~Nygyl, the Fish Man~ (SD size) *Dragon's Candy*

Jan 25, 2009

    1. Over a year ago my buddy *Sara* (sculptor) and I (designer) started on this doll head. He has gone through many changes and he is getting closer and closer to being ready to cast.

We have learned a great deal through the process and are starting to get the hang of it! A special thanks to Batchix for all her helpful tips and for answering all my questions on Deviant Art!

We've finally got him to a stage where we wanted to share him. Please meet Nygyl (pronounced "Nigh-Jil" XD ) the Fish Demon. He is one of many of his race that we plan to make. ^_^

Please note that these are just photos of his faceplate, so he is missing the back of his head! These were taken yesterday after the first coat of Mr. Surfacer. Sara still has a bit more smoothing and filling in to do, but Nygyl is getting there! She's such an amazing sculptor! He looks exactly like my schematic! ^_^

We are trying to make him pretty versatile. We call him a water demon, fish person, lizard man, dragon, etc. After staring at these photos, I actually can't wait to cast one in a soft yellow and paint it to look like an Audrey II with eyes! LOL!

I guess that's enough from me, I'll let *Sara* take the reigns from here!!!

    2. Wonderfull!! He is so good. waitting for see when you finished paint him XD

    3. Ehehe, Audrey II the bjd is an awesome idea!

    4. Yo~

*Sara* here with a quick message. I thought I'd post a couple of pics with eyes in. They're 12mm, and fit really well. This is such a fun project~ XD

We'll try to have an update soon. He's SD sized, by the way.

    5. Wow, talk about a unique sculpt! Great job guys, I can't wait to see more. Are you sculpting a body for him as well?

    6. He reminds me of one of the turtles from TMNT. :3

    7. Oh wow!!! I love him, very very cool! The second pic with the eyes look slike 'hey baby, ever kissed fish lips?" LOL

    8. Fantastic sculpt! Great look, very friendly! I'm presently working on a sculpt (which I'll post about sometime... when I'm ready to show it) and I know it's not easy work! I can't wait to see how the casting process goes. Do you know what company you'll be going through for resin?

    9. I love it. He is very expressive!!

    10. he is a great head! are you going to be casting him yourself? Its a lot of work - but fun... and the head is the easiest part to do (or at least after we got the pressure pot it was ....)

    11. @ivyadrena: Thanks! Yes, we are sculpting a body for him. ^^ ....if I would just finish the schematic...hehehe

@elegantdestruction: We really haven't decided. We were thinking about Bobobie for a time since they do the green and blue resins, but they seem pretty busy. We'll have to do some more research and see what we can come up with.

@patl: Yup! We will be casting a few of the heads on our own. We really want to get used to the process and see what it is like. We are very excited. ^w^ And a pressure pot is probably a very good idea....

      Thanks for the support everyone!

    12. AAaa! I'd die for an AudreyII with eyes :fangirl:
Seriously, that's one innovative piece of work, all the while going (in my opinion) with the BJD aesthetic.
      Fantastic :o

    13. THAT SMIRK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *dies from awesomeness*OMG Hes awesome! What an idea! :D :D Congrats!!:fangirl:

    14. It's nice to see something not meant to be a yaoi prettyboi or Victorian princess, let alone, not particularly even humanoid! Every handmade doll is interesting due to the hard work and dedication people put into them, but this one really has personality! Lame "Ur doll r purty", I know, but encouragement never hurts. ;)

    15. Heh, inspired by your icon I'm seeing the prospect of a bowser doll which would be soooo cool. I love the way he looks with eyes in the last picture

    16. Can't wait to see him with a body! Great work!

    17. WOW!!!!!!
      so sexy smile >3>
