Ohayocon January 18-20 (Columbus, OH)

Dec 26, 2012

    1. Ohayocon is right around the corner and there wasn't a thread yet...who all is going!

      Meet up times

Friday - Saturday - Sunday: 1 PM At the Java City Cafe in the Convention Center. NOT The Java City by the large staircase.

      ***BACK UP***

The convention center is hosting America's Got Talent auditions on Saturday and Sunday. If the Java City meeting spot becomes hectic with traffic, the doll meet will move to the glass walk from the Hyatt to the convention center

      Panel Times

      BJD After Dark

I have also created an event on FB: https://www.facebook.com/events/386223548134320/

Here is a map of the convention center:
      https://www.columbusconventions.com/maps.php
The purple area is the Java City.

    2. I will be attending, but I do not know how they will have me scheduled.

    3. I'll be there on Saturday!!

    4. I'll be going since I live in Columbus now, but I wasn't sure if I should take any dolls or not.

    5. I'm going! It will be interesting to actually see other collectors in person.

    6. I will possibly be attending Saturday. Do we have any times for meet-ups, or will it be pretty much the same as it has been previous years, with meets around 1 in the afternoon?

    7. I say that the 1 pm meeting time at the "deli" in the actual convention center would be optimal. It makes us consistent and easy to find for anyone who is newly interested in the hobby. Should I post on Ohayocon forums and Facebook page, 1 pm every day during the convention weekend?

    8. I'm going at least Sat and Sun, trying to get Friday too, but I haven't decided if I'm bringing any of my dolls or not. I would like to, but I don't relish the idea of carrying them when I have other things for my cosplay. But if its at 1pm then maybe I'll bring one along just for the meet.

    9. Yeah, it'd be great to have it posted via FB and the forum. So 1 PM at theeee....is it called Java City?

    10. I do believe that it is called Java City. Would you like to post it on the FB page and forum or shall I?

    11. I'll be going :) I usually bring a doll with me-hopfully I'll actually make one of the meetups this year lol

    12. Huge chance my friend and I will be there. Perhaps just for the doll meet up!

    13. Hi everyone! I've been accepted to run "BJD After Dark" again this year. For those of you who joined us last year, thanks a bunch! I know you had to put up with drunken bar patrons, a broken projector, and everything else that went wrong! I have no idea when I'm scheduled, but I'll post it here when I know.

So my question for everyone is what would you like to see? Last year I believe the main suggestion was photography for more risque doll scenes. This year I'm planning to include that, as well as time for a swap toward the end. And, depending on the time of night, perhaps adjourn for a late night pizza and doll gawking party?

Let me know what you'd like to see, what you think should be covered, and if you have any topic you'd love to chime in on. I'm limited with some things as I only have one SD sized dolls and all the others are child sized *_*

I'll be trying to attend the doll meet! With secen hours of panels to run, it might get a little crazy, but I can try!

    14. You guys are awesome. I don't even have to really plan the meets this year...we've become regulars. Yes, Java city in the convention center at 1pm every conday. Swaps and sales are welcome in the convention center since it's outside of Ohayocon technically.
I have to limit which dolls I bring this year, as my family keeps growing...so check my profile and tell me requests.
Kama- risque does not have to be SD size...I have some MSD couples too...it all depends on what you style your dolls as. Last year we had fun with optional parts...but there wasn't enough time for more...so if you can get more than an hour for your time it would be better. As for content, I slideshow of good condoll photostories would be great (with posters permission of course) so we get an idea of the good ones.

    15. I think I phrased that badly. I have two yosd and a puki that are extremely child like. In styling and in character age. Nothing against more maturely or adult styled little dolls! Just that mine are not, thus the source of the awkwardness and why I wouldn't feel comfortable using them to demonstrate any photography.

I'll go through some archives to see if I can find anything good! If anyone has suggestions, feel free to PM them to me. And I doubt I'll get more time, but I can always ask if they can schedule me right before a room is empty for a time.

    16. I'm planning on being there at least one of the days! Don't mind me staring at all your dolls with googly eyes - I'm waiting for my very first doll to arrive and it will probably get here wayyyy after Ohayocon :fangirl:

    17. First and foremost, let me introduce myself. I'm Ryuichi aka Ryu, and I'm the Head of Ohayocon's Medical Staff...and a resinoyd-aholic.

Usually, we meet Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 1PM. We meet outside of the convention because there are often people that want to go to the Meetup but not the con itself.

So, if you haven't already posted on fb the dates and the times, feel free to do so. I need to check my fb more often! :doh Mind posting a link for those that aren't on fb very often?

I remember that panel! It was a BLAST! I hope you get two hours this year!

I'll be bringing Ryuichi and Tatsuha again, and their "optional parts" if you want to talk about boy bits. ;) Ryuichi's 60cm and Tatsuha's 70cm, and both are very adult, so you can use them to illustrate...uh....if you need them to.

