How wonderful to see a new Nabarro thread.

Yeah, with Nabarro even if you don’t have a plan with the head it is better to just buy it. The prices can really be crazy second hand.
Did you order white or pink?

 

Oh, a new thread! I also ordered a Kalan head in pink (oriental skin). I don't know what I will do with him, but I'll figure out in these two months of waiting!

Btw, today I asked Nabarro if there's still some Kalan heads left, and yes. It is on stock. Please hurry up if you want a head!

 

Part of me wants one, but I'm also in the middle of paying off a big doll purchase and I don't have a plan beyond "Nabarro sculpt pretty"

 

I don't have a plan per se...or I also now have 2 very different plans...
I'll just have to see what happens when the head arrives!

 

@Prinsessen I agree with you. The second hand market is definitely going to take advantage of a new head being out. I ordered mine to be safe.

I have a few ideas of what I would use my Kalan head for. I'm leaning toward a warrior type character.

 

The new photos of Kalan are wonderful. It makes me wonder what the faceup I ordered will look like.

I was so excited to see the painted photos too!!! It made me come up with...a third idea. Ahhh, I'll have to wait till the head arrives to see what I end up doing.

 

Took a photo of Julien today. He's keeping me company while I ignore my shoulder. Lol.

I got a shipping notice for Kalan!
So excited.
Anyone else get good shipping news too?

 

What good news! I came here to see if anyone had a notice. I have a face-up on mine, so it might take longer although N said 2 months.
Do you have a body for him yet? @Lady Ravenswood

I love the minimal version faceup with manly lip color that isn't red and shiny like most male face paints. Volks, can you hear me? wonder what I'll get? there wasn't a choice.
Looks like there are heads still for sale. unusual for Nabarro, isn't it?

I don't have a body specifically for him yet, as I haven't decided what I want to do exactly with his character. Or...I have too many ideas and I need to pick one.
So I'm going to wait until he arrives and see what speaks to me. Hehe.
I'm very curious to see what the faceups from Nabarro will be too!

This is the largest order Nabarro has done for heads, isn't it? There was also a long break between when the last head was released and this head. I was wondering about there still being heads available too. I hope they all sell and Nabarro can continue to make more heads.

 

I got a shipping notice for my head too! Looks like we are both eagerly waiting now @Lady Ravenswood XD To think that he will be here in a week or two has me jumping. I'm going to try my head on a demiurge body I got otherwise it will be time to hunt.

@petiteballerine I hope your head gets shipped soon too. With all the blank heads going out then Nabarro can focus on your faceup at least :3

 

Me and my friends also got shipping notice. I can’t wait to see him irl and try bodies on him. I have a clear idea of his character and already has his outfit home, but I am still unsure of body.

@Lady Ravenswood Yes, it is the largest order. Kalan has 100 heads and Sumner is second place with 80 heads. The orders seem to get a little larger every time - probably in an attempt to meet demand but still not make a crazy amount of heads that cannot sell.

 

I just ordered Kalan, he will be my first Nabarro boy.

 

@DominiqueB congratulations! Have you thought of what you will style him as?

 

Ideally as some young blond man from the Regency period, I have always wanted to sew some men's clothes from the period. But first I have to decide what body he will get.

 

Ok...so I need some help. Pretty please!
To those of you that have a Cyril: What eye size do you have in him?
I have tried and tried to get 10mm to work from different makers but they never reach the front of his eye well and I'm going a bit crazy. Do 8mm eyes fit him? I don't own any eyes in that size, so I haven't been able to try any. I'm so lost and I have 2 beautiful Cyrils that I've been trying to get eyes into for ages now.

Well, I managed to find some dead-stock glass eyes in 10mm a bit ago and they came today. They have a very high dome (yay, just what I was hoping for) and fit my Cyril a bit better. The iris hits the front of the eye, but it's still a bit off. I'm going to see if I can try out some 8mm in one of the Cyrils and hope that works better so I can get a pair in a color I need more. Hehe. I'd still be interested to hear what other people use!

And in other news, my Kalan arrived today!!!


His scale is bigger than I had guessed, so I'm glad I held off on a body till he was in hand. I think I'm gonna go for a Dollstown 18 body, which I have always loved and would be happy to own. He's going to have a sugary pink theme. Like a candy prince.
Hehe, right now he's chilling on one of my Mecha Angel lady bodies (I was checking scale with it) and he looks pretty great to be honest.

