Aesthetics New face Up

May 1, 2020

    1. Hello DoA!
      I just gave my doll a new face up, but I had a bunch of hiccups during the process, and I'm not too sure how I feel about it, so I'm here to ask for critique and advice to help me decide.
      It's only my 15th face up though, so please don't be too harsh XD I only have half a can of my sealant left and with the quarrantine, I don't know when I'll be getting more, so I am a bit reluctant to redo the face up so soon ^^;

    2. I'm sure you'll get varying opinions on this, but here's my advice:

      I think it looks great, overall, especially the eyes, but the eyebrows and lips look "unfinished" to me. Not like there's anything wrong with them, but like they need some more detail. Especially since you're low on sealant, why not add on a bit more detail to the eyebrows and lips on top of what you've done already? If you've already sealed this faceup as it is in the pictures, you can always wipe off any additional details you add if you don't like them.

      If skin texturing is your jam, you could add some of that while you're at it on the eyebrows and lips, but I know not everyone likes to add obvious freckling or contouring, and it's totally not necessary if it's not something you're into.

      I wouldn't wipe it off and start over unless you really don't like this faceup for some reason. It's not a bad faceup at all, I just think it could use another layer.

    3. Pretty!! Good work! Keep it up :thumbup <3

    4. i agree that another layer could go a long way if you're not keen on wiping it! just a little more detail or shading in the eyebrows and eyelashes and maybe a little more blushing. overall, i love the frosty look her lips and eyeshadow have! keep up the good work!

    5. Thank you for all the advice :D the brows and lips are some of my biggest issues with this face up, the latter I had barely fixed to not look like a 5 year old got their hands on lip gloss lol:lol:. The problem with the former is a lot more involved :| although I prefer a more anime style aesthetic, I'd still like to practice skin texturing sometime, so if you have a reference/tutorial I would be much appreciated :thumbup

      Thank you very much<3

      Thank you for the suggestions :) this was the 1st time I had gotten the eyelashes as fine as this, so I think I forgot about the shading by being afraid of messing it up, I definitely have to remember next time:XD: I added some iridescent powder to gloss for the eyeshadow and lips, but I had to go over the lips with a matt varnish as it looked like 5 year old got their hands on some lip gloss :lol: and my lip lines dissapeared :doh

    6. I actually like the lips. You could certainly add the lines back if you wanted to, but I don't think they are necessary.

      I would say that some areas of the white paint look too thick, mainly the eyebrow hairs and the lid creases. You have these gorgeous, fine lower lashes, and the brow hairs and creases are so heavy by comparison. I think you can still have bushy brows if that's the look you want, just make the hairs themselves thinner.

    7. Thank you ^^ I definitely need more practice on the eyelid lines, the brows on the other hand, is one of the places the faceup has the most issues...
