Neil Gaiman’s ‘The Sandman’ (on Netflix)

Aug 9, 2022

    1. It’s no lie when I say I’ve waited years for this, decades even, and I’m loving it. As a fan of the graphic novels that it is based on they’ve done well to bring something originally started it the late 1980s up to date without losing too much. Morpheus/Dream of the Endless is pretty much perfect!

I can also imagine this show is going to inspire a great many to make BJD versions of the characters. If I had the room I daresay I would be frantically searching for a sculpt that looks like the King of Dreams but right now I don’t so I shall just have to admire the dolls of those who do.

    2. I haven't read the comics, but I know a little bit about them and have been enjoying the show so far!

    3. I first got into the Sandman series from the Audible dramatization. I really like the storyline and all the small side stories! I am enjoying the Netflix variation too~

    4. Sadly and weirdly I never read the comic however I'm really enjoying the adaptation. The thing bothering me most is that the lead actor has such a weirdly large head or maybe it's a trick of the camera or his hairstyle but I must say if he were a hybrid doll I would not be happy with the situation.:XD: since that's my biggest complaint i have to say, it's been awesome. I might go back and read it at last... Maybe.

    5. @AlisonVonderland haha I did notice that too but I think it helps give him more of an otherworldly appearance. The graphic novels had quite a variety of artists so his body shape did vary (as did the general unruliness of his spiked and overall 1980s ‘Goth’ look) but most gave him a sort of sinewy build.

Still no word of whether a second season will be picked up by Netflix, bloody hope it does!

    6. I was incredibly entertained when I went to BJDC, and brought my Leander (Impldoll Joshua) along. Several people stopped me and told me that (I'm assuming due to his wig) he reminded them of Morpheus. I'm loving the series so far (I'm about halfway through) but I think Leander was offended that people think his head is that big xD

    7. I just finished the show the other night and really enjoyed it!! I'm glad the artistic direction is a lot like the comics. It was very visually pleasing to watch!! I also think the actor they got for Dream was perfect!
