My very First faceup!!! Tips please!

Jan 6, 2013

    1. Hello dollie friends!

I just finished my very first faceup! Wow, you all make it look so easy!! I learned tons while doing the faceup on my Silver Dew named Addien! The pastels smudge and I really should have gotten an eraser or something to clean it up before sealing it. I got a bit lash happy... >_> But they were so fun to do! anyway, I'd love some tips and constructive criticism! I am rather proud of my first attempt if I do say so myself! faceups are fun!

Addien in all her smudged glory!! LOL

    2. That's a pretty nice for a first face-up, and buying a kneadable eraser will definitely help in cleaning smudges and to help clean around the lips and eyebrows to define the shape.
The eyebrow position is a bit too high and generally the upper eyelashes aren't drawn in face-ups because they are stuck on afterwards (or not) but it's up to you if you want them drawn.
Drawing less lower lashes would look more natural too.

    3. She's lovely! I personally am a fan of doing both drawn lashes, and light glued-in lashes. That's my personal taste, but both variations cna look great when done with a practiced hand. Your blending looks very smooth though, yes, there are a couple smudges, and the dolls right eye makeup looks like it's more abrupt than her left. But that just takes practice. I'd also be careful around the corners of a dolls mouth. Her lips look great, very pretty, but when you get that much color in the corners, it can look like she has a cold sore.

    4. Very cute for your first try!
You did nicely on the eyebrows, to not make them look too chunky. :D

I would definitely go lighter on the lip blushing next time though. ♥

    5. Definitely one of the better 'first faceups' I've seen. You already know about the kneaded eraser and I agree the eyebrows are too high. I also really like the top lashes you did. One thing I would recommend is playing with shades and highlights, like defining the upper lip to be darker than the lower lip and over all paying attention to where highlights and shadows fall. Adding varying shades in the eyebrows also seems to help make them look less flat. Other than that and if you prefer bjd's with more blushing it looks really cute!

    6. I'm also in process of doing my first face up. Yours looks better than mine. ☺

    7. Your first face up is definitely better than mine I've been working on for weeks. It's a Puki so small and hard to get clean lines. Nice job!

    8. She is cute. I just did my first one and got the eyebrows too high also. That must be a common first time error.

    9. Ugh my first face up looked awful! My eyebrows were too close and the liner was way too thick. I think she looks pretty! Are you going to add lashes? It's kind of a pain... Lol

    10. she looks great :3 and soon enough i'll be doing my first Bjd face up :3 cant wait to try my luck !
