 WS. and then all of the extra heads were NS.

finally i guess the decision about where to ship is yours. i just felt more comfortable having them all ship to me.... that way i could inspect all of them, and know for certain that they were in good condition, and did not get lost. i had more control that way. and actually, 2 of the heads had slight flaws, so i kept those, and sent out the good ones. Denny is re-casting those heads for me, and let me keep the flawed ones as well.

good luck.... if you need help after you get going, feel free to give me a holler....:)

    6. Additional to Miss Ally's wonderful help, I looked at the price differences between sending everything out to participants from DiM, and sending them to me and then out to the others, and it was MUCH cheaper to do it the latter way (and turned out to be a good thing, as two of my heads were also miscast and had to be replaced; we were warned ahead in my order that two were bad, so I kept one for myself and sent the other along with the replacement to the participant who volunteered to wait for her good head). That way I was also able to slip some goodies into the boxes, as well.

In the end, on the one I did, it ended up much easier than it seemed like it would be. :D Good luck!

    7. I simply cannot thank you guys enough. Its official, I am the GO leader now. And I must say I am WAAAAY less fearful after having read all of your extremly helpful information. Well, wish me luck I guess :)

    8. I may be losing my eyesight (or possibly my mind) but I can't find the link anywhere on their site. Can someone please post a direct link to the ordering page?

Nevermind, answered my own question: http://dimdoll.com/shop/step1.php?number=215

However, it lists the quantity on that page as 1. If 1 is selected, it still counts for 2 heads, yes? Then I add the extras through the optional head link?

    9. Yep, ordering "1" on that page gets you two heads, since that's the minimum order. The rest go through the "extra head" link. :)

    10. NEED HELP!! :o and fast! I cant find the "extra head" link! can someone please point me in the right direction?
*edits.. nevermind, I found it! :)

    11. Hi guys! Thanks for this. It's really helpful. Just one thing: I can't find the link for the Extra Head. I can only see the link for the Custom Make-up. If anyone can do a little screencap I'll be extremely grateful.

      Edit: Found it.

    12. Oh dear I can't find the link for the Extra head. can someone point me out in the right direction?
