Aesthetics New Faceup and Attempt at Eyelashes

Aug 4, 2016

    1. So after a month of holiday I finally had a chance to get back to face up work.. This time I tried to use some gloves and tried being a bit more patient with the process. And tried my hand at adding eyelashes.

Any ideas on how to improve? And are there suggestions for some good pastels with a nice ranger of colours? My current one is sadly very limited.

    2. This is lovely! I really love the lips, what a beautiful colour and the detail is also great. The placement of her eyebrows and the blush around her eyes is lovely.
My tip is to really sharpen your pencils to a fine point. The "grainy" texture in the brows and eyelashes is happening because the pencil is slightly blunt. Also press as gently as you can for the eyelashes, and go slow first! Build up colour with multiple strokes, rather than one heavier one.
Supplies vary on where you are, but I often go into my local art store and get whatever brand of chalk pastel they have there. This way I can get the colours I need exactly. I was given a larger set of pastels years ago, so I just use this to expand on my skin tones/get specific tones :)

    3. That's really beautiful, and to reiterate what's already been said, sharpen those pencils! Also I find waiting at least an hour between coats of Msc helps too

    4. I think the eyelashes you glued on are a little uneven lengths and maybe a little on the long side?

But that's me trying to find something to critique and being really nit picky. This is a really beautiful face up and I love all the pink tones! ^^

    5. @Ecmm Ah thank you for the tip! Though I've recently lost my sharpener so I've just been sharpening it with sandpaper OTL

@Antimonia Oh gosh! A whole hour? :0 I might try that next time too- thank you <3

@Monaudious Thank you! I was thinking the same thing actually- I'm actually too scared to cut it more in case I ruin it QnQ

    6. I like the lips and shadows but I think you still have to practice a little bit more with eyebrows and don't worry this is the hardest part in dolls painting (in my opinion)
Mayby try first to give the eyebrows shape with pastels , at this point you can eddit tham how many times you want, than seal tham with MSC and add details :) try to observe how eyebrows hair can grow.