Hopefully I'll also have Tohma as well, and he's 70cm so you should have plenty of SDs and above to help you get started.

I'm also up for the late night meetup after the panel too.

Hopefully, I'll have at least five, maybe even six dolls to bring by then if things go right. I'm willing to help you out with "the Band and the Fans" if you need them to. I also have 2 MSDs, the youngest being 16, so most of them are "of legal age." Chiyoko's 18, and with her large breast, a very mature (but still single) MSD.

And like Teseya said, since we're outside of the con itself, we can trade and even sell dolls and other items if we want!

Can't wait to see all of you! :D

      Ryu
      Ohayocon's Head of Medical Dept.

    18. Updated the times on the first post!

Who all is everyone bringing :) I'll be bringing my Rose, Mikuru, and hopefully my new DD Rise!!

I'll also be cosplaying as Akiko (Kanon) on Saturday and possibly in some sorta lolita coord on Friday...

    19. I'm bringing all of my current full dolls. :XD:

      Definites

Sakuma Ryuma: CP Delf Dreaming Shiwoo (Ryuichi's OC twin brother) - 1/3rd size

Uesugi Tatsuha: DIM MNM Gravitation: Yuki Eiri/Spiritdoll Proud v2 hybrid - 70cm

Sakuma "Ichi" Ryuichi: CP MNF Elf Shiwoo Happy Hour version/FL A-line hybrid - 1/4th size

Chiyoko: CP MNF Scarred Shiwoo/FL A-line hybrid - 1/4th size

I'm hoping to have Tohma as well as Ryuichi's new body home by then as well, so:

Seguchi Tohma: DoD DoI Luke - 70cm (He might be having his head traded to a friend for a blank one sometimes soon.)

Sakuma Ryuichi: CP Delf OE Shiwoo/FL F60 hybrid - 1/3rd size

Good thing I usually put them in the Limo (aka a umbrella stroller), but with the two new ones, if they come home in time, I'll be leaving some in the carry bag while I push the others around. ;)

      Ryu

    20. I was wondering....is there an event for the meetups on facebook? And if so, can it be linked in the first post? :?

We can get more people that way if it was mentioned in the Ohio BJD thread. :3nodding:

      Ryu

    21. I fully intend to bring at least two dolls, one of which being my Sard. I would like to bring my new MNFs, but chances are I won't them face-uped in time.

I'm excited to see all of you interested dolly owners! It's been about a year or so since I last got to hang out with other resin fans and I've really missed it. I'm only going to the convention this year for the doll meet, so again, I'm super happy to see so many will be going. :) I can't wait!

    22. Good idea! I'm on it now :)

    23. You're bringing Ryuma? Not Aesha? *pout* you can still put a boy's body in a dress...it looks alright...
Oh well, there's loyalty for you...Jk
anyway...has been suggested (by Ryu) that I bring my newest...since I have 15 dolls I have to limit myself.
Etsuko- Elfdoll Bong Sun Hwa (tiny doll...I have 5 more...might bring a couple more of them)
      New Moon Scrappy tiny doll
Roaul- Dollshe Bernard pure (everyone wants to see him...even though he is heavy and I don't have even a stroller.)
Beth- MNF Rheia white skin a-line sm bust (easy enough...just need to figure out what she should wear)
and the classic Wendy- everyone likes to see her for some reason. Oh, She's a CH Hyun hybrid.
I almost feel bad for Philippe who gets little meetup attention and for the twins and my beloved Teir who has not been getting as much attention with the new big dolls, and his brother Luke.
Oh, and Ilya will be coming again to meet up with the other wishels...always have to remember that...since it's such a rare happening.
maybe I can rig up one of my sm rolling suitcases to be a doll case...

    24. Teseya, I can bring both Ryuma and Aesha, all it takes is a wig change and a clothes change! Chances are it'll actually be Aesha that shows, since she's my "first 1/3 girl." I love having a cross-dressing doll! ;)

      Ryuma as his girl self.

Bring Roaul, Philippe, Wendy, and Luke if you can, I haven't met them yet. The tinies will more than likely all fit in a small bag anyway. With 15 dolls now, a wheeled suitcase sounds like something you might want to invest in. A umbrella stroller is only good for a few dolls at a time, and a wagon is too bulky for a con. Definitely want to see Beth too, I'd love to see what the FL small breast looks like IRL.

I'm subscribed to the fb page, so I'm good. :) Even if I'm not on fb as much as most people.

      Ryu

    25. Updated the first post with a link to the map of the convention center!!!!

I'm so excited!!!!!! I go to like, two meets a year and I love going to meets.

