Negative Feedback Negative Feedback for Lanfeardk

Jan 24, 2019

    1. I bought a Luts Model Delf Avalanche head from @Lanfeardk

The sales thread can be viewed here (link)

As you can see the head is listed as "No Damage" and "No Noticeable Yellowing".

At first things went wonderfully. The head was $65 and shipping to me with tracking and insurance was around $50 so she said that $110 total was fine.Communication was great, she gave me a picture of his CoA when I asked, and she let me do a short layaway of $10 down at the start of November, the $50 would be due at the start of December, and the remaining $50 would be due at the start of January.

I let her know that I share a Paypal with my partner (because we share a bank account. They have their own DoA account and are uninvolved in this purchase). I paid the $10 immediately on Nov 1, and on Nov 30th I contacted her again letting her know I could actually pay the full $100 remainder. She said that would be fine so I sent the funds on Dec 1.

She got sick and was unable to ship him out until Dec 8, which was fine. He did not arrive until Dec 23.

Because of the holidays I was unable to deal with unpacking him right away.

I was able to unpack him and get a good look at him on Dec 31 and I found that he was very well packed.

However this is where things went downhill.

I found that he was in fact damaged, even though he had been listed as no damage and no yellowing. He has scratches in one corner of his mouth, a cut on his upper lip, super glue on his upper temple/forehead area, and what I first thought was a discolored smear along his jawline but upon further inspection realized was more super glue. There also appears to be a small amount near his nose. These are all along the left side of his face, so the right hand side when you are looking at him.

The damage is very hard to photograph, and the sales photos do not really show that side of his face clearly.

On Dec 31 I emailed her on DoA pointing out the damage, and at that point I thought the smear on his jaw was just discoloration and not actual glue, so I was asking for just a partial refund.

She had not replied yet by Jan 2 and I had realized that the smear was in face super glue and so would require sanding to remove and be a huge headache. So at this point I wanted a full refund. I gave her the option to either pay back the full $110 to get the head shipped back to her or pay just the $65 cost of the head and have me keep it. Either way I am unable to use it and I did actually end up buying a fresh head thanks to Luts's recent head event. (if I keep the head it will just be used as mod practice)

I thought a response might be delayed because of the holidays, and DoA had said that she had not been online since Dec 26th, so I waited until Jan 15 before opening a Paypal dispute. In the dispute I once again offered her the choice of the full refund and have him sent back, or the partial refund and have me keep the head. She replied to the Paypal dispute right away, saying that I bought it knowing it was secondhand, as if that excused her for saying it was "no damage" when it was. She did not make any sort of counter offer of a lower partial refund and so finally I had to escalate the case and we are now waiting for Paypal to decide what happens. In the escalation you have to choose if you want full or partial refund, I selected just the $65 because at this point I do not trust her not to lie about if she receives the head back or not and I really just want this whole mess over with.

Here are the best photos I could get of the damage. Again they are very difficult to photograph, but are much more apparent in person.

I am not out to get her in trouble with DoA or affect her Marketplace access or anything like that. I just want other potential buyers to know what happened between us, and let them decide for themselves what to do.

After escalating the Paypal dispute, I wanted to let other people know what had happened, I did not know Negative Feedback posts go into the Problem Transactions section of the Marketplace, so I wrote a negative review on her Feedback thread. I do not care what Paypal decides at this point, I just think that when a doll is sold as "No Damage" it should not have damage. If someone sells a damaged doll as "No Damage" then other people should be aware of it.

Here is my review on her feedback
(this was since removed by a Mod for being in the wrong area)

I thought I was being fair by pointing out the positives as well as the negatives, and by saying that "I would not buy from her again" not that no one else should. That still got her very angry and she made a short response on her own Feedback and a longer one on my Feedback.

short (and I had actually made 1 purchase before her, so she is wrong to say she was the first to sell to me)
      long
(these were both since removed by a Mod)

In the long review which she left on my Feedback thread, she outright lies in some areas.

      1. As you can see from the conversation screencaps, she never had to ask me for the funds because I paid my first payment immediately, and the second payment the day before I needed to and in the amount to pay off the layaway a month early.

      2. She claims that I did not contact her on DoA before the Paypal dispute, but as you can see I tried on both Dec 31 and Jan 2, and explained that due to the holidays I had not been able to check him sooner. Before I left a negative review for her DoA still said she had not been on since Dec 26. I am not sure if she checked the tracking herself or not to know that he had arrived on Dec 23 and assumed on the 26th that I had opened him and had been fine with him.

      3. She claims here that the head was not damaged when she sent it out and that she hardly used it. I cant explain why a mail carrier would have opened it up, scratched it, smeared some super glue on it, and closed it back up again. All I can assume is that perhaps she had him long enough that she forgot the damage was there and didn't pay much attention when selling him. It looks like the Luts plate inside his head has been reglued, so perhaps there was a glue accident then and she thought she had wiped it all off? I don't know. All I know is that when I opened the box I found him damaged.

      4. She tries to accuse me of multi accounting because on the Paypal dispute it says "we" the we is because it is a shared Paypal. That is the only reason. My partner has their own account on DoA and has no involvement in this transaction, other than to help give me directions opening the dispute because I have never had to do one before.

      5. I am not "trying to get free stuff". I wanted the undamaged head that was advertised to me during the sale. I offered twice to send the head back if she paid the full amount, but she did not want to do any sort of refund at all. And again in the escalation you have to choose if you want full or partial refund, I selected just the $65 because at this point I do not trust her not to lie about if she receives the head back or not and I really just want this whole mess over with. I already ordered a fresh head from Luts, if this head stays with me it is just going to get used for mod experiments or maybe even experiments on super glue removal.

And then of course she adds that no one should sell to me. Which is frankly uncalled for.

I did make a reply to it that the Mods have since removed that I did not get a chance to screenshot before it was taken down, but it was basically the same things I have said here with links to our conversations and the head damage.

This all could have been avoided if she had simply listed the damage to the head in her sales thread or taken responsibility and given me some sort of refund when confronted with the damage. "No Damage" means No Damage.

Again, I am not trying to get her in trouble or affect her Marketplace access or tell people not to buy from her, I just want people to have the facts of what happened between us so that they can make that choice for themselves.

    2. Adding this on here because I do not want to edit the original message unless the links break or something, so that it cannot be said that I have altered what I said.

I made a mistake saying she accused me of "multi accounting", it should have been she accused me of "account sharing". Sorry if that caused any confusion.

    3. It says a lot about your character that you say someone is mad because you leave a negative review, and I do the same because I had a horrible experience with you. It's reality. But since it seems you are out of it's grasp, I will let Paypal handle things like the professionals they are.

    4. @Lanfeardk
I apologize if my wording was confusing. I do not think you were angry simply because you left negative feedback, but rather the tone and the things you said in your feedback. But I too am quite happy to let Paypal handle things from here.
