Meetup New York City meetup - May 13th, 2023

May 13, 2023

    1. Today's New York City meet was wonderful! It was great to get back to the NYC meet after so many years. The last one I went to was December 2019. It was great to see some old faces and a bunch of new ones. The variety of dolls was amazing as always, too. I'm looking forward to returning during the summer. I don't want to wait three and a half years and outlive a global situation again!

Many thanks to @Minty for keeping the meet going. @hobbywhelmed we miss you!

Some of my favorites today were: The 1/6 scale-looking mature small doll. She's so cute! The absolutely stunning Angel-Philia doll. What a beautiful young lady she is! The gothy-looking elf girl with the long black hair and the jointed fingers? Is that right? Anyway, she's so pretty! The guy with the molded hair and the hat really looks cool. He's a character, but I don't remember who. And I don't know what to call the small grandpa-looking doll with the long ears, but he was a barrel of laughs!

I'll post group shots and an assortment of fun photos here in the topic, and here's a link to all of my photos from today. Note that I marked a couple photos of a beautiful nude doll as moderate on Flickr, so if you're logged into Flickr, you'll see this doll. ABJD Meet - 5/13/23 - New York City (I also included some shots of the city.)

If you see any red Xes, you should be able to click on them to go to the Flickr photo page to see the photo there, or you could just use the above link to see everything.

    3. Thanks for posting photos! It's great to see the abundance of dolls looking so great!

Miss you too, @Gamma Ray! Unfortunately, traveling isn't within my capability right now. Looks like the atrium space - was anything ever completed in the Sony building?

    4. You're welcome! I'm happy to share the pics for everyone :)

It is the IBM Building atrium space. No armed guards, at least in the atrium. I didn't go into Trump Tower. Pretty much the same as it always was.

There's a new outdoor area where the old Sony Building space used to be. Or at least part of it. I didn't take a close look at it, but I was talking about it with Minty. They definitely redid that area a lot. I'll try to remember to take some pics of that space next time.

    9. Thank you, @animemom and @Jareth :)

animemom, hopefully you receive your answer by the owner here :sweat

Jareth, the weather was pretty nice when I was taking the earlier photos. It was overcast but not too bad. Kind of humid, though. Then the sun came out for a while :XD: Our organizer was visiting England recently and brought over Colin for us.

    11. I'm happy to help provide some extra pics :) I'm looking forward to next time. I might go again next month. It's the only doll meet in NY or NJ that weekend. I thought there was another one down in south NJ but that's happening a different weekend.

    12. It was such a nice time! These pics are great!! Wanted to share this pic my friend took of his wife's dolls: the two Azones and a vintage Ashita No Joe doll. They were all given ice creams!!

Does anybody know what kind of doll the guy sitting with the book in the picture with the bigger dolls is?

    15. Thank you! I'm glad you liked the photos :)

I don't know who that doll is. Hopefully his owner pops by this topic.

MistyZenith is asking about this doll, assuming it's not a red X

    16. I ask that same question. And the answer is NO. You need to go the England and bring it back in your checked luggage.
That make him a little expensive.
