Obitsu and azone

The 1/6 Obitsu and Azone fashion dolls are off-topic for Den of Angels, so you won't find any discussion of those dolls here.
There aren't many 1/3 Obitsu and Azone dolls here, but you may want to also join the Dollfie Dreams forum, as the Azone/Obitsu discussions are much livelier over there.

 

I have some experience with both Obitsu and Azone bodies (not full dolls, just bodies), and I must confess that I prefer Azone bodies. I've rebodied two dolls with Obitsu bodies and had widely varied results. The first doll (a Takara Orie-san doll, better known as Licca-chan's mother) wears a 27-cm white skin soft bust body. It's got great posing and is a perfect scale and shade for Orie's head, but the waist is very loose and flops around a lot. I'm also concerned for the longevity of some of the hard plastic pieces.

Second doll with an Obitsu body is a vintage Star-Spangled Dolls Southern belle whose arms kept falling off. I ordered a 23-cm fleshtone hard bust body for her. Her head does not match the fleshtone body, but it fits nicely and again, head and body are in scale. So if you're thinking about going the Obitsu route, I'd suggest a hard bust. The smaller size also came with some extra hands, something that the larger body did not come with.

The Azone body is a size small in white skin, and one of my Licca-chan dolls wears that. Her body is heavier than the Obitsu body, and the posing isn't quite as good but it's still way better than what Licca's old Takara body had to offer. This body also has switchable hands, making Licca a more dynamic doll to pose and play with. So this is just my personal preference, but I like the Azone body better.
