Meetup New York City November 12, 2016 meetup

Ok, very short gallery this time, as only 3 of us braved the post-Trump-election chaos. I'll go into it in the thread for December's meetup so we can discuss things, as we did research alternate location possibilities.

To put it briefly, the Trump Tower was closed from any entering. I read that the police kept the previous days' Fifth Avenue demonstrations pushed back to the opposite side of the Avenue. But there were also barriers on the Madison Avenue near side that went from 55th to 57th. At 1ish, I was able to use the 55th St. entrance to the Sony Center, but that was also blocked later on, as the demonstrations seemed to start up in the evenings.

Only the 57th St. entrance to the atrium was open. Nobody was inspecting anyone walking in, but there were cops aplenty outside, and a quartet of suits at the tower doors. The mozzarella bar boss was cranky, as they weren't making much business from the few people that came in.

We felt sorry for the little birds. The finches seemed almost desperate, and spent a lot of time walking right up to and around our feet and under our table. Either they hadn't gotten fed yet (I've seen plates of bird seed set out among the foliage late in the day), or a substantial part of their diet is crumbage from visitors. One planting of chrysanthemums was getting seriously chewed apart too.

Anyway, we set up for a couple of hours. As I forgot my camera, I had to practice zombie breathing to make sure my phone pix weren't blurry!
