New Mini sized girl... ARTISTS PROOF~Photos! (update: 2/03

    1. Well, as I have promised myself ... I am working on my new mini girl for 2009. I am trying to get her done as soon as possible, so I can get her into production but I have a few commission projects that have to get done first! So, in between I work on my little girl here, and so far I am very happy with her.

      She'll be standard 40 cm size with probably a 13 yo body. Oh, that will be a new venture, but I will post pics as I go along~ I do love a challenge!...

    6. I worked on her head a little, but started her body now. I used just a foil armature and put the clay over the top. Not sure exactly what I am doing... but I will figure it out as I go along! :-) I found a drawing in the Yoshida style book, and enlarged it to exactly the height I will be making my girl which is 40 cm, so I am kinda using that as a guide to check my proportions. I drew on with red how I want the joints

      Here is what I have so far....mind you, it's very rough, but I will keep taking pictures and posting them for you to see. I'll also put them on my web site.

      I will post more pics tonight...I have some time today to work on her. I need to get her done ASAP so I can get at least 1 prototype back for the IDEX show in Orlando.

      I like the name "Annabelle" but then someone suggested "Anya" and I really like that too...so now I don't know!:?

      Oh well, guess I should stop worrying about her name and just get her done! LOL

    14. ooh i figured it out. yo stands for year old. haha. I was thinking Yo-SD . . . and SD13. so I was trying to figure out how you could possibly combine the two! haha. she looks really cute! I hope for your next project you'd consider a slim/mature mini in the Unoa size category. that's my favorite size :)

      I cannot get away from faces that look like imps, faeries, or elves... as much as I try to sculpt "beautiful", my faces always look like they are from fairy land! LOL People tell me not to fight my style... so I am just going to embrace it!

And I am thinking I can put her head on my MSD volks body, that is similar to what I am sculpting and REALLY play dress up with her and take some fun pics... just to see what she'll look like. I'm not a very patient person! LOL

    23. If you are still working on refining her, her face is a bit symmetrical. One eye is higher than the other (and the nostril on that side is higher and wider as well). Otherwise, I look forward to seeing more of her.

      I will see what I can do to fix that. I can probably fix her nose, but at this point I may have to leave her eyes as is... symmetry...that's the hardest part for me of sculpting!

    27. I use prosculpt, or for larger dolls I use cernit. Prosculpt gives more of a porcelain/opaque look.

      Honestly, I am not sure....I will probably extract the aluminum core and drill the arm pieces to hollow it out for stringing. I've never actually done an entire BJD body, so I am kind of making it up as I go along!

    38. I'm a beginner with bjd but i have made some fairies in prosculpt, it' s a very different work!
      Anyway i asked for this because i have made some experiments before staring with my first bjd (she is under construction now....) and i found that it's possible to use the styrofoam for the core wrapped first with cellophane film and then with a first layer of polymer clay. If you use the heat gun to hardening the clay, styrofoam doesn't burn!! And it will be removed at last with some drops of pure acetone to cure the clay in the oven.
      I hope you understand wath i mean ...my english is horrible!!!

      I will have to check out the little girl from Narnia~ I can't wait to get the resin prototype back... then the REAL fun begins by dressing her up in different outfits and wigs and taking pictures!

    47. I just finally watched Narnia this weekend, and I couldn't belive the resemblence to Lucy! I'll have to do one with a straight little brown bob with a bow at the side. How cute!!!

      Should be hearing back soon on when my resin people can get the prototype to me!!! Whooo Hoooo!

    52. No new pics yet, but I just found out from my resin people that I will have a prototype by January 17th! So, I will get her face up done and dressed then. Hopefully I will be able to start pre-orders at that time. I will be taking her to IDEX with me.

      I decided that she will be a limited edition of 100. Can't wait to get her back here to show you!!!!

    57. We are getting there! Here is the final grey model. I had to resculpt the body a bit to accomodate the joints and I may still revise the bottom of the torso but I will wait and see when I get the first resin prototype.

      I still hope to have the prototype the middle of Jan. I can't wait to dress and paint her!
