NaNoWriMo 2017!

Oct 26, 2017

    1. I've been through that drought, too, @SteamWitch! I've been doing almost nothing for days, but punched past 35K today. I've more or less resigned myself to not winning this year, but now that I'm past what was apparently the hard part to write, I'm going to crank out as much as I can and at least make it a noble failure.

Your collection of short stories sounds like an awesome approach, even if it might not be what you were planning for. I always liked doing little vignettes about my characters to learn more about them.

    2. Good for you @vicemage
The short story bit was more in line with the title, Pointless Lore (with subtitle and Curious Twilight Bazaar) so it's a collection of interrelated short stories about my different characters with one or more characters weaving through each other's tale. They are all linked together so I'm happy with result. :dance:cheer:celebrate

I have a doctor's appointment today and I hate:x that I have to spend the hours away from my BJD addiction:(. I'll probably take a notebook and scribble words while I'm waiting.:evilplot:

    3. Woops, I kinda wandered away from this forum...! But I finished the 50k goal (and, technically, the draft) and now I'm lost in a sea of "do I really want to write this book this way?!" :...( Fortunately, it's not too big of a problem right now, since I have two novels I'm going to work on before I touch this one again... But I'm still going to go cuddle my MC's doll shell and cry with him because killing him and his boyfriend hurt so much. :(

      (All the sad emojis!)

    5. congrats on finishing, @Mayhem!

I'm... not going to make it. And I've spent the evening here dealing with a broken phone (I dropped it in the locker room, that's what I get for trying to be healthy), so I might not even have the mindset to try tonight anyway...

    6. Congratulaions @Mayhem .
I won't finish on time either. My laptop died, my second one in less than a year. I'm getting it back today but I'm not going to get the words out. The doctor visit was postponed due to a traffic jam so we canceled and headed home, to a dead laptop, I'm not good at writing when I'm stressed. yeesh.

    7. Writing is tough when you're stressed. I'll give you a noble loss high five, @SteamWitch (and anyone else who tried and failed). I'm going to make my dinner soon and then do one last run for the month to see if I can at least lose by less than 10K words. And then I'm going to finally try to keep going on this, at least a chunk of words a night or so, and see if I can finally finish the damned thing.

    8. I finished editing a couple of chapters I'd written before and added them to my novel of short stories, cheating I know but I'm done. I'm going back to making clothes and playing with dollies. But I know more about several of them now.

    9. 40,132 is where I'm calling it, it's late and I need to get some sleep so I can be productive at work tomorrow. But hopefully I can keep the thread of this story going. Congrats to the winners!

    10. I finished my 50k on the 20th, a few days ahead of when I had hoped to be done. I still have a couple of chapters to add on, but if it's anything like my first book, they won't be added until the beta reader draft. I know what happens and if the rest of the story is polished up, it's easier to write the last part.

I'm rooting for everyone close to finishing! There's still a few hours left in some time zones. You can do it!
