I need help with figuring out what the resin colors from MYou actually look like. I've seen many pictures and videos and each resin color looks different depending on what I look at. The normal skin looks very yellow sometimes and less yellow other times. The pink looks pretty pale sometimes but too pink other times. I know lighting and what not affects how it looks, but I'm having a very hard time finding the right color for my Bettina. I want her to be pale, but I'm not sure I want her white resin pale. I'm sure body blushing could help in this situation if the color isn't exactly what I want, but I really just want to figure out what the colors truly look like. Any help and pictures would be greatly appreciated!
I have all their colors but the NS (WS, Coffee, and Tan) so though I can't help with their NS I can say that their WS is slightly creamy and very much like Dollzone WS. Also Myou does have a NS-Yellow option so it's safe to assume that their regular NS isn't as yellow in tone as that option.
I haven't purchased newer BJD in a decade (or more), but in the past, some companies would send/sell resin chips to customers who were interested in purchasing particular colors, but didn't know which ones to choose. Maybe you can cotact MYou, or a delaer of theirs, and ask if you can purchase resin chips from them, to see the actual colors in real life, vs photos which can always vary by monitor and a million different other reasons. I don't own any MYou, so I don't have photos to offer, but from my experience purchasing dolls in the past, there's never anything that can show true colors other than having the plastic in hand. Good luck! (:
@chamberofdolls I found some comparison shots of Myou Doll’s resins on Instagram. Their white seems to be a light, creamy color and not stark paper white, while the pink has some saturation, but would also be good for fair skin.
I have both Normal and Coffee resins from them and I can tell you that Normal is VERY yellow untertoned. It's pale but it's WAY more yellow than any references I think I've ever personally seen online. He's had a faceup, but you can still see the how yellow undertoned it is here: Login • Instagram I personally like it as I like yellow undertones but it's a lot stronger of a yellow than I think most would expect.
I would really love to see some comparison pics of normal skin vs white skin in different lighting if anyone could help with that?
I own 2 Myous, one in normal and one in pink. It's a bit hard to describe the normal, but I can confirm it has a slight yellow undertone that's somewhat subtle and has a very "soft" look to it. As if it's been yellowed without ACTUALLY having gone through any yellowing, if that makes sense? Like a sorta ivory white-yellow. Normal under warm lighting: Normal under cooler lighting, no wig: In this one you can see from the ears and neck that it's kinda white-looking, but there's an ever-so-slightly tint of yellow in it to make it soft. For pink skin, it's a lot softer than it seems from Myou's comparison photos. With flash on it can look VERY pink, but in person, it's more of a soft, peachy-pink that can sometimes look like a normal human skintone depending on lighting. Pink under warm lighting, with slight reflection light from a computer screen: I haven't taken as many pictures of the pink skin, but I'm happy to provide more photos of it if you'd like! I may try to put both Normal and Pink side-by-side later on if it helps too.
Thank you so much! I didn't expect a reply so quickly so thank you. The colours look so much better than the official company pics (It really is hard to tell the tone difference with those old company pics). I would love to see a pic of the normal and pink side by side if that's not too much trouble? ^^
Sure! Here's a better comparison of the two under 3 different lighting. Bear with me a bit if they don't show up right away, I'm trying to use flickr for the first time ^^;; Myou Normal vs Pink_natural light by L.Kay W., on Flickr Myou Normal vs Pink_cool light by L.Kay W., on Flickr Myou Normal vs Pink_warm light by L.Kay W., on Flickr
Thank you, you've been a great help. ^^ After looking around and seeing your pics I think I'll go with the pink resin. It doesn't look as bad as I thought it would (Myou really should update their resin comparison photo to look a little better/It's hard to tell what kind of colour tone from their pics). I mean their pic of the pink looked... well, VERY pink lol. It's nice to see that it's a softer tone than that. Thanks again. ^^
