I know how much box openings helped me to determine which dolls I was interested, so I thought I should finally start doing some of my own. Apologies in advance for the camera and lighting--this is indoors and with my iPhone camera (not that I'm a such a great photographer myself). Oh well--I really got into this hobby for the sewing, so you'll have to forgive the rest! Also, sorry about the image size--I'll have to decrease there size before I upload next time! If you want more detail about either of the dolls, please tell me and I will try to answer your questions. I'll be including more photos of my Ancient Tales girl in the Project Journals section as I begin to sew her costume. OR-Doll Orlando Here is OR-Doll Orlando. I'm really a sucker for carved teeth--especially if they are separate from the head. This is the most ingenious tooth piece I have seen--no need to position it separately! His cheekbones are fantastic! Here is a close up of the backplate and tooth piece. Ancient Tales Rachel (by Olga Reinhard) Super safe packaging! She's perfect--I like that unlike the fashion dolls I have previously been exposed to, she looks more like an action figure--not heavy by any stretch of the imagination, just lifelike. She's going to be perfect for the Pre-Raphaelite heroine I have in mind for her. A little tough to pose--she's a little top heavy, but it's late, and I'm a little too tired to fiddle with her. I'll be taking more pictures later to detail costume-making, but I wanted to say that I'm really impressed with the tiny glass eyes--they have eyehooks in the back for easy removal and the wig comes with a magnet that matches one in the headcap. I'm super excited to get started with her! Here is Ancient Tales Rachel with a faceup. I decided to experiment in contouring with non-traditional colors (the faceup is mostly pastel contrast with reds and blues, with a little brown to soften the colors). I think it works for her, especially because I'm trying to mimic a Waterhouse painting. Here are the pictures. Again, apologies for the poor camera quality!
Oh I did not know Orlando had sculpted teeth ! strange that we do not see them on photos excepted the one faced up by Kanana .. Love this sculpt, really, and the wooden box !!! Thank you for showing us the opening and congratulations for the custo of the girl looks like an old painting
