I'm not sure if this is the right place, I'm looking for advice on what steps I can/should take next. Sorry this may be a bit long. This starts back at the end of 2020 after a small hiatus from the hobby and I decided to dip back in and see what was new. Behold Dollzone and their gorgeous cyborg girl who unbeknownst to me is on her final preorder, I fell in love and instantly went to my go-to dealer's website and made an order, paid straight away and got excited about how I'd customise her. I've tried to keep up-to-date with Dollzone's shipments and news of lockdowns and difficulties casting parts so have been extremely patient, knowing my order being at the end of the last preorder would make mine one of the last to ship out. I've asked my dealer quite sparingly for updates, in fact my first enquiry was at the start of this year when I noticed a lot of people receiving theirs after a years wait. I was told soon. I asked again (my second enquiry) a month ago after seeing that the dealer had received a shipment from Dollzone containing said cyborg girl, and that's where this gets complicated. I was told that they've asked Dollzone for an update but at this time don't think my doll will be shipped and quickly asked if I wanted a refund. They then reluctantly seemed to suggest that they could ask Dollzone if they happened to have any "in stock" cyborgs left but it wouldn't match my order. I of course asked if they could ask for the doll as I've waited almost two years now. This is what has me concerned though. Surely if the problem is only that Dollzone "forgot" my order then there shouldn't be a problem making my exact order? What has me most suspicious now is that the post the dealer shared showing their last Dollzone shipment shows a doll that almost exactly matches my order - the only difference is the gender. These posts have now been deleted, but thankfully at the time I saw them I took screenshots as I wanted to show a friend what the dolls looked like (she isn't on social media). I don't know if I'm being super paranoid now but I decided to check up on exactly what I ordered and have just now noticed a mistake on the order form - the body type model number on my order form is different from the model number on Dollzone's site. The number used on my order states its for a female body while the corresponding number on Dollzone's site matches it with a male body - which would match perfectly with the doll that was shown in the post. A doll which I'm very certain might have been sold as an in-stock doll on the dealer's site since it wouldn't have matched any orders, and that would explain why they wanted to push for a refund first. This is my predicament. Where do I go from here? Do I wait to see if the dealer responds with either news of a doll for my order or another suggestion for refunding? Should I try contacting Dollzone myself and explain and hope that they will be able to find out what has happened? I'm trying to stay hopeful that something can be done but I'm just not sure what that might be. I'm so disappointed I've cried a few times, the doll is no longer in production, only the human version exists now and that version just isn't what I paid and waited this long for. I'm sorry this was such a long read, any advice would be extremely welcome.
What dealer are you experiencing this with? There are some dealers people have had an unreasonable amount of trouble with and it may change the answer you get here. I'm sorry this has happened to you though, it's really unfortunate
Personally, I would contact Dollzone and ask if they have shipped all cyborg orders to that dealer. Tell them exactly what's going on, though try to keep it simple (even though it's definitely not simple). I would also start asking the dealer for screenshots of their correspondence with Dollzone regarding your order. I'm also curious what dealer, as I've also been dealing with an order taking forever and replies of soon/no news (though a different doll company).
I haven’t ordered from Dollzone, but I have see a few people have problems specifically with their mech one. I don’t know the outcome but someone had a very similar problem I want to say a few months back but could be older……if the dealer placed the order and it was sent to DZ, I still feel like they should honour your exact order, though I know that doesn’t always turn out that way. Hopefully someone with a similar experience will be able to help out with some better advice. If I find the thread I’ll link it here.
I hadn't wanted to say, but yes. Unfortunately I'd made the order before seeing any of the more recent negative feedback and had hoped since I'd repeatedly ordered from there before that I wouldn't have any issues.
Yeah she has a bit of negative feedback around and I bet that your suspicions about the doll being sold by her are correct . If it was me I would keep pestering Angelesque and also contact dollzone and get their side of things on the doll If you have not seen it yet, These are interesting threads to read through . /threads/phoning-a-bjd-dealer-over-problem-transaction.814684/#post-12739231 /threads/paging-dealer-angelesque-whitey.816077/#post-12754704
If it’s angelesque I do have experience with her. Long ago she was great but just like you I got back into the hobby recently and ordered through her. I ordered a Dream Valley Gloria fullset without the tattoos. I waited the usually production time following the waiting list thread. Around Christmas, which I estimated she should be done I emailed asking for an update. She said they just came in and sent me a picture of a blank Gloria. I kindly replied saying I had a fullset and she said oops that was someone else’s order so I went back to waiting. I ended up waiting for just over a year and I kind of feel like she wasn’t supposed to be my order because she came with the tattoos. While I was waiting for Gloria to come in I ordered a DV Lami fullset with the free head from Alice collection and got her well before my Gloria. :/
You also may want to look into the history of the complaints against this dealer and PayPal's refund policies in the event of a scam (which is not a word I use lightly). If I remember correctly PayPal can do more for buyers if they can prove that they unknowingly purchased from somebody with a history of intentional scamming. It was a long time ago I had to approach PayPal about that, back in 2011. I found a thread detailing the person I was having a bad transaction with on eBay. I gave PayPal the compiled community information and received a refund immediately. Sadly, in this hobby if you spend years you see tons of businesses go from reputable to not in the blink of an eye. Yes it's the minority, but my advice is always be extra careful if there are already problems for other people starting.
Thanks, I hadn't seen that first thread before, wish I'd seen that before ordering for sure. AlisonVonderland - I wasn't sure if Paypal could help since its such a long time after ordering, but I don't really want to take it to them until I've exhausted any other options. i think they'll be my last resort. Does anyone happen to know what the best avenue for contacting Dollzone is?
I don't want to type their email so that they don't get too much spam, but the customer service email is at the very bottom of this page Buying method
Thank you, I thought I'd looked everywhere on their site for contact details but didn't think to look at the buying method page
Not much to update but I will as it helps my nerves a little to be able to tell someone what's happening. I contacted Dollzone with my issue and pointed out where a mistake may have been made with my order. I sent them my order confirmation as proof as it shows the body type under the wrong description. I got an email back from Dollzone this morning to say they will contact the dealer to deal with this issue. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for any kind of good news
Fingers crossed it gets sorted out. I just kept checking in with emails and things worked out in the end but it’s so nerve-wracking when it takes longer than expected. At least Dollzone is kind enough to help with the dealer.
