I have been SO overwhelmingly amazed at the talent shown here daily! I find myself looking at the different dolls/creatures created, and find myself saying "ooh, those hands/feet are beautiful, I wish I could get some for...." or something to that effect. There also seems to be a pretty fair share of the mini market who wish their girls were more mature (bigger boobies). And for those of us who do have the option of a bigger bust for thier gals, I know some would like something a little less "cumbersome" than the large bust plate. I could see people wanting smaller/larger feet so their dolls could share shoes, or so they could buy shoes that wouldn't normally (ie. Volks MSD could wear Sharmin, Unoa, or vice versa) fit but are terribly cool, and otherwise not available. Or, I for instance, would like a few different hand sculpts for my Unoa. I'm not suggesting copying option parts availble ie. making a mold of the original piece and making resin copies, but rather making something different that would increase creative options. So, to get to the point, has anyone ever considered making pieces for dolls that are already out there and marketing the items? I know resin colors could be a problem, but it would be a risk I'd be willing to take. Besides, with airbrushing or blushing, or clever dressing or posing, a color difference may not be an issue at all. I've used minis as the example here because that's what I have. I'd imagine there would be similiar interest though for the big uns. Any thoughts on this??? I'm insanely interested!
I don't know about optional parts for other dolls. I plan on making optional parts for the copies I make of Tallulah- feet, hands, ears, wings, tails. The only doll I'd really be able to do optional parts for would be the Dollfie Dream, since that's the only SD I have. Resin matching would be a bit of an issue. Maybe it could be done as an aesthetic service. Send your doll in and parts can be custom made to fit. Then with each different doll you take care of, you make copies of the parts you made so that you can build up a bank of designs specific to each doll. Could be fun Fairysquisher
it would be cool, the only thing i worry about is copyright? anyone got legal knowledge who knows if this would be legal? would be so cool if it was!
It's definitely legal, you're creating aftermarket parts to fit existing dolls. The only issue would be that you couldn't necessarily advertise USING the doll-company's name . . . i.e., you couldn't sell "Option Hands for Volks MSDs," but you could sell "BabyTarragon's Option Hands, fit Volks MSDs and DODs" . . . the important part is to make sure that you're not using the company's trademarked name in a way that makes it appear that you're sponsored by or affiliated with them. I'm going to be doing paw-hands and paw-feet (and possibly optional tails) to fit CP bodies once my Mau-catgirl-heads are done -- Andi
P.S. Valentine, did you see this post about customizing existing hands into new finger positions? Maybe you could pick up some spare hands and give it a go! -- A :>
I'd love to, but I wonder if that process would even work on the Volks resin? Besides... I currently live in a hotel (owned by my college, partially used as a dorm for students), so there aren't any ovens or anything available for experimentation. =^^=;;; If someone wanted to do it for me, though... XD
