Newbie Guide to DoA

Hi there!
Welcome to Den of Angels!

DoA has been around for many years, so our forums are very large, and might be intimidating. We hope this little guide will help you figure out where to post about certain topics, and where to find information!

You will want to make sure to review the Main Rules, Terms of Service, and Criteria for Doll Inclusion before you get started posting.
DoA is focused on only resin BJDs, so some dolls and topics are not allowed here. You will want to review the rules in order to avoid posting something that might be removed.

Once you are familiar with our rules, you might want to start by introducing yourself to others here!
Introductions

If you have any beginner questions about BJD ownership like terminology, how hybrids work, or questions about different wig types; or even just navigating the forum, you can start a thread here in Newbieland.

Once you've gotten your feet wet, you might want to share your doll photos with others. This is what the Galleries are for!

You can:
Post a Gallery thread: Main Gallery
or a Photostory: Photostories
or create a Doll Profile: Doll Profiles

You can also join in on a Discussion thread for your specific doll. Each company has their own dedicated discussion thread for each of their doll lines:

Mini Dolls: Mini Dolls Discussion
Tiny Dolls: Tiny Dolls Discussion
So for example, if you would like to talk about a Fairyland MiniFee, you can go to the Mini Dolls Discussion to find the MNF-specific discussion thread.
These discussion threads can also be used to ask questions about that specific doll line (like what kinds of clothing, shoes, or accessories work well, or ask for help with the mechanics of that doll).

The General Discussion area is for more generalized, abstract hobby topics:

If you are looking for help with styling and customizing, check out the Workshop!

You can ask for help with basically anything there!
Help with finding/choosing a doll, or picking a style or accessories: Visual Concepts

Don't forget to read the Stickied threads! A number of them have been moderator-curated to make sure that a lot of very basic information, as well as the most important information, is all easily readable in one place.

And don't forget about the Search function!

DoA has been around for so long, that a lot of your questions may have been answered by someone already. If you make sure to thoroughly look for your topic first, and read any Sticky threads that might apply to your question, you might get an answer before you even need to type up a thread! The Reference area of DoA is chock-full of all sorts of helpful information, like photo examples of different dolls, eyes, wigs, and styles, as well as an entire Wiki full of data too!

Of course, some questions are unique, so if you can't find what you're looking for, don't be afraid to start a new thread in the applicable forum to ask for help!
