OOAK Worgen (Werewolf/Anthro) BJD - 1st BJD project

Dec 6, 2012

    1. Hello everybody :)

Finally I started to sculpt my first BJD ever. It's gonna be a female Worgen BJD. First I planned to directly sculpt the BJD I always wanted to do (female Na'vi BJD), but I then thought "hrm, better start off with something a bit more simple", because the fur (which will follow as last step in sculpting stage) might camouflage some deformed spots and stuff, so yeah, here I go :)

For those who don't know how a (female) Worgen from World of Warcraft looks like:

This is my Worgen Druid who's serving as subject for my first BJD (I want to sculpt my BJD slightly more feminine-ish than the original Worgen model).
I'm also planning to sew/craft her armor as shown on the picture above, incl. the bandages, the necklaces and stuff.

I'm using Super Sculpey Firm for this, still need to buy the joints (wooden beads), elastics for stringing, sandpaper and this and that. Well, this is how far I got (1st Test Stringing with a simple elastic, 5 Euro Cents for size comparison):

As you can see on the last image, I'm not using a S-pin inside the head, this wire-sling seemed more practicable to me.

And, last but not least, two image of how she looks with the (yet unfinished) eyes inside her head, the second one shows the actual size (better than the coin, I guess) compared to my left hand:

It all looks and is indeed still very rough, details, sanding and stuff will follow, like new pictures of the following progress :)

Would be awesome if you let me know what you think about it so far, because it's my first BJD and I'm sure I could use any good advise and hint. ;)

      So, to be continued... ^^

    2. very cool - love wow and worsens and your doll is looking good so far

    3. Very Nice so far. The trapezuis muscles are very well done too. Looks like you have a pretty good eye for anatomy. I can't wait to see more. What material are you working with?

    4. Thanks you, guys :)

Clarine, I'm using Super Sculpey Firm for this. I never used Polymer Clay before (only air drying paper clay, wasn't happy with it), so I didn't know which one to buy, but I'm quite happy with the firm, gray material so far :)

I already continued to work on this doll, it's so much fun and so addictive, lol, would've never guessed that. ^^ And because it's so much fun I don't have enough patience for waiting to continue with this until I've bought the joints, so I sculpted some yesterday. They're not perfectly round, but hey, I guess they'll work nonetheless :)

So, guys, more pics soon to come ^^

    5. Very beautiful! May I ask what you used for your doll's core?

    6. Worgen are really cool :D Good job :)

    7. Thank you, guys :)

Manamei, I used nothing special; I used Allen keys and wrapped the clay around them. Then I baked the parts and pulled the Allen keys out of the baked clay carefully while they were still hot/warm.

Didn't have the time to continue working on this one, but I hope I'll be able to work on it again soon. :/

    8. This is going to be good. I really like her. Just one little thing. Your muzzle is slightly turned counter clock wise. It might just be the face plate needs to be tweaked. I'm sure it will be an easy fix. She is going to be beautiful. I'm going to keep track of this posting. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Good job Thanks for sharing.

    9. Way cool! Worgen are my fave race to play, and this is such a great turnout! Keep it up, can't wait to see more!