Hope all the other Kalans arrive soon! Can't wait to see what people are doing with them.

uh-oh. I kept passing on Nabarro boys, partly because of timing and partly size. big guys are too much for me. if he needs a really big body, I might
have to let him go, or just display his head, and that's no fun.
I have 3 fabulous Dollmore Glamor Model guys, though. if he's close to the normal color and fits the shoulders, I'm ok with them. they're very big but not heavier than my SD17.
I'd love to see pics of K shirtless to see how he fits a body.

Hehe, I've been wanting a really pink boy for a while now. I blame Prince Gumball.
He's not going to be that character, but I just like the theme. I got some fiber in a gorgeous pink and cream swirl color so wig experiments are in my future!

Oh, I hope he's ok for you! In the photos it looks like Nabarro has Kalan on the 5th motif body.
I would take photos for you of my head...but I only just ordered the body...so I'm sure I have quite a wait till it arrives.
The Mecha Angel body I put the head on is a female body and she's wearing like 2 layers and shoulder armor.

My Kalan head came in today. I put him on my Demiurge body and I think it looks pretty great. The resin match is just a little off since the head is fresh skin and the body is normal

 

Hi, everyone! I just got parcel with my Kalan head and I am very exited about it ^__^
This is new for me, because I usually collect girl-dolls, so I am frustrated about what body to look for this head.
First I will try him on bodies I own or my friend's dolls, but not sure, that some of them will fit.

That body has a really similar shoulder width and neck size to the Dollstown 18 body I ordered, so thank you so much for posting this photo!! It's making me excited that I chose a good body for my head too.

My Kalan snatched himself a different body yesterday: the Dollshe Arsene body. That neck fits his head better than the Mystic body I had him on before. He seems hapy with it! (He is still smiling)

@Julie M I agree! Nabarro does the most beautiful face-ups! I am very curiosu to which one will be yours.

 

Nabarro just sent me a shipping notice for Kalan. My guy has a faceup and I can't wait to see it! He should be here by the end of the week.

Julie, that's so exciting! I didn't think to ask which was mine. didn't even think about them being customer faceups. have to go back to flickr

thanks, @Lady Ravenswood . He has freckles, but they're very faint. and I just used low light with cell phone. He's just perching on that Akagi body.
The N heads are so big at the neck joint. I think I'll mess with his faceup. very disrespectful, but you can really be creative with a head that's already painted.

 

The neck joint is quite large! Ahh, makes me excited to get mine all put together...though I know I'm in for a wait on the body. Ah well. I should actually start on that wig, but instead I'm stuck cleaning up the cluttered mess I've made of my doll things the last few years.

Really just popped in to say that the new Kalan photos (#10) are so cuuuute!
He looks like he's up to no good and having a great time at it. Hehe.

that's a fabulous face! early Halloween. I must admit, seeing such wonderful faces, my guy is not as personable as he could be. (bjd faceup envy?) I just hope I don't destroy the nice N face trying to make him 'more.' (so spoiled) not sure yet what to do. he needs extreme sidelighting to even see details. anyway, hurricane maybe this weekend, company week after, house renovations after that. meanwhile, John Hero isn't even physically attached to his body. (gotta move him anyway)

I love Kalan 14.

All of the face-ups on Kalan are like "oooh I want to try that on a doll" "I wanna try THAT on the doll"

 

smiles - Kalan showed up while I was at a show in Texas. Fortunately, my stepson went to the post office and brought him home, so I didn't have to wait until after Labor Day to see him.

Unfortunately, Influenza type A and pneumonia came home from Texas with me. As soon as I feel better, I'll pop him onto a body and show him off. He might be nude, but he'll be pretty, so small matter!

 

I'm still waiting for my shipping notice...……...

 

Oh! I just got a notice that the body I ordered for my Kalan is ready to ship. That's so much faster than I thought it would be! I'm so excited to see him all together!!

Kalan 14 is for me, Kalln 15 belongs to my friend
Both are already on the way to us. We are very excited and can not wait.

Because of the Face Up:
You can specify a topic. Angel, devil, demon, human ..., of course, make-up, freckles ..., with hair color and eye color that you plan for your Kalan. Or they take an older face-up of older heads, from Nabarro, as inspiration.

You guys are really selling me on Kalan. He's not grown on me as fast as Nabarro's older work, but I do like him.

I'm flying over the moon. My job is hanging in the balance, so I had to be sure I could pay off the layaway in time and bring home...

He still needs a body. And everything else, but I'm ecstatic.

 

Yes I did, I'm patient he'll get here one of these days when I least expect him. Then the search for a body will begin.
