Negative Feedback for Ricky Doll

    1. I preordered a Helios head from Ricky during the first week of February and was under the impression that it would be shipped in about 60 days.

      When the first shipping deadline approached... well, nothing happened. Eventually Ricky posted a message saying that shipping would be delayed until May. I was irritated but I waited patiently.

      May came and went and I heard ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from Ricky. Eventually, on May 30, Ricky posted a message stating that shipping would begin on June 8.

      June 8 passed and again I had heard nothing, and I was very frustrated, so on June 16 I sent Ricky an email asking for a refund. I got this response:

      Please note that shipping has now been delayed three times.

      Unsurprisingly, June 22 came and went and again I hadn't seen a doll head yet, so on June 26 I sent another email, this time demanding that my payment be refunded immediately. I got this response:

      Interestingly, I ordered on the second or third day of the preorder, so I'm not sure why I'm not toward the beginning of the "order list". I also filed a paypal claim at this point but since it had been way more than 45 days it was closed immediately and I got nothing.

      Last week, on July 3, I got this email from Ricky:

      At this point I know NO ONE who has gotten their head from this order, and I'm not sure Ricky has shipped any heads at all. Certainly this is now five times that Ricky has been "almost ready" to ship my doll only to delay further. Tomorrow I'm going to file a claim with my bank to try to get my money back, because I don't think I'm ever going to see the head and I don't even WANT the head anymore -- I want my $270 back. If I had known it would take over five months I'd never have ordered it.

      The entire experience has been horrible. Up until the July 3 email the only time I have had any contact from Ricky was when I emailed to ask for refunds or threaten to file a claim with my bank.

      I strongly discourage anyone from ordering from Ricky. While the dolls are lovely the likelihood is you won't see them for months if ever, and Ricky will not do you the courtesy of letting you know your order is delayed unless you threaten.
       
    2. I too am in the same ordering group and have to recieved my head. I wont post my emails as they are word for word duplicates of chibaraki's. I also feel that ordering from Ricky is not a wise idea, IF you get your head it will be after way too much time has passed and many unpleasant emails.

    4. Ricky has emailed me asking me to reconsider my dispute and wait longer for my head to ship. Obviously I'm not willing to wait any longer. All I want is a refund.
       
    5. I had assumed that the "wait your turn" phrase was a translation issue. My major problem with it is that I've been being asked to wait since May and it is now the middle of July. I've been patient for 2 1/2 months now, and I'm finished being patient. I'll only be satisfied with a refund, and since nobody's dolls have shipped yet it should be easy enough to refund me.
       
    6. Myself and toshirodragon recieved an email from Ricky yesterday saying that she would refund us and to wait until she does:

      I got the email about reconsidering the dispute as well aand I sent her back an email saying that I wasn't happy with her lack of communication, her service thus far and I didn't want the head I ordered anymore since if I did get him, all I'd do would be to resell him. So I asked for a refund and this is apparently the response for those of us who just did not want to go through with getting a doll we no longer wanted anymore.

      I am hoping that she refunds the full amount promptly because if I have to wait another two months for it to get to me, I will not be happy. In addition there's an update on Ricky's site stating that all the dolls from the orders have now been shipped:

       
    7. I got another email from Ricky this morning:

      Unfortunately the dispute I filed was automatically closed by Paypal so there's not actually anything I can do about it as far as I can tell, but it does sound like Ricky is at least attempting to issue refunds. I wait in hope.
       
    8. I received that email today as well. I know my dispute was automatically closed as well.
       
    9. I'm currently trying to work with both Ricky and Paypal to try to get things to a point where people can get refunds. Looks like the rest of the people involved got the same email I did. We'll see what I hear from Paypal -- there must be something in place to resolve this, or this is going to change to a bad transaction with PAYPAL.

    11. I just received this email from Paypal:

      So what now? Since Ricky has said her account is closed until "we" declare to them that we're satisfied?
       
    12. Ricky hasn't closed her account, Paypal has closed or frozen it for her.
       
    13. My concern is that I don't know that any of the cases are actually open. By the time people got around to filing disputes it had been more than 45 days, so they were closed automatically. So I'm not sure what's actually going on there.

      In any case I'll contact Ricky again and see if she's communicated directly with Paypal.
       
    14. I sent an email to paypal with my dispute numbers (that were automatically closed as well) and asked them to remove my disputes against her so she could send me my refund. At this point I don't know what I can really do as for me to call paypal it's an international phonecall. They haven't been at all helpful on my side of things either. I also haven't heard back from paypal after I sent that message.

      God I just want my refund. I don't know how we'll get it when we can't 'close' the cases.

      As for all the people jumping to conclusions that weren't involved, please stop. It's entirely uncalled for.
       
    15. Well, I got a promising-looking email from Paypal yesterday:

      So hopefully Ricky can refund us now? Maybe? Possibly? I've forwarded the message to Ricky, so we'll see.

