Just joined after following a link from DOA since they're shutting down the Artists Subforum over there. I actually just joined over there recently after following another doll artist's links when I became interested in making a bjd. I've been sculpting for close to seven years, mostly art dolls. A member on an art doll team I'm on brought up the topic of bjd's and I was somewhat interested since I've been thinking recently of trying more poseable dolls. Anyway, when she mentioned she wanted to try it but was nervous about doing it, I offered to do one as well--kind of a support thing for each other. Except that I followed a link to DOA and got completely hooked. Now I find myself trying to figure out how to justify spending that much money on one doll and convincing myself to just start sculpting one. I've actually started quite a bit of research (between DOA, online tutorials and a copy of Yoshida's book) and collecting some supplies I don't have, like wooden beads for joints. I currently have a book commission I'm working on (I'm also a bookbinder) but plan on drawing out doll plans once I have the book finished and shipped off (hopefully this weekend). I didn't even realize this forum was here so I'm sort of glad DOA shut down that subforum and posted the link to this one--I really need a good forum/group that has info, tips, and encouragement for someone interested in making these types of dolls. I haven't posted much on DOA but my user name is Lady Artisan over there.
