I've been meaning to make a cat BJD for a long time... and finally I've got the time to start! Here's the result of the first few steps: This is a Styrofoam core with a layer of DAS clay over it, with the jointing plans sketched on top. I'm going to redo the tail (since I realised the current curved shape would skew the shape of the final parts), and the front legs still need some tweaking, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with it so far
I'm going to bet you'll be done first! Just getting to this point has taken me ages, and I still have to spend more time working up the nerve to cut it all up!
Well, yours is more realistic and complicated than mine ever would be, so I might be faster....But thought it will motivate both of us. I sure would love to see yours progressing real soon....How big is this kitty by the way?
Oh, I'm sure it will be motivating to watch us both progress! I just know I'm a very slow worker (I tend to spend a bit too much time obsessing over reference photos ). I'm hoping having a WIP thread will speed me up a bit, though. My guy is roughly 18cm tall, how about yours?
18cm tall? Holy crap. Half scale cat? Mine is like 6cm... puny. I have to build at least 5 cats to make it a fair race...Man, I am freaking excited to see yours get progressed.