    18. I got this from Ricky today and I emailed back saying I'd tried to talk to paypal and they said it had to be done on her end, so she would have to talk to them herself. Speaking of paypal, they emailed me twice today and they were both USELESS repeats of the SAME THING. They didn't even READ what I wrote AT ALL (because the second was a response to my reply to their first one in which I stated I understood what they wrote but her funds needed to be unfrozen for her to refund us and they DID NOT READ IT) - I'm fast starting to think the paypal customer service staff are useless.

      I sent them a very ranty email about them not even reading what I said and told them I HAD spoken to the seller and come to a resolution and that they needed to unfreeze her account for it to happen. I hope they get the message this time. D:


      Anyway after that I got this back from Ricky after emailing her that she needed to contact them too:

      Honestly, paypal are the ones who are starting to jerk us all around now I think :/
       
    19. Agreed. Both times I've emailed them I've gotten back form letters, telling me to work it out with the seller. The second one said the selller had to contact Paypal before anything could happen, which it sounds like Ricky is trying to do. Jeez....
       
    20. The email I got back from Paypal was moderately helpful. It sounds as if they're working things out. Not sure what it is that makes it so I get helpful responses and no one else does, but thus far they've been helpful and informative when I've contacted them.

      If they're not being helpful via email, calling them on the phone might be more useful. Do they have contact numbers outside the US, even?
       
    21. Do we have any updates on the progress of this yet? I haven't heard anything useful back from paypal or Ricky as of yet. What about anyone else?
       
    22. I haven't heard from Paypal since the email I got on the 26th, but I didn't expect to. I forwarded the email I got from them to Ricky, who responded to the effect that she was trying to work things out with Paypal.

      If I don't hear from Ricky with an update early next week I'll email and ask for one.
       
    23. I've been out of computer distance but I didn't see anything in my email. I guess I need to put them on the list of calls to be made this week.
       
    24. I found out there's an Australian call centre. So I'm going to make a call tomorrow morning to see what I can sort out.
       
    25. It's been 2 1/2 weeks since I heard from Ricky. I have neither a refund nor an explanation of why I don't have a refund. I've emailed both Ricky and Paypal requesting an update.

    29. Okay guys!! I called paypal and got something USEFUL out of them!!! I got someone that also spoke ENGLISH this time so it was a lot better! SO. Here is what I found out:

      Ricky can't send us funds BUT PAYPAL can issue us refunds from her paypal balance if she sends them an email authorising them to. So what I did was send Ricky an email telling her EXACTLY what she needed to do to make paypal resolve this (since it was specific and there is no branch in korea that speaks her native language, I simply wrote it for her to paste in). This is what I wrote:

      I will see if this actually allows me to get a refund and I'll post back here and let you guys know so you can do the same thing.

      That February I bought a head from her, that was posted to be shipped about mid April. April came and went no doll, I sent her an email in May and she said there were delays but it would ship shortly. Again in June I emailed her and again she sent me the exact same letter down to the typos.

      Early in July, three of us in the waiting room became impatient and started demanding refunds. We opened disputes with Paypal, all of which were closed immediately. We were told to wait the dolls were coming. And she DID ship out the dolls, except to the three of us wanting refunds.

      I recieved and email saying she'd refund us. A few days later I recieved another email saying she couldn't refund us because Paypal had frozen her account and I needed to contact Paypal. Which I did, and I believe the other two did as well. Paypal, of course, told me that Ricky would have to contact them.

      At least a month ago, I emailed Ricky and offered to take a head in lieu of a refund, apologizing for causing her trouble. Also about a month ago, gridbug emailed Ricky with instruction on how to refund us our money. I have not heard from her and to my knowledge either has gridbug.

      It has been two months since she offered to refund us our money and still nothing.
       
    33. Did you purchase the head via DoA? Through a thread in the Marketplace?
       
    34. I did not, which is why I wasn't certain I could page her.
       
    35. It's possibly worth mentioning that I ordered from Ricky as a direct result of her advertising her preorder on DOA.

      That said, I haven't heard anything either. I emailed Ricky asking her again to refund me and suggested that she do it via bank transfer if necessary. She has now had $270 of my money for over 7 months, which is totally unacceptable. I've been waiting two months for a refund. The worst part is that she KNOWS how to refund our payments but chooses not to.

      I can't even express how disappointed and disgusted I am with Ricky's conduct in this transaction. She's shown no consideration for her customers at any point.
       
    36. Thank you, chibaraki, for stating that information! So, what's known now is that the three of you have not received your purchases nor refunds? The last time Ricky was on DoA was 25JUL. But she has since contacted at least one of you via email. Please feel free to keep this thread updated! The mods will discuss.

      Sigh Frankly I'm thinking she's NOT understanding what Paypal wants her to do.
       
    38. I got the same email. Possibly she emailed all of us in response to me emailing her.

      Ricky is actually fairly prompt about responding to emails. Unfortunately all of her responses boil down to the same thing: She can't refund us.
       
    39. I'm thinking a chargeback is the only way any of us will see any money. Let the bank go after Paypal and Paypal go after Ricky...
       
