I've always admired their dolls but didn't know how to present them in modern settings. Thanks for setting this up!

 

Hi, I got their bust stands (so pretty!). Do they have wait times for such?

Oh, congrats! The stands are honestly magnificent! I think one small aspect of them I wasn't expecting was that the bust part is jointed on the stand itself, which let's you move it for dramatic effect.

They really match the style and beautiful sculpt from Nakana too/

I really loved it and never mind the resin matching for the heads I wanted to use them on--I was more into how beautiful and gorgeous the base looked. The price point was certainly attractive over the much more expensive ones I see from the bigger doll companies.

 

I absolutely agree! They make you feel the head really IS a work of art! I currently have my Supia Rosy hanging out on the head bust stand while I use her body for drafting so I dont mess her faceup up.

Of course, blank heads get to make the rotation on the body in the meantime! Unfortunately, my Yvonne looks a little on the bobble headed side for it to be a good hybrid, so she's not on it atm, but I'm certain the Supia 65cm body would look great!

 

Has anyone here ordered Lulu?? I want her so bad I’m still trying to figure out finance before Thursday! Anyways I’d love to see Lulu when she arrives to those who ordered! She is 26cm so I think she’s appropriate here although she belongs to Classical Edition..?

 

I am still trying to meet financially until last minute!! Haha!
Ideally I'm thinking turning her to a boy. Make him a brother of my only yo doll, so she doesn't have to go back and forth being boy and girl. I've never seen a yo body in that realistic and curvy shape. I unexpectedly fell so deep in love with Rati when I opened the box so I'm sure Lulu poses looks amazing in however she poses!

 

The wait is killing me. My order is still swimming at sea, it seems.
Has anyone dealt with SF express for their orders with Nakana?

 

Nakana had issue with local carrier when I ordered small items last time. Took almost two months to get here. I am not sure if that was the same carrier of your mention tho. I loved how my Rati arrived from CHINA to my home in USA NEXT DAY after their shipment with DHL. If your parcel is literally on the ship, it just generally take month or two.

 

If they see the demand they might! Those who couldn't welcome Lulu this time should keep mentioning that!

 

Yes I thought they would go for EMS. I didn't want to spring for extra with DHL originally but now I should've stuck with how I usually purchase. October, here we come!

I will have to uh ----do some janky deodorant cap holders for my floaty heads because they are rounded, perfect for the job HAHAHA

 

Oof, just a few days short of October and this baby ARRIVED!

 

I never noticed that the bottom of the male stand has different decorations from the female stand! Do you already know what head to put on it?

 

I have a Thelesthesia & Dragon Taochen head and she's a perfect match! (pardon the washi tape covering her head plate, I was in the process of repainting her faceup )

 

Wow that really is a perfect match!! Which skin tone are both pieces? It's super interesting to see what other companies' skin tones Nakana's skin tones match with

 

I'm not the first owner of her head (and I can't seem to find her info except in a restricted site and she may have mellowed a bit) but I believe this is TD's yellow skintone

I ordred male bust stand in white for my first male head. He is sitting on female bust stand now...it does not look too good Since I don't know when Nikon releases male body or when I can afford any decent make body, I hope this serves him good for a while!! I had to miss Lina head to afford unexpected only one in-stock of Zee's Studio Erato. Maybe I can up Shintone comparison once everybody is home

 

I made a discussion thread in large dolls (so no minis or tinies). If people want to mosey over and spam pics of their dolls I'd love that for one.

Just got a shipping notification email about my order! I'm very excited!

 

And my Arlo head w/ face up and bust stand is here safe and sound! I payed for the upgraded shipping and couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase.

 

Completely forgot to add this here, I'm waiting for the old body with an Yvonne head and all hand & feet parts I ordered 25th August, will probably get a shipping notice soon based on the estimate ^^

 

Took the plunge and ordered a doll from the Black Friday discount. How could I not; the dolls are straight out of renaissance paintings

 

Any news from Nakana ? I see no new post on her IG again and she didn't answer to my mail...

 

I second that, I was just wondering the other day about the head I ordered a while ago (end of Oct so 3 months as of this post).

But I don't remember how long I waited last time so I just assumed things are on track.

 

I ordered a full doll in August but haven't heard anything yet. Since they said they paused work end of December I assume that they didn't work in December and we honestly don't know how quickly the "slowly getting back to work" that they mentioned in their post is going to bring them back to their original speed. Depending on how bad their health was in November, it's possible that the processing speed was alrady low before December. So I guess it could take more time? I hope they post an update soon...

tbh I was ready to hear from them in November like their timeline said and thought that since they weren't able to finish it in November/December, that I would hear from them this month I was planning on inquiring regarding the new timeline in February

I sent an email inquiring and I got this back:

"Sorry for the delay because I was hospitalized last month." and then they gave me an update about my order in specific.

So that explains the silence. Also, I hope they are ok......

 

Got a shipping notice end of January and my Sisca head is at least on my continent now, so I anticipate seeing her soon. Good luck to everyone else waiting on orders!

 

My Yvonne has arrived! But when I tried to put my Panya head in NS on her (I ordered Yvonne in NS as well) I was surprised that there's a clear difference in skin tone, she looks more like WS than NS... (Panya still looks like the NS on the website, Yvonne is lighter and a bit pinker) I contacted Nakana on what to do and won't post pictures yet in case it's someone else's order and I have to pack her back up again I hope to hear from Nakana soon...

In the mean-time - she's absolutely gorgeous!! The scultping details are amazing, it's like they first made an anatomically correct human sculpture and only then went about transforming her into a BJD

 

Does anyone know how long Nakana usually takes to answer? ^^" I wrote them an email and a few days later also a message on Instagram, but haven't heard from them yet... the dm on Instagram is not even on "seen" yet

 

I have only written emails and responses came after a few days.

 

Good news! The doll is in the correct colour my previous email went straight to spam due to the attached photos, but to my email yesterday without attachment they answered within a day. Basically since 2022 they use their new super anti-UV resin and in addition to batch differences, the difference between 2021 and 2024 NS becomes visible under some lights.

I also got great advice from Nakana: An easy way to check if you received the right colour (if you bought a head) is to check the head back, since on the inside there's the first letter of the skin tone engraved. I didn't know that and when I saw the N I thought it stood for Nakana, so I didn't connect the dots

 

How long after a shipping notice does it normally take for it to actually ship? Got notice last Tuesday but the status has been in "information received" for the past 7 days.

 

Did you order full doll or only parts? I live in IN, USA. When I ordered full dolls, each order usually arrived in lightening speed. Like next day to three-four days. With smaller parts on the cheaper carrier, my orders took me almost a month to receive after shipping. Fastest was Rati full doll. She arrived a day after shipping notification. Longest was Sisca head. It took almost a month, making many internal stops in China.

It was just a head, and it will be here soon. Between label creation and drop off to the carrier it took 10 days, that's why I was antsy.
