I was wondering, does anyone own any of the off topic little obitsus here? They look to be about Barbie size, so I was wondering, could you put an obitsu head on a barbie/GI joe body if you wanted?
I bought a 27cm Obitsu body to use as a better option for my Forces of Destiny Princess Leia. Also used it for Mulan, so it fits two different kinds of dolls. Was going to try paler skinned Barbie Fashionista on it but I kept breaking the heads trying to swap them lol. Only problem with the Obitsu is no tanned or darker skinned options, that I've seen, at least.
Well, it takes practice to get the head off? LOL. I had no problem with Princess Leia and Mulan but when I tried the Barbie Fashionistas is when my luck ran out. From the vids I've seen on Youtube you can use a hair dryer to soften the neck to make it easier. It is worth it when you do get the head on and your Barbie can now really move lol. The Obitsu stands really well on its own but even the Made to Move Barbies require a bit of coaxing to get them to stand.
Connections might be a tricky bit.. I've never tried it. I do have a few Obitsu here. You can customize them a little bit, but not as much as resin. Here's Colleen, my favorite 27cm Obitsu. She's had a lot of her hard edges sanded down, been sprayed with MSC and body blushed a little. I want to do more defining around her eyes, and she's often switching wigs. They wear about a 3-4.
Got one 27cm with soft bust here... but got a lot plans with some obitsus. Waiting for two bodies and some heads to arrive at my reseller
The 27cm is great for giving new life to Barbies, it laughs at Barbie's "Made to Move" body lol. Just wish there was more color variations than super white and regular white.
for the 11cm there were some special colours lately as a special offer. Like "Super White" and a tanned one. They might doe that for others someday too?
Oh awesome they brought back the tan! It used to be offered on some sizes- back in about 2009 was the last time I was able to buy them.
Sadly it was only a limited offer I'll hope our local based retailer will get some specials, but they ordering at Parabox .. the less gloss version of the 24cm i bought per shopping service because Obitsu Shop says only Japan ;_; The same Issue with the awesome Clothes that would fit Obitsu.
Aww. I wonder if it's like tan resin, where getting a consistent rich color is difficult for some reason...? Or if it's because most of their market is in East Asia where people consider tan skin to be less desirable/beautiful than the palest possible skin?
Various figure shops have seamless female figures in tan but I'm turned off them by the kinda pervy attention to detail that lets you know they're made mainly for male collectors.
What size Obitsu? I have white and normal/flesh. There's a limited Maronne around somewhere too. Squishy boob ones can be stain magnets. All the rooted heads but the blond (Volks) are Obitsu. Headless guy fits Dragon style split necks with that plug. Warming with a hair dryer should help soften squishy doll heads. If it can get wet hot water works too. I've water tortured too many Monster Highs to count so I could reroot them.
I've been thinking about an Obitsu, but I don't know whether or not to get a 27cm or an 11cm...? I think it might be a good way to see if I'd like real resin dolls down the road. I'd much rather spend ~40$ instead of ~250$ if I'm unsure if I'll enjoy it for the long term, or if it's yet another one of my passing hobbies 8P It would really suck to get an Obitsu and then not be able to share pictures on DoA anywhere except brigadoon though, and then have to wait until I get a spare $250 for an OT doll...
@Beeves Unless you're set on a tiny doll for the palm of your hand get a 27cm regular (hard bust) Obitsu female, like the body in the picture with the elf head. They can generally fit Barbie and similar fashion doll clothes and the hard bust won't easily stain like a soft bust might.
Would you guys have comparison photos of the obitsu colours and mirodoll colours? I have a head that needs a body and mirodoll has nice ones