    40. All right, I've just emailed Ricky and asked her to send me the money via Western Union. The WU site is in KOREAN which means she'll understand what to do to send the money to me from one of her local agents. There's no excuse for her not to agree to solving it this way, so I'm going to see what she says to it.
       
    41. When I asked her to send my refund via bank transfer she claimed it wasn't possible because she didn't have an American bank account. Which is news to me, since I can send money to Korean bank accounts from my American bank so I'm not sure why the reverse wouldn't work.

    42. Well nearly ALL the Western Union locations in Korea are at Korean Banks. This is why I asked her to send me my money that way. There will be absolutely no excuse for her not to send me my money because it's easily accessible where she is, it's in her language and all she has to do is fill out a form.

      If she doesn't agree to it, then I'll talk to my bank. There is seriously no way she should be able to say no. I'll be taking further action if she tries to refuse to send me my money.

      Okay time to call my credit card company, I'm done with this stupidity.
       
    45. As of now Ricky has had $270 of my money for eight months. I emailed to ask her WHY she won't use Western Union.
       
    46. I emailed her and said there was no reason for her not to use it. HELL I even said she could use PART OF THE MONEY SHE OWED ME to cover the fees so she wouldn't have to be out of pocket because I just want it back. I got this as a reply:

      She said she was trying to open another paypal account. I said she should make an exception and use western union to sort this out because there's no reason why she shouldn't be able to transfer the funds that way when paypal wasn't an option. I said I'd been waiting long enough for a refund and that I didn't particularly want to wait another month for her to do whatever she's doing.

      That being said, we're apparently waiting for another shipping period??? What the hell.
       
    47. I asked why she wouldn't use Western Union and got this:

      You know, I think we're well beyond the point where Ricky gets to pick and choose the refund method. If I'd ever gotten the doll head I'd have sold it by now because I actually kind of need the money. $270 is not small change, here.

      I'm not envisioning a long career in this business for her.

One of my friends noticed that Ricky currently has several of her dolls listed on Yahoo!Japan and has in fact been continuing to sell on Y!J the entire time we've been having problems with her. Funny how she is perfectly able to accept payments from those people, but it is simply IMPOSSIBLE for her to refund any of us.
       
    50. It's been the four weeks she requested. I just sent her another email asking her to transfer me the money. If she makes another excuse, I'll bring this point up with her about receiving payments for her auctions.
       
    51. Have you heard anything back? I emailed her a few days ago and haven't gotten a response.
       
    52. Well, it's been five days since I emailed Ricky and I haven't gotten any answer. I sort of feel like I'm out of choices. I'm going to call my bank and see if there's anything they can do (last time they claimed they couldn't since I authorized the charges, but since I authorized them as payment for goods and never received any goods it seems like they should be able to do SOMETHING). I'm also going to file a complaint with the IC3.

      I really have no idea what else I can do, at this point.
       
    53. Okay, I sent Ricky a THIRD email today, since she hasn't responded to the one I sent five days ago or the one I sent ten days ago. She's been posting photos of her dolls on her webpage and posting to her blog, so she has internet access, she just hasn't bothered to respond to my emails.

      In her websie said the doll will shiped within 60 day
      but Ricky made it toooooo lateeeeeeeee for 5 months (or more for other people)

      Ok, at first i understand that doll producing may be has some difficultly on thier way... that is the thing I known in common...
      but, Ricky also has very BAD communication with her customers anything is NOT clear she is NOT going to do anything
      to tell her customer that why she send the dolls late than the shipping period , there is only "SILENT" I got from her.

      And There's NO any notice e-mail or anything to tell her customer til she was complain by customer and asking many
      and many time about shipping the dolls. I asking her for three times or more about my shipping peroid and the email
      she send to me is copy paste same as the other. But during that time she still play game and update her blog but no
      any update about the dolls she is selling, like there's notthing happen and "that" make me soooooooooo worry
      about my doll and also my money!

      And now I'm already received my doll for many months ago( about five months after order period I can't remember it well)
      but I just give her a feedback(sorry about I'm very late for this) and this is why I WILL NOT going to do business with Rickydoll again
      because she's lacking of the good communication and also responsibility to her customer.

    55. I ACTUALLY GOT A RESPONSE FROM RICKY TODAY FROM AN EMAIL I SENT HER! Okay, apparently her account is limited til the 16/01/10... so she asked me to wait 2 days. Hopefully, I'll be emailing/hearing from her then. I'm not COUNTING on it, but I will be doing a check with paypal later today to see if that is the case or I can confirm this in any way.

      I was just thinking the other day that we had to be right up against her Paypal reactivating, it's been so ridiculously long.

I didn't say anything of the sort that you did, but I said if she can't pay me, I'd at least like compensation with a doll head that I was meant to get, or some other doll head she has made in the time I've been waiting. I said that I'd waited over and above what she asked me to last time and didn't hassle her at all during that time, so I'd like it if she got back to me.

      I'm hoping that THIS time we actually get somewhere... it's doubtful, but I'm hoping.