    26. geez, Ryu...all four sds? I don't know if I can handle that. unless I get more than you requesting Philippe and Luke...I don't know if I can fit them..
oh...and are you going to transfer the jointed hands to the new Ryuichi body? b/c the old hands would look better on Aesha (the non jointed ones).

    27. How about the two newest SDs then if no one else reqs them?

I definitely plan on trading hands! Those are Ryuichi's hands! I might eventually get jointed girl hands for Ryuma/Aesha, but for now, the Feeple60 hands will go on that body...when the F60 finally gets here, that is.

      Ryu

    28. I just read that America's Got Talent auditions are being held at the convention center Saturday and Sunday. This could get crazy xP

    29. It's not the open call audition that will be happening. It's a closed-call/vetted audition. The people auditioning have pre-registered for their audition and have set times they need to be there. Most of them probably won't even be interested in an anime convention and leave when their audition is over.

More than likely, they'll have quite a few security officers wandering about so no one tries to sneak in. That worries me for the people who might be selling dolly things.

    30. The first draft schedule went out and right now the "BJD After Dark" panel is at 2:30 AM on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Ugh. Definitely not my first choice, and I find it a little funny Ohayocon apparently things it is dirty enough to warrant that late of a time. I'm trying to get it switched to earlier but so far I've been told that isn't their top priority. Since they scheduled three of my other panels at overlapping times, I kind of see why *_*

So if it does get that 2:30 AM slot...is anyone interested in coming? The good news is that it will be the last panel, so we can stay in as long as we want for swapping/photos or whatever. Dollie pajama party, anyone?

    31. Kama, depending on my hours I will definitely try to see your panel. I'm hoping that they have me working earlier shifts this year. Last year it was difficult to see anything. I barely made it to the meet on Saturday... And it was only for a few minutes.

Wish I had some cute pjs to wear, just in case. ^_^

    32. I'm going to try to make it, but I usually go to sleep by like, 2 AM. I've never been much of a panel-going-person, so this year I'm trying to go to at least 2.

    33. I'm sure most of us will want to be in the most comfortable clothes possible. And hopefully you can at least request the times you want to work.

I feel you. I'd love to be asleep by 2 AM considering I get up at 7AM to start more panels. Panels at more reasonable hours would most likely be easier to get to.

    34. I'll definitely go to it!

    35. Im totally going to be there though i may only bring 2 of my 5 dolls since one has no faceup and two are over 70cm and heavy

    36. I would love to see your MNFs, faceupped or not! They're still beautiful! I have two MNFs and one has my (truly horrible) faceup, but its only there so that the artist I end up sending poor Chiyoko to gets the idea of what I want but better! ;)

You two (and anyone else) should check the Meetups section of the forums and do a search for "Ohio" a few times a month. If you don't mind driving and you have the time, there's usually something going on every month.

I will definitely be there if I'm not working. I usually go to bed around 4am, so a panel at 2:30 is no problem for me. I'll put PJs on everyone, me included and we'll come!

Maybe if you point out that there's an overlap between a couple of your panels,:| they will be more inclined to make a change. Its worth a shot.

I highly recommend investing in a umbrella stroller for your 70cm dolls. I got mine at Wal-Mart, and I can put my current two big boys in it with the MNFs on their laps.

And like I said before, unfaceupped dolls are beautiful too, not to mention its nice to be able to show newbies what the basic sculpt looks like. :3nodding:

      Ryu

    37. I should hopefully be there for the meet-up this year. I'm still mad that I didn't get there in time to go last year. I've never made it to a meet-up before so I'm equally excited and nervous.
I know for sure that I'm bringing my Leeke World girls as they have costumes to wear. I'll be dressed up so it only makes sense that they are as well.
I saw that someone mentioned bringing a Dollshe Bernard and I'm going to apologise now if I fangirl squeel at him. He's one of those guys that I've always wanted to see in person.

    38. Five days until Friday!!!!

I'm so excited! I still have to finish sewing a blazer and styling my wig and minor things.

I'm also hoping my Rise gets here on time :( Her tracking has said "Inbound out of Customs" since Wednesday...

    39. I know that I'm going to be at the con on Saturday but I'm not sure where the other java place is 0_o... I might bring along some kids not not sure what ones -__-''

    40. I'll for sure be there! Not sure which days exactly and I'm still trying to finalize which dollies I'm bringing ^^

      TC

    41. On the site it states:
"These city auditions are open to the public and pre-registering is not required, but it does allow us to update you with the latest news.

Another way to keep up to date is to check out our Facebook page or Twitter feed."

Does this also apply to Columbus?

    42. @Ryuichi - I will try to bring my new MNFs then. :) If there are any others of my dolls you'd like to see, please take a look at my profile and let me know! XD (I have too many dolls to fit into my signature. X_x)

Can't wait to see everyone Saturday!

