Hello! My name is V and I'm no stranger to doll collecting, but I am new to the BJD hobby. I have a fairly large collection of vintage porcelain dolls and modern fashion dolls (Rainbow/Shadow/Monster High, specifically) and I am waiting for my first BJD to arrive - A Skyland Dolls Pigi. I made my DOA account initially just to lurk and look at doll profiles, but now that I'll have a doll of my own, I thought I'd introduce myself x A few fun facts about me: - I am a makeup artist and I hope to apply those skills to faceups someday. - In addition to dolls, I love Sanrio (especially Kuromi), alternative fashion, and horror movies. - I am autistic, and I suppose dolls could be considered a special interest of mine. I love anything that seems alive but isn't, including dolls, mannequins, puppets, taxidermy, and animatronics.
Welcome! did you read the doa rules? It's good to start there. I'm autistic too. I love sanrio, san-x, kpop (specifically BTS), Kdrama, automatons, plush toys, Lolita fashion & modern hanboks (but I choose to wear comfy clothes because my sensitive skin), etc. I guess I've always been focused on television as a strong interest. My childhood memories are pretty fragmented and the memories I do recall aren't good, but i can recall many of thr shows I saw or saw in passing. I can spend hours trying to search for the shows to figure out the names, but i can't find all of it. Some were very old shows my mom would watch in her native language and I only saw a tiny portion because she told me to leave her alone. I can't find it because I can't speak the language. Then again I'm not good at English either. I think I'm not good at language because no one spoke to me except my sister and we spoke a lot in random gibberish for a while. People started talking to me when I began school before that no one really spoke to me or my sister unless it was to scream or something. I have a bad habit of getting off topic. Edit: I don't feel comfortable telling people I'm autistic, but I began to yesterday. I think sometimes I come across as trying to shove my favorite stuff on people like kdramas, but I'm not too sure. I can't really keep a conversation going, but it's easier online. V is a good name. It reminds me of Taehyung.
Nice to meet you! It took me a while to be open about being autistic too, but I find that it helps in online spaces where tone can be harder to read. It also helps that I don't go by my real name online, so I feel comfortable sharing personal information haha. I find online conversations easier, since you can find people with common interests to talk about
I agree that finding 'themed' communities makes talking with folks much easier (I'm also autistic). I've been into BJDs for about five years now. I was never into human dolls as a kid but I love miniatures and the tiny intricate clothes, and also the engineering / artistry of doll design. I'm not crafty myself but I love following talented doll artists. :3
Hello and welcome! If there's anything we can do for you or questions we can answer, please feel free to ask! My inbox is always open.
You already sound so cool omg ;-; I love that you’re a makeup artist, that’s my PASSION! But not sure what school I want to attend. Waiting for my 1 year old to go to pre-k before I consider school. Also, I have BPD, and my ex is on the spectrum, so I have some knowledge about it! My sister also thinks she’s on the spectrum ~ it’s nice to meet you and welcome to the community!
Hi and welcome!! I hope you enjoy it here. I’m also a Rainbow/Shadow high collector along with my bjds. The clothing is so detailed!
Yay for autism times! I have that sweet autism/ADHD combo myself.I imagine there are a few of us here, special interests with multiple facets and details seems to attract us
Hello and welcome! BJDs are a great thing to hyper fixate on I found. Lot of really helpful people on here too! My favorite Sanrio is Adorozatorumary and Beatcats. But before them it was Kuromi.
