Let's start a new game of Never Have I Ever, since the last one died almost a year ago. Here's how it works: The first person will post a thing they have never done with their BJDs. It can be generic, oddly specific, or anywhere in between! The next person will respond by sharing whether they have done the first person's thing (story time if yes, gotta share details!) and then post their own Never Have I Ever. I'll start: Never Have I Ever... attempted a faceup on a doll. Have you?
I’ve done a face-up on a closed eye Sooah. No eyelashes though since I didn't own those. Never have I ever applied eyelashes to a doll.
Pretty much everyone in my crew has eyelashes. It feels weird for any of them to not have eyelashes. Never have I ever.....had a doll that wears frilly, girly, pink clothing.
It wasn't what I'd planned, but Aurelie had other ideas. At least she's steampunk in addition to liking things pink and frilly. Never have I ever removed a faceup from a doll just to make it more in line with my character.
Never never never. I am pretty content with their current face-ups. However, I do expect to be wiping the face-up for my incoming doll a lot since I have a very specific look in mind for her and I want to try doing it myself. Never have I ever purchased a full set doll.
I have never purchased a full set doll. I really like making my own clothes but I would still like to some day. Never have I ever owned a non-human doll.
I do have an anthro cat girl doll, but I'm thinking of parting with her to either invest in some of my crew's wardrobe, or get a fully cat bjd. Never have I ever...had the desire to order any of Fairyland's Chloe sculpts. (Nothing against any of them—they're just not my style)
Fairyland in general isn't quite my style, although there are some pretty dolls among them. Never have I ever modded a doll's head
I haven't really modded either, if you think of carving og adding to the face to make it appear different. I have, though, scraped resin off on the inside of the magnet hole on my pukifee, because the magnet hole was too small. And glued on piercings. Never have I ever restrung a doll, and I live in fear of the day when I will have to.
I've strung/restrung all my dolls I didn't think that it was that bad. Had to restring Hazuki to add S-hooks to her hands. Asher came unstrung so had to string him (first time with a real stringing tool). I took Jewel and Ruby (Sakura & Paper Bunny) apart to spray their whole bodies with MSC. The only one I'm scared to restring is Ruby because its so tiny. To this day she is still in pieces Never have I ever done (or commissioned) body blushing.
never a full body blushing. Closest I've come was giving a doll a tattoo on their chest (done by me, very badly ) there isn't much point for my dolls because it would always be hidden under all their clothes Never have I ever photographed a doll in water.
Never, but I think I'd be fun to try one day. All the photos I've seen of dolls in water are very pretty Never have I ever made a doll wig from scratch.
Oh this seems fun! ♥️ I have never attempted to make a wig from nothing, I'm definitely more of the commissioning type, although I'd enjoy at least attempting to make one myself. Never have I ever - send a doll head to a face up artist.
Neither have I. I plan to do a lot of them myself, but so far have only done a few (clearly amatuer ones). Never have I ever ordered a doll in grey resin.
Never. I'm personally more of a fan of warmer skin tones so I don't see grey ever happening in my collection. Never have I ever made jewelry for BJDs.
I’ve made a necklace and am currently working on bracelets for my mermaid. Never have I ever ordered a blank doll before.
I only ever order blank dolls. Company face-ups do not appeal to me at all. Not that I am better at making face-ups myself, but it's part of my process to bond with my dolls. Never have I ever ordered a centaur-type doll before.
Never! I've only ever had fully human dolls Never have I ever owned a doll with jointed hands (but I would love to!)
Funny story, I just received a pair of jointed hands yesterday. Need to get on blushing them. They're so delicate looking that I'm worried I'll break them if I mess with them too much. Never have I ever... Made a diorama for my dolls. Planning to, but haven't managed it yet.
Breaking off a finger or any part sounds like a nightmare! I'm glad it hasn't happened and hope it never happens to my dolls. Never have I ever strung or restrung a doll before.
My first (and fave) doll came strung with her large bust and I immediately unstrung her to put on the small bust ...and strung her arms on backwards! I cried and went to bed and re-re-strung her the next day. I’ve restrung too many to count now but I’m still too chicken to build and string my Unoa Light Fluorite kit! So ‘never have I ever’ built a kit doll...yet! Unoa Light Fluorite kit by ÆON & ENIGMA, on Flickr
I've never even owned a kit doll—much less tried restringing one (I have done several partial and full restrings, though.> Never have I ever...thought about getting any variation of Fairyland's Chloe sculpts.
Well yes, I've never thought about getting any variation of FL's Chloe sculpts since I personally don't think that a Fairland doll would ever fit into my collection. There's just something about their sculpts that doesn't appeal to me although I greatly enjoy seeing unboxings of their full sets! Never have I ever gone over my doll budget.
Can't go over the doll budget if you never make one to begin with. On the upside, I've maxed out my space at 8, and the ones I'd want to splurge on are weird sizes so impulse buys are shot down pretty quickly. Never have I ever... taken a doll to a theme park (though I've really wanted to for photo ops).
I have! I have photos of Leon at a restuarnt in City Walk by Universal Studios, Florida. Though he stayed in my purse the entire time we were in the park, so I'm not sure that counts? Never have I ever owned a mermaid doll.
I have a mermaid-themed doll, whose character is part-mermaid/siren, but she doesn't have a fish tail, just regular human legs...so I've never owned a mermaid doll either. Never have I ever sold a whole doll!