    43. I know what you mean! I have Tohma (DoD DoI Luke) coming from Canada, and I'm hoping that this weekend will give him enough time to at least make it close to coming into the US, if not closer to me here in Cleveland. I also am debating on how to finish a pokemon cosplay for Tatsuha, not to mention cleaning and sueding him and two others I want to do beforehand, and I still have to pack....*_*

So much work, so little time!

      Ryu

    44. I'm thinking of going. I was hoping my girl would have proper clothes by now, but they haven't even shipped. DX So she's in a very crude dress. But she's so pretty so I might still go on Saturday.

    45. I see the schedule is up! Looks like, tentatively, there's the Asian Ball Jointed Doll panel from 6:30-7:30 in Panel 6 on Friday

    46. Bring her! We've had nekkid dolls show up, only to go home in clothes! :3nodding:

      Ryu

    47. okay...so the schedule format is completely unreadable to me...darn...and I wanted to do some preplanning. Will only open in works spreadsheet and not properly...won't even open in adobe reader. Weird. Anyways, turns out I'm bringing tinies, 2 SDs and 2 MNFs. I will also have stuff to sell, jewelry, accessories and some clothes.

    48. I, honestly, don't know. I don't have anyone I know auditioning this year. But...

This isn't the reason why I'm worried for people selling dolly things. The reason I'm worried is because, while the convention center is public, people selling items on public city property normally are required to have a permit to sell. With the added security, we might not be able to sell anything.

    49. omg yay first time i will be attending a meet up since i finally got my first bjd in September <3

    50. I don't think security officers will care long as we quite and respectable group. If one does comes over then we can just say we are having doll meet with friends. Long as we are not in area booked by Ohayocon then selling items should be alright. If offers does tells us to leave then we can move meet-up to plan B area (glass window), but no selling (that area part of the con). It not like Officers can confiscated our stuff, they can only give us a warning to move or stop selling. We sold stuff last year near cafe and if a officer does see us this year they may only see it as group of people playing with their dolls. They may not find worth their time get any closer to our group, because they will be to busy with AGT people to worry about dolly poeple.

    51. 3 more days :)!!!

I've got sewing to do, online homework to get done, and packing to get done! Can't wait!!!!! I'll probably get to the Friday meet really early if anyone wants to hangout before hand

    52. I'm coming as well since I live in Columbus for school. I'll be bringing my Ringdoll Wagashi (Corby), and my Luts Cherry Elf (Cheru). I'd bring my new DD girl but she's not insured yet. :sweat

See you guys Saturday for sure! Also, I can't wait for BJD after dark as it was an awesome panel last year!

    53. Alright, plans have been made I'll definitely be there for the Saturday meet! I'll be dressed up so this should be fun. I know I'm bringing my Leeke World girls as they have costumes as well, don't know if I want to bring more than that.

    54. Sadly, I am unable to attend any meet-ups this year as they have me "guarding" the Scavenger Hunt table this year. My break isn't until 2 pm. According to my schedule, however, I will be able to attend the 2:30 am BJD After Dark panel. ^_^

    55. I think I have everything ready. I have decided to bring my oldest boy Noboru (luts shiwoo), Dai ( ltf rachel), Cinder (DZ aimi) and maybe one more (that's up in the air tho). Going to have to get up at the crack of dawn to drive 2 and a half hours to get there, but eh I feel it's worth it. Tho the Saturday reg line most likely won't be >_>. On a good note, if we are able to sell or trade our items I have items I no longer need.

3 more days! (for me lol)

    56. I just got my first doll in the mail yesterday!! I don't plan on bringing her though.. too new and since I am driving and not getting a room to be able to drop her off I'd be afraid something could happen to her >_< But I'd still like to meet everyone!

    57. I think my friend Cat and I will be there Saturday. I am gonna bring one of my tinies I keep thinking about bringing one of the dollshe boys but they are so big and heavy and I would die if they got hurt. HOWEVER I can bring a head if anyone wants to see. I have Rosen, and Saint which I sure no one is interested in BUT I also have a Van head if anyone wants to see him.

    58. I can't wait! Last year there were so many beautiful dolls! I have an AA table again this year, so I will prob only go to one of the meets, and I will try to make the panel on Friday. I'll have my Doll Love Ke and Hujoo Suve.

    59. Eep!!!!! I more day :)!!!!!!!

I am nearly done sewing, I forgot my glue gun at home (I modified a hat and I want to hot glue the ribbon back on) so I still have some stuff to do.

Going to pack up the dolls and probably take a picture of them looking all cute in their doll bag.

      I'm way too excited!!

Also, I'm looking at all my stuff and wondering how the heck to fit it in the bag...

    60. I'm so excited! I can't wait to see everyone and their dolls! This will be my first doll meet! Or even in person interaction with others in the hobby! I hope everything will go well! Me and my friend are rather shy, our first dolls haven't come in yet, but are on their way!
