Nov 23, 2016

    1. hi everyone,
      Me again...
I did five faceups since the last time i posted. I think i'm improving my skills but still not very good at using pastel and doing lines.

    2. No advice (I can't do faceups myself), but I really like the eyebrows on the last head you did! Great job!

    3. Wow. These look really nice. The last one is spot on it's hard to find any advice to give.

    4. Very lovely work, thank you for sharing!
If you don't feel completely satisfied then my advice is to continue experimenting. If you feel that you are not good with pastels or lines yet, practicing will continue to help you. It's also a good idea to try to do things a little differently each time. This way you may find a technique that fits your style better.
If you feel frustrated with your ease of using the materials you can try to use slightly different materials to see if they work better for you. You can try a new brand of pastel, paint, or sealant and see if there's a positive effect in your work. You will know you are making progress when it begins to feel easier and more natural.
I hope you have fun! :kitty2

    5. I got good advise for situation, where one is not happy with finished product, but there is not big flaws: do it differently - meaning if you normally do only realistic face ups, try some stylished look next, if you use hours and hours on it try next be quick and so on. I found it helpful, as I tend to rush my face ups, and doing it differently means taking my time with it (which translates: I concentrate more on doing the face up).

Anyway, you face ups look really good. Upper one's eyelashes look bit funny (too uniform for my taste), but as you have fixed/done it differently in lower one, you clearly are either done them on purpose or practicing on making them better. ^^ Either way is good - as if you have done it on purpose it means that even if I don't find it looking that good, it's something you wanted to do for the doll.

      Keep going!

    6. I think they're all lovely, especially the last 2 - And you've done a great job on all of them with that hardest of things - eyebrows! I dread doing eyebrows :sweat

    7. thanks!=D I will consider about change materials... I think I just have some problems with the cheek colouring, I cant make it really smooth so i always rub them off and that sometimes damage the sealant:doh

Thank you~ I was just trying different eyebows so the early ones looks strange..
I think the main problem for me is that those eyelash and eyebrows are not even, and i'm bad at colouring large areas like the cheek. I will try other styles once i'm happy with my faceups <3

Thank you! It take me sooooo long time to practice eyebrows and i'm not entirely happy with them at the moment, i think i need to try different ways to draw eyebrows and eyelashes...:3nodding:

    8. @Iwachan to make the cheek color smooth looking I always use very little pastel color and blend before applying more color. If I use too much color at once it's much harder to blend. The brush you use can also make a big difference. I apply color gently with a small brush and then use a bigger, softer brush to blend. If you rub the sealant off blending I advise you try to work in more layers.

    9. The eyebrows on all of these faces are excellent -- so kudos to you because I hear those are the hardest part for most people. Looking at what makes the eyebrows so successful I think will help your difficulty with lines, especially the eyeliner. If you watch makeup tutorial for real people, you'll notice that unless they're doing winged liner, they tend to make the lines have a softer edge than what you have here. A softer edge looks more natural and it's great at hiding imperfections of the line. Hope that helps!

    10. @Iwachan how do you do that lip gradient in the 1st and 4th picture?

    11. well i just draw line with black paint and draw the lip colour with pastel for about two layers......?

    12. ah i mixed up the pictures! i'm referring to the one with sleepy eyes and elf ears because the lips look so soft n cute and i want to achieve that in my next face up.

    13. #1's eyeliner line looks a little shaky, #2's mouth area looks a little light in color, but #3-5 Looks Good!! I especially like #4!

    14. It's really good! :D The eyebrows are excellent, I see a lot of people struggle with those so good job, keep it up! The lines that make the eye crease needs a bit more practice as you mentioned, but I can see you are getting there. The only thing I really want to say is that you should avoid using black or really dark brown for the eye crease, because this makes it look unnatural. This is especially prominent in the first picture but also the third. Try to use softer colors the next time, but other than that, great job!

    15. Thanks!:) I'm trying to improve in every face up~ I really like the fourth one as well!(=
Well I just use the normal technique to do that one. I think I used black paint to draw the line and use red pastel to draw the lips for two times. The first time I apply only a little of pastel onto his lip and rub some colour off, and for the second time I just have the red pastel on his inner(middle?) part of the lips...... I think that'a it? Sorry if I didn't describe it clearly_(:3」

Thanks for your advises, I'll try next time!;)

    16. Wow that looks very nice. I love the smooth touch on the eyebrows and lips. Great Job.
I agree with my previous speaker the black for the eye crease looks a little bit unnatual, but It´s a very great work from you. :cheer