Just stumbled on this thread after packaging up a doll to go to a new home! I've bought and sold plenty as my taste evolves over the years, though I've got an ever growing collection of those who I could never post for sale Never have I ever attempted a doll restoration project. But I am always in awe of the threads I've seen complete with sanding, dyeing, restringing, etc!
It wasn't really a full restoration project, but twice now I have bought old B&G bodies and sanded them all over to get rid of the shine and the yellowing I'm saying this now because soon it won't be true anymore- Never have I ever owned a sleeping head.
I own a Sleeping Sooah (Reminisce ver.). She was my second doll head as well as my first and only attempt at a face-up. Never have I ever removed a face-up!
I have! Many many many times while practicing my own! I gave up after about two years but the memories (and the smell of acetone) are fresh in my mind. Never Have I Ever bought the entire cast of a story in doll form....(yet)
I have never bought the entire cast of a story in doll form but I am am currently working on buying the entire cast of my own story. Just need to find a dark tan Supiadoll Lana (hint hint) and a few others. I have never photographed all my dolls together at once.
Oh I have- I try to take a photo of all of my dolls together once a year or so, to see how the collection grows >__< In the latest snap of them all together, Happy- my Blythe decided to join^^ Never have I ever owned a doll with red hair ...
I do! Currently two of my dolls are red heads, and my Bluefairy will be a red head too when she arrives. Never have I ever owned a SD.
I haven't ever owned an SD either! I have an SD17-sized doll preordered, but it'll be a while before he gets here, so just MSDs at the moment. Never have I ever pre-ordered a fullset doll!
I haven’t done that either! But I have bought a fullset secondhand (my Lolita Soony) Never have I ever owned a doll smaller than MSD
I have! I have owned dolls of all sizes, I don't currently still have any MSD or smaller dolls. But I did in the past. Never have I ever (personally) broken anything on my dolls. (To emphasize, I have been recently been BUYING broken dolls to fix) but I PERSONALLY have never broken anything.
I have (kindda). I bought an iplehouse KID Lonnie 2nd hand, and the absolute first thing that happens when I took off her headcap was that one of the little resinpegs broke off. I don't know if it happened in transit or what, but it just fell right off and landed in my hand. :/ Never have I ever done manicure or pedicure on my dolls. Meaning I have not blushed hands or painted nails on any of my dolls.
Never! But I’d want to try. Especially want to give a manicure to my newest doll Never have I ever purchased new elastic for a doll.
I actually just did that last week in order to do a partial restring of my Fairyline boy's fantasy parts. He was strung so perfectly/tight that I had to snip the old elastic to get him apart to customize and I'm not entirely sure if I'm going to be able to get him back together again once he's fully painted aaaaa ;; Never have I ever... Owned a doll with a removable mouth plate.
I have not. And I’m not planning to - haven’t heard of this before actually! never have I ever... spent over $500 on a single doll (not including outfit/fullsets)
I'm actually in the middle of a wig project right now! I gave up buying wigs a few years ago; I make all my wigs now. Never have I ever owned a fullset doll that came painted and wigged and dressed and the whole nine.
Never. Too expensive for my taste! Never have I ever bought a doll to make into an existing popular character (anime character, game character etc)
I have! But when I got them they had other ideas... All 5 have turned from anime characters into new OCs of my own. Never have I ever bought a doll to shell a pre-existing OC.
I have not done that but have thought about it. Never have I ever paid for a doll fully up front. Only layaway
I normally always pay in full. Tried layaway once but usually prefer to wait longer and pay things off all at once. That being said, two of my dolls were ordered in pieces (heads first and bodies later). But no real reason other than them being available second hand. Never have I ever owned a MSD or 1/4th scale doll.
All of my dolls except one are this size, oops. It was my go-to originally because my roomie brought me into this with one and I wanted everyone to be in scale with each other, but then a 1/3 guy happened and I love him so much that uh... there might be more. Never have I ever owned an anime style doll (though I'd like to try that style of faceup on a new head I've acquired).
I have Used to also live between two houses hehe. Never have I ever done a BJD photo-shoot in the snow.
Neither have I. I was sorely tempted last winter when I was finally in a place with a decent amount though. Maybe this winter. Never have I ever bought a doll off of Instagram.
I bought my Migidoll Yujin head and Elfdoll Sooah head off instagram haha. Feels like I was pretty trusting of second hand sellers when I started out in this hobby. Looking back, I am really glad that both sellers were good to me Never have I ever owned a Ringdoll BJD.
I've never owned a Ringdoll BJD! (I have a grand total of 2: not a lot to choose from lol) Never have I ever owned a doll bigger than Yo-SD sized
I just ordered my first today. It'll be a few months until I know if the size works for me! Never have I ever dyed a doll.
I've tried dyeing dolls twice-- both times it came out a terrible, streaky mess. Definitely not my doll customizing strong suit... Never have I ever owned a Volks doll. (Or even seen one in person, for that matter!)
Neither have I actually, they aren't quite my style. Never have I ever sent a doll off to another artist for a face up.
I have never sent a doll off to an artist for a faceup, but I reaaaaally want to commission seven_venture @ insta for a custom Giorno or Bruno (JJBA) doll... Never have I ever done boudoir photography with dolls!
Me either, and I don't see it ever happening. Not my scene. Never have I ever owned any one-third scale doll furniture (though I totally want to!)
