Okay let's do this!

Jan 5, 2015

    1. ...And see if I have a place here.
I'm Elwing, and none of my projects are ever finished. I make heads for existing bodies. I make them of FIMO because they are one-offs and do the best I can, and when I feel I can do better I throw away my head and make another one. This is how you learn. I made some 10 heads in the last year and there is progress, but not enough.
This is my latest, it's made for a male 60cm Mirodoll body with a dark chocolate skin tone. it was pretty tricky to mix the right color, but I think better than the first try.
      So, there you go.:)

    2. Wow, very nice! Great overall proportions, beautiful style and detail, and I love the expressiveness of the features. I would love to see more of your work!

    4. that is a darn good match in skintone~ really nice work! I really like the shape of his nose

    5. Yes, it worked out well. It's not that dark- and there is a lot of grey in it. The first photo probably catches it best.
He's had an unfortunate accident in which I mislaid one of his arms, so I made him a prosthetic. The camera does not want much to do with it.

    6. Looks really good!

    7. That prosthetic is AMAZING. I could stare at it forever, it's so beautiful. What did you use as materials? Also I really love the heads, although I shivered when you say you just throw them away - I could never do it even if I did a better head to replace it. XD But you're right, that's how you learn and you have obviously learned beautifully! ♥

    8. I used small brass profiles and tubes and wire, the sort they sell in a good model store that caters to people who build miniature ships. And also, FIMO "transparent" which bakes only just slightly translucent. The darker material is Cernit bronze, I think, with a slight dusting of fimo gold powder. A few drops of FIMO liquid here and there, and everything stays put. It took a couple of tries to get right, not completely happy, may try again at some point...
